Herve Renard has said he was never worried that his strikers would deliver at the Africa Cup.

Zambia had struggled to score goals in their buildup matches for the Africa Cup scoring one goal from their four high profile friendly matches.

On Saturday, Zambia beat Senegal 2-1 in their opening Africa Cup Group A game in Bata.

“I said it in 2010 I heard the same thing. How can you compare a friendly against Namibia when Rainford Kalaba is playing not to get an injury?” Renard said.

“This is a competition. How can you ask a player to be motivated against Namibia in a friendly and not Senegal?”

Renard also gave an example of when he came with Angola for a friendly against Zambia enroute to Malawi to play a CHAN qualifying decider.

“I came with Angola national team we lost to Zambia in training game and on Saturday you lost (your qualifier) and we qualified for CHAN,” Renard said.

South Africa eliminated Zambia to qualify for the 2011 CHAN.

    • # 1 2 3 4 if you people were the zambian couch we would be wishing for your removal after the first game. why when you see your child is about to lose something he has would you keep shuty or edge him to work exta hard. BIGUP TO THE COUCH AND THEE BOYS. go boys and make us proud ushitahsa awe bane mwana wandoshi for real

  1. even when we dont agree with yo rehiring – for now do the job; go zambia we ar behind you. but hey HR remember also that u took mbesuma there; dont forget like angola 2010

  2. You are missing his point you guys. He was not worried with the lack of goals during friedly because goal gaters were cautious of injuries. Now they are getting goals because the real thing is on- what wrong with such coments from the coach?. You worry me with your understanding sometimes.

  3. Some of the bloggers need basic school how can you fail to understand what Rena is talking about, besides Rena is not a English speaker, he meant what number 5 is saying. Rena is the strategist good job

  4. when Coach Patrick Phiri sat on the bench while we got whacked you complained, Renard shouts instructions you have a problem. Just shut up. The guy knows the players and is the only coach who has shown our team how to have not to fear for any team. You were busy saying how we would lose to Senegal. There was less then 15minutes for Senegal to equalise why would he not shout at slopy play. I love our ‘super model’ coach!!!

  5. Just wait one loss and people will call for your head. The right thing to do coach is let the soccer do the talking. You will be called a PE teacher soon. You want to sound bright after one win ?

  6. Coach Renard has the right to speak out of his mind expecially when his say was logical or an logical. Coaches go off sometimes they need to vant. With all the respect, it is incredible to see People have their point of views, in terms of how they feel about what is going on with their National Team. One thing though you cannot take away from Zambian National Football Team is, the ambition they had beating Senegal. It felt great to see the Boys obtain three points. Renard keep up helping the Boys to be mentally strong and as well displaying football on African soil the right way. Good luck to your next match…

  7. Ba Zambia you’r  hard to please. This coach just help us beat one of the top teams and you still direct stinkers at him!? Be greatful smh.. Come On You Chipolopolo Boys!!

  8. Its sad that guys learnt to open this blog even if they have never been to school. Understand his point ” Ba John white”. He simply saying he had some reservation on how to tackle friendlies to avoid injuries. Uwushitasha, endoshi ine

  9. I thought his coaching was fantastic during the game. Especially that last 10 minutes when our boys looked completely finished..HR was frustrated because he knew Senegal were looking likely to get the equalizer..but our boys were unwilling to push for that last 10 mins. as #8 said..when you had a coach sitting down looking confused you complained..now we have a coach involved in the game..and you still complain.

  10. HR please tone done abit. you should issue such a statement with a trophy in your hand. your strikers have not delivered yet they have just won the first game. lets wait and see how they perform as they proceed. the problem with our team is that they manage to do the impossible and fail or struggle to do the obvious

  11. SOME PEOPLE APPEAR NOT TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING AT ALL. THE ESSENCE OF RENARD’S SHOUTING WAS THAT, AND I HEARD HIM CLEARLY, “TWO MINUTES AND YOU STOP RUNNING! WHY?” AND THEN HE STOMPED THE GROUND. THAT GAME WAS WON BECAUSE THE BOYS WERE RUNNING HARD. JUST A LITTLE SLACKENING AND SENEGAL ALMOST EQUALISED. HR WAS RIGHT TO SHOUT

  12. Indeed stupidity has no limits. Our boys were tired and appeared to failing to hang on to that precious lead and some bloggers expected Renard to sit and scratch his nose. Esatblished soccer coaches like Sir Alex, Jose Mourinho , Wenger do that and even throw and kick water bottles around. Good job Renard and continue to scream at those boys if thats the only way to get them to work. Work on their fitness also because I don’t think they can cope with the riggours of extra time when need arises. Good luck chipolopolo.

  13. :(( the shoutings were justified what do you do when you have a chance to score but instead you take the ball to the corner to waste time ???? we also need to work on counterattacking football.

  14. Mwebantu bambi tamwakwata ichisuma, Zambia wins you despise the Coach, Zambia losses fyonse fibi. Some of you ne ndoshi yawamapo. Please give credit where it is due. HR is just a good Coach. How many coaches have you ever had in this country and have gone without being insulted? The pipo who complain much are not patrotic and they have never even experience the chimpombwa game anywhere, neither do they know how difficult it is to play. Bunda bwaku bwata bwata. anyway ifikopo efyo fyaba… too much noise but no performance. why didnt you take up the coaching of the boys when we most needed a coach? Stop complaining you losers! HR and the Chipolopolo lads, you have my 100% support .

  15. Herve! Its not time to brag but be advised to approach each game tactically different and not the use of same players for the next game as one of your technical weaknesses.Mbesuma must start in order to hold the ball and the defenders hence opening chances to the other strikers.Chris must have been substituted in the 75th minute and not the substitutes you made which did not provide any balance in the team but i do not understand why you could not notice that he was very very very tired!Hands up for the victory but i will keep scrutinizing you as i am the best self soccer pundit.

  16. # 1, 2 and 3 do not only need an education, they need the rudiments of thinking.  You can hate HR all you want, however that should not bar you from using your mental faculties logically and wisely. Be fare-minded and appreciate the good HR is bringing to our beloved nation in the name of soccer. Next time you choose to post an opinion on a public blog, try to read a Jelita and Mulenga book before you do so, it might just help bring back to life your dead and flawed reasoning capabilities.  Thank coach HR, let’s go Zambia!!!!!

  17. I wonder how the f**k how some pipo got to find out about this site and where they got the guts to comment on matters that are “beyond” their their comprehension for lack of a better term.bafikala mwamona nonba ibwafya bwakubuta icisungu??u r destortn the discusion.pls jst visit, read and leave this site if u lack understanding about the issue at hand.muletumwenesha mo.peace the english challenged
