Faz is hoping to secure a couple of more training games for Zambia at its South Africa training camp in Johannesburg.
Faz communications manager Erick Mwanza said they were looking at the dates of January 7 and 14 for possible training matches against either clubs or a national team.
Zambia already has one friendly confirmed against South Africa set for January 11 at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
Mwanza however ruled out the possibility of Zambia playing Ghana who will be in South Africa this month to prepare for their Africa Cup outing.
The Black Stars have a scheduled friendly against South Africa in a friendly in Rustenburg on January 14.
Mwanza said this is because Ghana is Zambia’s Group C opponents in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
Zambia have set up training camp in South Africa from December 27 to January 17 before heading to Equatorial Guinea head of their opening Group A game against Senegal in Bata on January 21.
Please try national teams not clubs no
You prepare and schedule for such things 6-12 months in advance, which serious National Team is going to mobilise in 2 weeks just for a friendly… get serious guys!!
It has always been the case last minute preps
some clubs are more powerfull than some national teams, the reason being that those who play in some clubs are international brand of players, compared to some national players in clubs there is more co odination among the players because they always play to gather
faz, ghana are potential opponents and this is all the reason why we should play them in a friendly match. this will help you useless guys see and nalyse the way they play and enable you strategise should you qualify. useless molons.
Its against Fifa rules to play Ghana because we are in the same world cup qualifying group. Dont just comment for the sake of it. Faz people think and understand the rules better than your ignorant self
Please be careful not to expose the boys to injuries so close to the AFCON tournament by having too many friendlies in the remaining 3 weeks. I would’nt mind them facing Orlando Pirates coz that team is very well co-ordinated, and is a 90 minutes outfit that even gets stronger toward the end (usually winning in the dying minutes). That is the test of tanacity we need for the boys. The biggest test for the Chipolopolo boys lies in the ares of (1) Maintaining or growing their lead when they score first, and (2) Coming from behind to win a match if the opponent scores first. That is the sort of character the team must achieve during its preparations!
i think its a bit too late for friendly games…they will just drain the boys out before the tournament..Faz is once again exposing another weakness on their part….inability to plan ahead..at the moment, a game with bafana bafana and any local club is enough because all what the players need now…. is to play games to help test their team work and not to stress about rubbish international friendlies..
What are “Friendlys” and “Faz”?
Awesome ! I love it.
