Government on Monday agreed to help Faz meet Herve Renard’s salary.
This is following a tripartite meeting held at the Ministry of Sport in Lusaka.
The meeting was attended by Faz president Kalusha Bwalya and his general secretary George Kasenegle.
Also in attendance was National Sports Council of Zambia general secretary Rogers Chipili and sports council spokesperson Smart Mwitwa including other high ranking NSCZ committee members.
Sports minister Fackson Shamenda said they will study Faz’s proposed US$ 25,000 monthly pay for the Frenchman.
“Whatever the amount in the contract Government will find a way of helping to pay,” Shamenda said at the end of the two hour meeting.
However, Shamenda warned Faz that Football House must improve on its human resource management.
“As Government we will help to pay for the coach but in future there is need for consultations before hiring and firing,” the minister said.
Renard begun his second stint as Zambia coach in October when he was handed on a 12 month deal.
He replaces Italian Dario Bonetti who was fired on October 10 just two days after guiding Zambia to the 2012 Africa Cup tournament.
The next coach/manager to be appointed should be Zambian! Quite an attractive salary…
I see no reason why agitating for a local coach. Most importantly is a coach who can deliver either Zambian or foreigner.
This fool is getting more than he deserves.K125 million is alot of money.phiri was getting K15million.it would have been better if FAZ would taken Wedson,Beston,Fighton and Phiri and pay them K20million each and the remain K45m is for miscellanous.
So Renard… your salary is actually ZMK125,000,000 not the ZMK10,000,000 you told the the nation? You clown should tell us the what you make, not take home after statutory and Kalusha deductions! What a joke!!!
Thats alot of money for the govt to pay. Not even ministers get that much not even Dr Musokotwane got that money whilst in power. Wake up guys look for a local coach.
Few make that kind of money in Canada/US/UK!
Who says Ministers should be the highest paid in the land? Who said Ministers’ salaries are the standard for salaries in Z?
Another u turn by the PF government
Zambia is still a very poor country and put priorities right. Its like you have no mealie meal and relish at home but you spend all you money in buying a fourth hand non runner car hoping to make money out of it. What are the benefits of this pay to the frenchman, its 0. You cant waste that kind of money just on entertaining the nation. Zambia must be serious. I hope the PF government will live by its promises to block this pathetic proposal.
Mr Shamenda lack of leadership FAZ hired the coach they are responsible to pay his salary. They should have planned ahead, Mr Shamenda should have said NO and these should have been the grounds to fire all the FAZ leadership.Africa is full of damn heads men without backs.Failed to lead the country and failing to lead football
these are the chaps who says that Musokotwane’s salary was too much. Musokotwane’s contribution to the economy can be seen. but what contribution has this coach made to outr team excrpt to lose most of the time.
Lets be real even England seeks for expartism when it comes to coaching. Madrid,Barcelona,Arsenal all have coaches from different countries based on their potential. talk of their pay, they get even more than presidents. In any country if football has to increase you have deep into your pocket. For your information,Zambia has among the least payed coaches.
Young man plse call me,You seem to be a damn head football in Europe is profitable coaches are not paid by Govt
My five years at UNZA seems like a mockery and this ***** will be enjoying my tax.
NO 11 you are spot on.We need to appreciate our own people.
What do you mean by “GRZ to assist..? Is it by contributing 30% of the US$25,000pm?
Zambia is not a poor country. Money is not just distributed evenly. What poor? All children of ministers own cars and bank account overflow with millions of dollars they never worked for. Zambia is a rich country but lacks sensible administration. Take Botswana for example, education is free from early primary school to university, and we cannot do this in Zambia? Why?
its too much hw can u b getting o dat amout of money while dey z no improvement in sports.think big zambians
