The opposition MMD has charged that commerce minister Bob Sichinga is lying that the party printed illegal notes amounting to 3 trillion kwacha prior to the elections.
MMD deputy secretary Chembe Nyangu has told QFM that the allegations being made by the PF government that the MMD printed fake in China are unfounded because there is no proof.
Mr. Nyangu notes that the MMD was a responsible party which could not make any transactions that had the potential to distort the economy which the party worked so hard to build.
Mr. Nyangu adds that the money that was used by the MMD during the campaigns was received through contributions from party members and other well-wishers.
He however, declined to give any details on the matter saying the party leadership is studying the matter and will call a press briefing soon.
Commerce minister Bob Sichinga revealed on Thursday that the MMD government printed fake notes from China which they used to distribute in the villages during campaigns.
Mr Sichinga said that the money was printed in China and was dished out to rural areas to woo voters.
Mr Sichinga went on to say that part of the bogus K 3 trillion had initially been intercepted at NAKONDE Border Post in MUCHINGA Province by Vigilant members of the public.
Mr Sichinga made the disclosure in Kitwe when he addressed members of the business community at a consultative meeting.
Inspite of the massive illegal print of counterfeit money, the PF won the September 20 tripartite elections because the people of Zambia wanted change, Mr Sichinga concluded.

Fake notes are counterfeit and could not have been printed by a reputable Chinese Company.
Perhaps what is referred to amounts to printing extra legal tender without following correct channels.

I work in a bank and we never saw any increase in fake notes into our systems. We have enough controls to detect fake notes.

Bob would do better to give us the real truth and nothing but the truth. K3Tn would have such a telling effect on the economy not to mention how the garrulous PF vuvuzelas would scream on top of their homeas and offices. The long story short, PF hasn’t yet figured where MMD got their funding from otherwise they would have told us when,where, name of company and all those things.
Unfortunately most of the ministers in the PF government are also remnants of the KK days when it was customary to make wild, unsubstantiated accusations to rally support or solicit sympathy. In the information and knowledge age, this will not do. We have ways to actually verify the truth or falsehood of anything uttered now with ease. I urge the PF Ministers to exercise restraint, diplomacy and above all, respect for the systems they have inherited. This behaviour is akin to demolishing a house while you are inside it!!!!!!
Don’t you think that such statements alarm investors and any other sector of the society such as tourism? I think if they are unsubstantiated then it is really sad. I am sure those calling on Nyangu to keep quiet and Musokotwane to answer are being naive, if MMD used counterfeits I am sure not only the top brass knew about it. Its really sad that this is being said. I agree with #3 Objective. Maybe Mr. Sichinga should only use the right channels and ask the investigative wings to be on alert. People will report when they access such notes.Â
Does mr sichinga have any proof to back his claims?coz these are serious allegations.
And why is he not reporting to the relevant authorities so the culprits can be brought to book?

Guys, lets wait and see, I am pretty certain Bob, as senior member of PF Govt cannot just say these things without facts and indeed proof. Lets wait a little, these are very serious allegations.
If Sichinga is lying, the MMD MUST sue him, because this is not just politics, this is a criminal case at the most and a civil case in the least. Sata could make such statements because he has legal immunity but when his minions do that, they should take responsibility.
Chibambak Kanyama was on Kwacha Good Morning this morning and I valued his challenge to government to come up with a clear statement on K3 trillion because the CSO tells us we now have the lowest inflation rate in years and yet the economy is presumed to have 14 percent worth of GDP in fake currency.

Where are the fake notes that were intercepted?, China should let these chaps(Sichinga) answer questions because it gives China as a super power a bad reputation. The PF Govt, should now shake off the honeymoon mentallity and begin to Govern, initiate development programs, and create emplyment for the Zambians. Talk shows will not put food on tables of those they promised to change their lives.

Thought Bob had been to school? How does a minister issue a statement recklessly that boarders on undermining the national currency. Is he the right person to make such a serious statement? what about the ministry of finance in conjuction with BOZ? Such commentry have a bearing on the Kwacha to be perceived fake. This in turn will create worlthlessness of our money. Bob should be aware of these repucassions to the Zambian economy in retrospective of his statements. These chaps are making it difficult for Sata to rule with civilised manners.

This is the same Sichinga who is on a campaign to bring back Parastatal (or is it Parasites) companies. He has allies such as one Andrew Kashita who claims that State owned companies were ‘profitable’. This is the same Andrew Kashita who campaigned for privatisation in the 1990s because parastatals were a failure. Bob and his friends have no morals, principles nor a development agenda for the country. They are empty heads masquerading as the ‘thinkers’ in PF. They are as clueless as the undereducated Satas, and Kambwilis.

In order to print the new currency in which they will get a cut from. Dont be hoodwinked, the change of currency is deal to make money for pf and head of state. Ala mukanjeba one day! How does one explain change of currency suddenly without planning? Its not a priority for now if you ask one. They want to put KK head back on the currency and theirs!
