Rabies disease has hit some parts of Kasama, Malole and Mungwi districts of Northern Province.

This came to the attention of Health Deputy Minister Patrick Chikusu who visited Malole, Mungwi and other selected Health centres in the in the province.

Northern Province Provincial Medical Officer Jerita Chinyonga also confirmed the development to ZANIS in Mungwi and attributed the disease outbreak to the un vaccinated dogs that are looming the area.

And Mungwi Baptist rural health centre Sister in charge Grace Sinkala said the rabies outbreak in the area has affected both the young and the old and added that more patients are still being brought to the health centre.

Meanwhile Dr Chikusu has directed the provincial medical team to ensure that they procure more rabies vaccine to combat the scourge.

Dr Chikusu also directed the Provincial medical office to engage the Provincial Veterinary Officer and work out modalities on the vaccination of the reported rabies infected dogs before many people get affected.

Efforts to get a comment from the Provincial Veterinary Officer by ZANIS proved futile as he was reported out of town.

  1. She looks young, I do not know if that is her child

I only dates someone serious when I was 24

I would love to see that men, wait for us until we are at least mid 20’s anyone marrying a woman of less than 20 years old should be arrested

    Thanks

  2. who owns these rabied dogs kanshi…..just kill all the dogs in the province, besides its not meat for the zedians or alternatively engaged the congelese to conduct the dog massacre….

  3. This is no joking matter, VET dept should conduct a vaccination exercise of all the dogs in all affected districts before innocent lives are lost. PF Govt please prioritise this issue urgently, better save lives

  4. Children under age of 2-15 are more likely to be beaten by a dogs. This is a risk we cant afford. Let the bylaw be strengthened that every dog owner should have their dogs vacinated in cities and towns and any stray dogs should be purged on regular basis..we had this in the 80’s. For the rural dogs , vets should conduct 3-6 monthly vacination of dogs..and each center shud be equipped with

  5. Dr chikusi we dont vaccinate infected dogs.. We exterminate them on basis that it is risky and expensive. We can however try to treat another dog bitten by a rabbid dog..There are more stray dogs in shanties

  6. Kindly research pliz before you give people wrong drugs. IT IS SATAMANIA. The signs and symptoms are the same with rabies. Death is also similar. For rabies you kill all stray dogs but for satamania you should kill…….

  7. For once MUSHOTA Chimfwembe you are actually correct. Today the lord must have touched your brains. The Chipolopolo victory has also you smiling by our one God YHWH that you actually made sence. It should be Law in Zambia that women should only be married after 21. Arrest anyone dating a 20 year old and below; there is wisdom there. In Israel you only joined the army after the age of 20. There is hope foe you yet my sister I shall send prayers.

  8. Finally, you want social and living proof that the machine actually does what it does. You want to hear good and bad things about it to get a better view on what to buy.
