MMD presidential aspirant Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane has said the former ruling party is already tired to be in opposition.
Dr Musokotwane, who is former Finance and National Planning minister in the MMD Government, said the members were already tired in opposition and wanted to go back into power.
Addressing MMD members in Chipata yesterday, he urged the members to work hard in ensuring that they got back into power as soon as possible.
“The party feels that it is already tired to be in opposition and it is now time for the party members to work and get back into power as soon as possible probably in the 2016 general elections,” he said.
Dr Musokotwane said four other presidential aspiring candidates had already agreed to support whoever was going to emerge victorious at the party national convention.
He said the former ruling party had projected to retain its majority and wrestle power from the Patriotic Front (PF) in the 2016 elections.
Dr Musokotwane said during the MMD tenure, the money was sourced for the completion of the Chipata-Mchinji Railway line including the tarring of the Chipata-Mfuwe and Chipata-Lundazi roads as well as construction of many schools around the country.
He said MMD had proved to the nation that it was the most DemocraticParty as it was not involved in any violence after its defeat in the September 20 tripartite elections.
Earlier Lusaka Province MMD Women’s Chairperson Mary Phiri said theformer ruling party wanted a person who would not sell the party to other political parties.
She said the party in Lusaka province was behind the candidature of DrMusokotwane to succeed former republican president Rupiah Banda asparty president.
She said the MMD lost because many parliamentary candidates were campaign managers themselves.
And Chipata District MMD Chairperson Sinoya Mwale said the party in the district was still intact.
Meanwhile, there was a near exchange of bitter words between Eastern Province MMD information and publicity secretary Joseph Banda and MMD Kanjala ward councillor Jelasi Phiri.
This was after Mr Banda stood and started addressing MMD members in English and Mr Phiri told Mr Banda to speak in Nyanja to make it easier for the people who had gathered to understand.

whom does this person thinks he is? just wasting your time. concentrate on your stolen bycsicles
Delusional Musokotwane! You just lost an election and you are talking about being tired? Now tat is two seats in your strong hold remember?
And please dont preach about MMD being democratic after the elections. What about before? OK I see, it only counts when when you know you are powerless right? What a tool!
How dare you say that Musokotwane? The opposition is there to provide checks and balances by keeping an eye on the govt and therefore you can never say you’re tired. If you’re tired now with less responsibilities it means you’re not ready to be in the next govt where more is recquired of you.Gosh, that was foolish of you.
Hon Musokotwane please quickly get through this convention and elect the leadership of the mighty MMD. Then get on the drawing board and strategise on how come 2016 you are back in government. Blunders by the PF government is fooder to fuel your return to governance. Currently there is no direction in governance of the country. The kwacha is in the ICU, economic climate is unfavourable and uncertain for investors (local and international) and above all the country is now run by a dictator who rules by decree. The current government has no priorities except for brewing tensions with the citizens. Decentralisation my foot
i think that mr musokotwane is missing some think.it not about him coming back in power it about presenting people with a plan.sell us your plan musokotwane
MMD is ever strong. The Loss does not mean out of game.MMD must continue to provide checks and balances to the PF govt. Its time time for the New generation of the MMD young energetic persons take over with Money or Not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MMD has its own weakenesses like any other party but at least there is democracy, the American way. Now this PF, it si so frigtening. PF=SATA and SATA=PF.
What do you want to do once you get back in power? You had 20 wasted years, couldn’t even just maintain what KK left, you destroyed everything!
20 years of stealing in power and then u say MMD is tired been in opposition less than a year? Ba musokotwane just MMD is tired of been block since u cant steal no more period.
MMD is now a party of clueless incompetents. How could a rounded person person ever wish for Rupiah Banda to be their leader? time for me to consider politics…..these clueless people cannot be allowed office again!
Bringing MMD back means continue with Plunderers. You will never go back to power Mr Musokotwane. Reserve what you have stolen for your Children and your medical fees after contracting TB in Chimbokaila.
Mwanaka bwangu ba MMD papitilefye 6months sure, nomba eko ikakwanila 10years chikaba shani
I’m surprised that the above article is a quote from Times of Zambia. Times of zambia is covering mmd objectively unlike they did to pf – hope this obejective covering of all political parties wont change in 2015-2016 election campaign time
PLEASE Dr. Musokotwane work hard and sort out the leadership in the MIGHTY MMD so that it can kick out these PF monkeys out of power in 2016. We are already tired of these PF dogs and monkeys who driving our economy into the ground. Illiteracy and Dullness in PF stinks like a toilet. PF comes into power and already we have a projected low harvest in its first farming season. Next year food prices will shoot through the roof and that will be the beginning of tough times again – going back to the 1990s. These PF dogs must go. The Kwacha is now over K8,000 to the Pound and over K5,000 to the Dollar. What sort of nonsense is that… MMD is coming back in 2016.
We miss chwe! chwe! chwe! Please Dr Musokwatwane and team work hard to get rid of these PF thugs and thievies from power soon. How can you trust a bemba person to fight corruption honestly? We will hear a lot after PF exit that we have heard at MMD.
Yes, I miss stealing and getting away with it. You see, we in MMD are so arrogant we never prepared to be in opposition. It was wamuyayaya and I miss my two salaries. Being in power for us MMD was never about the people, but what we could take from the people without giving back. If you vote us back into power, we will make sure no one prosecutes us after we have plundered by removing parts of the constitution and making all of us legally immune from prosecution
Being in the opposition can be useful in nation-building provided you know what you are supposed to be doing. So get on with the job that opposition political parties are supposed to be doing in the development of the country.
2016? No, too soon for MMD.
I like this, way to go Doctor, and very prophetic words indeed.
Whether Sata stands or not, PF kuyabebele. One lesson that has come too early is that you can’t trust the economy and national unity with these PF numskulls. By 2016 the economy will be so bad only diehards will vote for PF. PF was brought into power by swing-voters, who have since started deserting the party out of disappointment. 2016 will be a different ball-game altogether. Second term for PF is not a guarantee, infact even the 2011 elections were not won by landslide majority, that is why PF is infact still minority party in parliament. 2016 will be tough. A lot of people have invested in the economy and they are seeing their ventures being devalued slowly due to clueless economic misamanagement by PF. The honeymoon will soon be over, and reality will set.
How can MMD be tired in less than 6 months? If that’s your attitude, then wait for 1 year, that party will be gone. MMD members were so used to being in power to abuse office. Be focused as Opposition, your role now is to provide checks and balances and be a voice to Zambians.
@saimbwende..? you can insult and stil look up in the sky?eeh! what drives you? in thi age and time? what would it profit you? God save this soul !
The best thing mmd can do is to change the party Name ,colour, leadership and symbol or merge with Alias chipimo jr.
Forget of coming back to power.we suffered so much in the last 20 yrs. Only a few people benefitted frm yr corrupt regime.money that was suppose to go to the youths was plundered and this is true
MMD is finished because of corruption and others vices the misrule and allowing Rupiah Banda’s and Dora to steal public funds and investing in a country of Kenya and Bahamas.Common Zedians you want the MMD to come back again and plunder again????? Only HH and UNPD wants this to happen but the Zambians will not allow MMD or UPND to bounce into power NOT AT ALL.After PF is gone Chipimo will come into power Finish.Â

#23 Ni zee, after five months “more money in your pockets within 90 days” has not arrived yet. So don’t judge too early, most pf cadres now think that things may turn out to be worse the way things are going.
If this man were smart, he would lay back from politics and concentrate on being a successful business man. As it is, he is not an ivy league business man. He is just a man who formally held important public positions.
These PhDs the british were giving Africans for charity are killing us.
