Herve Renard says he is worried about Zambia’s goal drought against big opposition.
Zambia has failed to score away against high profile sides Angola and Nigeria in their last two friendly games played over the last 30 days.
“Goals have only come from the India outing and you know it was not the same level,” Renard said at the end of Tuesdays first training session back at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka 24 hours after returning from Angola on Monday evening.
Zambia lost 1-0 to Angola on Sunday and 2-0 to Nigeria on November 15 and won 4-1 and 5-0 in between against modest sides Goa Select and India respectively.
Renard said the scenario was not unique as it also occurred before Zambia headed for the 2010 Africa Cup.
“We have the material. It was the same question before we went to the Africa Cup 2010 we played North Korea before the Africa Cup we scored four goals,” the Frenchman said.
“It is a problem of confidence a lot of times. That means the confidence will come with a lot of hard work.”
Meanwhile, striker James Chamanga sat out Tuesday’s training due to an injury but will undergo a full assessment on Wednesday.
Ati he is better than Dario..fili ekotuleya.
For sure we gat good blends ma coach… Never worst your energy by paying attention to time wasters like Sharp Shooters, ever negative
Do we as Zambians Honestly think this team will improve Goal Scoring during the Tournament when they are Mis firing on all cylinders now just a Month to the AFCON games?????

Why was this coach fired as Angolan national Team Coach?Talent we got is indisputable but Renard is not the right material Zambia needs right now.The boys worked hard in the last AFCON and he thought he was the genius behind and become big headed. In Angola, within two months,it was proven otherwise and a sack followed. The guy went into oblivion by start coaching some arabic club only to be rehired again by Kalu. This beats my logic especially there were a number of good options.
What problem of confidence naiwe P.E teacher, its ubukula at work!whats the use of having a good team if they dont score? Zambia wont even reach 1/4 finals!
Zambian strikeforce Mbesuma and Chamanga! Yabaaaaa!
“It is a problem of confidence a lot of times. Grammar 3/10. well lets forget about football and concentrate on squash, chess, athletics, prostitution, drug dealing etc
This coach was fired by Angola because he was not good enough to coach their team. We are witnessing a similar pattern. Although the onus is now on him to prove his worth (he has been given a second chance, if you please)…..FAZ need not have re-hired him considering all the circumstances of how he had abandoned the team previously. Kalusa Bwalwa must be drunk!
i cn;t see any change we nid to improve before its too late
THe only hope for Zambia to have a goal scoring machine, is for the population to hit the 20 million mark,…
THen chances may increase of finding someone who can actually put the ball the a net…!
This coming AFCOn may be a disaster, though pleasant suprises are more than welcome…
That aside, we should start thinking thinking strategically i.e forget about aiming for Africa Cup, and start looking at a long term target…! This quick fix thing doesn’t seem to be working,…!
What’s the average age(real age, that is) of some of these players anyway,.. been seeing them for quite sometime now,….
we nid alot of work guyz.
