Esther Seals Monalisa Victory With A Kiss

Esther Phiri capped her victory over Monalisa Sibanda with a rare intimate moment in the ring at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka on Friday evening.

Esther, who knocked out Monalisa in the 7th round of the scheduled 10-round WIBO/WBA light welterweight title fight, stole a brief moment in the ring to share an intimate kiss with ex-Chimwewe MP Willie Nsanda with whom she is alleged to be very close to.

Meanwhile back in the ring, it was Esther who had more gas in the tank after six rounds in a fight her patience and outfighting skills combined with fine body shots showed a class above Monalisa’s wild punching and poor defence.

However, Monalisa did give Esther something to think about in the 4th round that she dominated after the Zambian had won the first three rounds.

The 5th and 6th were all Esther as Monalisa clutched and grabbed at her opponent including one cavalier moment in the 5th when she lunged at her Zambian opponent in futile act to secure a knockout.

At the start of the 7th, Monalisa wobbled as Esther delivered a combination of body shots before the Zimbabwean succumbed and tumbled to the canvas.

The fight also put an end to any controversy regarding their first meeting seven years ago in Harare in a non-title fight that Monalisa won via a 2nd round stoppage that camp Esther denied saying it was a no contest after the latter fell  ill in the ring.

“It was not bad (the fight) I wanted to play with her first. Now she must know that am a World champion and must give me respect,” Esther said.

  1. Good result. She is really a world champion. She however needs to retire from boxing to concentrate on other things before she develops brain damages like Muhamad Ali and late Lottie Mwale. I am sure she now has enough money to start a decent living and going back to school

  2. EVERYTHING IN ZAMBIA IS JUST GOING SHIIIIIIIIIII. ZAMBIA IS ENJOYING A MOMENT OF GREAT FAVOUR. BA PF MUTEKE BWINO. GOD IS SMILING UPON ZAMBIA. IT IS JOY AND GLORY CHABE !!!

  3. I have seen Esther a little, she comes out out as obnoxious at best

The only nice thing about her is her name, and she should NOT be called an English name
    It is gross

    Thanks

  4. NO surprises there. The opponent was a weak one specially selected because, as I hear, actually Esther has since passed her peak point in her career and now opponents have to be carefully selected to continue her wins. I don’t want to underrate her win but that is the truth – Esther can now not fight stronger opponents. Those of us in the know of boxing we know Monalisa as a washed up ‘former’ boxer, dished to Esther on a silver plate, but which doesn’t really help Esther’s growth and it doesn’t matter because she has peaked. The only way for her now is down or retirement – which I hear may come quite soon. Esther has achieved everything she wanted to achieve in life, which is a rare thing in life. A lot of us only achieve compromises, not really what we wanted from life originally.

  5. Yayayayaya….. Zambia is becoming attractive, so many victories. Nothing peculiar about Nsanda & Ester. Nsanda himself is a boxer. And Ester need ukuchitisha to people who have value in society like Nsanda or Kambwili- Sports Minister.

  6. bushe what is wrong with mushota ,if she is really zambian then she is a discrace both to us as zambians and to her family

  7. bushe what is wrong with mushota ,if she is really zambian then she is a discrace both to us as zambians and to her family

  8. Bati esther uku salapofye uku lanyengwa ne fontini li nankwe, boxer wapwa nsanda? To each his own but get a house to kiss from agree with #1

  9. Well done Ma Phiri. Hmm ba Mushota in the late 1800’s there was a Gordon Phiri in the Scottish census. The French and Scots also have the name Pirie. We’re not complaining. Esther is not English it is Hebrew but we’ve been here before so just congratulate my namesake and move along :)

  10. we dont have any woman to make us proud in the ring if she retires, she should continue.that kiss came due to hard work, just imagine a girl from mtendere kissing willie nsanda.

  11. Ba kolwe imwee! Give credit were it is due, always passing silly coments, some of u are fathers and look at your posting, mwanya i start showing your kids your coments, mwe nkoko mwe

  12. That kiss was strange. Isnt Esther supposed to be getting married? or at least she was supposed to. Plain ubuchende mu afternoon….damn i cant take this no more….You should have seen how mwamba looked at her when he kissed her… 8-|. i think bonse balalyako ama guys. 13. Some more tourist attractions in Zambia……………….come and celebrate withus.Esther my friendly advise is stop boxing and enjoy your money or wealth you have gained from your hard working before you go head!

  14. congratualtions Mis phiri but but 4 sure consider hangg up gloves,Nsanda should behave in relation to age, we are africans shem on you.19 & 27 tone done on language, editer LT wake up

  15. Congrats. But let her not accept girls from America or South Africa she will die in the ring. Monalisa was just forced to accept the fight. She was on maternity leave and no proper salary, she complained at the end of fight. Bring back the “BULL Shit” girl who was denied a win by fake judges. Galagata also should just retire. He is big for nothing.

  16. Please get better chalengers,Esther’s opponent was terible. And as for FAT Galagata Sumo wrestling ,and the sweating greeeeeeee yuk.

  17. Esther can behave anyway she wants. If you are morally bankrupt stop depending of people to deal with your issues – deal with them yourselves. Esther is not a God, she has a life to live, so she can kiss whoever she wants whenever and weherever she wants. She is not there to solve Zambia’s problems. Zambia is the most judgemental country and yet the whole country is Sodom and Gomorrah. Sometimes I agree with Mushota that the gene-pool that is in Zambia is retrograde and I support her idea of marrying her Scottish guy mayve she can have better genes from Scotland. IQ level pa Zed could be the lowest in the world.

    • Don’t encourage such nonsense, I watched a program on BBC, where she was talking to school girls to encourage them, therefore she has influence on young Girls as a model. She cannot be kissing in public when unmarried. That’s the nonsense that brings Zambian Girls backward. Let her be married if she wants such kisses in Public.

  18. SAIMBWENDE #34, what you have stated towards the end has already been thrown out the window. It has nothing to do with gene-pool; it is environment, opportunity and circumstances. If you scan the world, some of us have garnered awards and accolades that ordinarily we could never have got back home in Zambia. Ask yourself why? Don’t behave like the very people you are condemning; simplifying otherwise involving situations in sweeping statements. Meantime Esther must continue with her life, her profession, and yes, her personal life too!! She is an adult who is responsible completely for her actions and choices.

  19. Kissing Willie Nsanda on stage..hmmmm.I just donno who has sunk to whose level? Has Esther sunk to Nsanda’s level or has Nsanda sunk to Esther’s level?

  20. .#32 u ar rite, therz so much abt ths bout yet only $20000 was paid 2the zimbabwean.its a hoax and wen u bring real boxers frm the USA,it wl b a sad ending.world champion nonsence atase

  21. Too much testestorone ba esther nomba kulya bonse abali mu line. She got a little buchende addiction I hope the daughter was in bed. but hey lets focus on her boxing, well done girl!

  22. Congratulations Esther, Nomba ama kiss mu public with wrong people (Willie Nsanda????) is he not married?? Iyoo Esther, you are a celebrity and Model to young Zambian Girls. Avoid such nonsense and be a true Role model.

  23. monalisa she’s is a greater fighter its only that it was not her day we all train 2 win but GOD is ther 2 reward our plans l hope next time she wl win dnt give up baby girl we all love u to esther well congradulations on ur victory dnt forget 2 thank GOD for that

  24. Congrats Esther, maybe you’re the right woman for Willie Nsanda, I guess he’d always have to think about how you’d react before saying anything vulgar to you.

  25. That kiss did not affect me at all…is there anything wrong with me? Don’t know the dude and don’t give a damn. I was focussed on the match and Esther won so I was elated. Anything else was nothing…maybe I am weird. For me Esther is meant to box and box well; anything else does not affect me. I thought maybe the dancing by Mampi was a little wayward but a kiss if not a mere peck would disqualify her as a role model. Awe mwe ba bantu, mulekeni umukashana. She does not even deserve to be insulted. If Nsanda is married then he is the one with a problem, why kiss a single woman?

  26. People people leave Mushota alone. She has the right to her opinion. In fact she has the best opinion always

    Thanks.

  27. Ala bane Mushota is not a woman. I bet he is properly male. The picture is just to throw us off balance. But be kind on him its a democracy and freedom of speech.
