Champions League and UEFA cup winning coach Rafael Benitez did a comprehensive analysis of the final between Zambia and Ivory Coast in an article titled “Zambia Spring a surprise on Ivory Coast”, on his personal blog.
Rafael Benitez is well remembered for leading Liverpool to the Chanpions League title against AC Milan in a classic final. Liverpool came from 3–0 down at half time to level the score at 3–3 in the space of just six minutes and eventually triumphed 3–2 on penalties. BenÃtez’s calm methodical approach at half time was said to have given the players the belief they could pull off an improbable comeback and win Liverpool an historic fifth European Cup.
In doing so, BenÃtez became only the third manager in history to win the UEFA Cup and UEFA Champions League in successive seasons. BenÃtez’s tactics were credited as a key factor in Liverpool reaching, and winning, the final, despite an unimpressive squad of players.

Did he now??
Know what? It is a post-match analysis… (post = after)
Achoke rafael benitez, its too late for that. They underrated us poyamba elo bati uze ve tifuno mvela ndaba tawina, fuseke?
That ugly Nigerian ***** called Daniel Amokachi must be melting with shame after our victory
Thanks Rafa. Great to know that legends like you watched the game. Please consider visiting Zambia, conduct some coaching / football analysis classes if possible.
We do have business analysis course, we may as well have some football analysis too.
It great to hear big names in world football talk so highly of Chipolopolo. May greater things begin with our boys getting more exposure in big leagues. A great world cup performance is not far at all. Keep on Chipolopolo!!!
Excellent analysis Rafa. Im humbled that a great coach of your calibre wacthed the Afcon finale & took time to post review the game.
This is evident our football is heading in the right direction. Bravo Chipolopolo!!!
This is an Excellent analysis. It is clear that Zambia player superior football against cup favourites, and Star-filled Ivory Coast – most of their players being from the European Leagues.
the analysis was good. lots of credit for zambia in the analysis. we have a great future with this team. its likely that we could be on the brink on our first world cup quantification. congrat again to us for our game. man i loved it
Very good analysis. Gumu gumu what is there to be humbled that these coaches watched the game? These coaches follow the afcon like no man’s business. The Afcon makes the English Premier League. And EPL is big business than the foolish FAZ.
For such a good analysis, where are characters like mamadou gaye, Amokachi ? I need to see these guys faces please.
Chipolopolo has been found guilty of cruelty to animals. They were found guilty of shooting and fatally wounding the cranes (Sudan), the Lions (Senegal) and the Elephants (Cote D Ivoire).
• In another charge, Zambia was found guilty of disturbing the heavenly realms. It relates to a case of Mayuka discharging his copper bullet in public and shooting the black stars out of heaven. He admitted guilt.
On behalf of Zambia, Kalusha admitted Guilt and Zambia was sentenced to 12 months of celebration by FIFA.
• The Judges (FIFA and CAF) will review the charges at the next court case in RSA in 2013.
We pray that Zambia will once again be found guilty of all these charges in 2013.
There is no need milking the win. We have won, yes, but it is time to move on. There is the economy to worry about. The kwacha is tumbling. This year, for the first time in 5 years, we will harvest less crop than we need to feed ourselves for one year. By end of 2012 many people will be hungry. Poverty is slowy coming back but it will take time before the usual illiterates who vote in stupid leaders come to realise….and they will be the ones to die from hunger. Next time go to school so that you voter wiser. By 2013 you will remember my words.
Doom and gloom all the time is not the way to live.A little good news is most welcome and this was great news.Let people be merry for once please.
I think I am gonna milk this until next year! What a fantastic achievement!
I will milk this victory too, it’s not like it happens everyday. There are people who are employed to make sure that there is a bumper harvest. They are the ones who should worry about that; I just hire and fire with my ballot paper and believe you me I always vote wisely! Nachilelila bane!!!
This is an excellent analysis. But mamadou is the worst of them all without objectivity all the time. He might have to try something elso. Sorry.
benitez my foot a clubless coach,we need to have our lads in top european leagues
Many thanks for the link, LT. It’s interesting to get an analysis from the expert’s point of view.
Please tell us the technical analysis. We are waiting other wise this piece of news is not complete.
The link has been given where the details are.
The man has not given any analysis over the Zambia Ivory Coast game, what has been talked about is his success at the European Champion League, shamw LT
Rafael Bernitez was great at my other club Liverpool for Champions league and the other cups FA and charity shield. Liverpool need to stop living in past glory and hire a coach that can win an EPL trophy while molding new talent. I despise that Suarez clown, drama with 80% skill. You can’t stop Manu with those numbers and a player that is one click in skill behind Chavez. Not enough depth at Liverpool for a gruesome league schedule close to half a year. Viva comments on Chipolopolo though.
@ SKC there is a link to his article above. That’s where you want to head.
WERE RE OUR ECONOMISTS IMWE?
I JUST WANT TO COMMENT ON THE ONLY WORD THEY KNOW “INFLATION”, WHEN MINERS REQUEST FOR ONLY K500,000=00 SALARY INCREAMENT OUR DULL ECONOMISTS ARE ALWAYS IN THE FOREFRONT TALKING SHIT THAT THERE WILL BE “INFLATION” IN THE COUNTRY.
NOW HOW MUCH MONEY WILL IN CIRCULATION NOW THAT OUR NATION TEAM WILL BE GIVEN K300 MILLION EACH PLUS MONEY FROM THE TROPHY & THESE OTHER COMPANIES & WELL WISHERS WILLING TO DONATE THEM MONEY? OBVIOUSLY MORE MONEY THAN THE INCREAMENT ALL THE MINERS CAN BE GIVEN, SHAME ON OUR FAKE ECONOMISTS!!!!!
#16 loverchibs and #17 SKC gee how can you display such ignorance in broad daylight! There were at least 16 people before you who seemed to know where the analysis was ,wasn’t it hint enough that you were missing something.Hope you have now found it……..technology isn’t a first language afterall.Â
Excellent analysis by RAFA
hahahaha#16 and #17 you made me laugh where in the world are you? finish reading before you comment the likn is right there keep waiting hahaha yaba.
Highly technical post-match analysis, this is the side of football i love the technical room…I hope our so called football pundits in Africa read these things and i hope the sports channels give them a refresher course for they bring them on live telly instead of being biased and bitter like that 411 boy Daniel Amokachi.
Look at your friend Roy Keane he hates Liverpool FC to the core but when it comes to analysing their games he is professional and objective, something that these Ex African footballers lamentably fail to achieve with exception of ever eloquent Efan Ekoku.Â
indeed amokachi and his clique ar a let down bt cn smebody tel me which of our lads is breakin into europes top leagues after their heroic performance at the afcon?
I would like to see Mayuka in England, Sinkala in Spain, Sunzu and Himoonde in Italy and Kalaba back in Portugal. I am not sure about Chris going back to Europe, he is just coming from there where he didn’t make a mark. The rest can stick closer to home for quick call ups and keep the same shape in the team as much as possible. AFCON 2013 is just around the corner. The have regular places in their current respective teams which is why they were sharp. It will be hard for them to keep regular places in Europe which can be detrimental to their confidence
Mammadou Gaye, Mcathy the fake coloured and Amokachi are soccer idoits…. Esp Mamadou…how can you predict 4 nulll as if you gona play…. As for Amokashi…here is something for supersport…Dont invite pipo who have not qualify to AFCON to comment on AFCON touney. Amokashi was bitter and all he was saying about the Champs (zambia) was negative….Anyway who cares about the so called soccer analysts…We are the champion..
ya daniel is a prick may be he wants2b in Lushas shoes but the Nie state wont give to him, …2 bad…prayO.
Beautiful Benitez, just beautiful. te boasting iyo but i reckon we could have dropped the elephant dead even without penalties had we decided to go into overdrive. I thought we were in 3rd gear and could have up’d our game had we wanted to. i am sure the coach knew that otherwise I can not explain how he could have substitued a defender for a midfielder had we been struggling. the little I lent in schools football was that football is won and lost in midfield was illustrated very well in this match. Sinkala (my MVP) was in control in midfield…What a talent. Composure, skill and awareness of what was happening around him was just a marvel to watch. While others eyes were on ba takataka, mine were on him and I hope pep Guadiola was watching too. We finally have my kind of player in team.
