The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has warned that it will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against individuals and erring members who bring the name of the sport in disrepute.
The warning comes in the wake of recent media reports were some soccer administrators have been issuing incessant attacks on Youth and Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili following his counsel to delegates to the 2012 FAZ Annual General Meeting next month.
FAZ Communications Manager, Erick Mwanza has described press reports as regrettable, unfair and inimical to the country’s desire to continue nurturing and building blocks of national development for the good of the game.
Mr. Mwanza observed that it has become fashionable amongst some of the members to become vocal whenever the time for FAZ AGM approached.
This was in response to media reports attributed to Nkhosi Warriors Football Club chairperson Keith Mwewa and Kabwe Warriors Club chairperson Andrew Kamanga in which the two attacked Sports Minister, Chishimba Kambwili.
Mr. Mwanza urged FAZ members to be alive to regulations and rules governing their conduct as well as the policy of non engagement with the public and government through the medium of the press under any circumstance.
He stated that the association is calling upon all its members to continue holding hands and work towards the greater unity of the game and aspire for more success.
Mr. Mwanza said the association would use existing channels of communication and appropriate judicial bodies to deal with the two erring members whose conduct can bring the name of the Association into ridicule and disrepute.

I read the statement by Kamanga and I fail to see anything amounting to an attack on the Hon. Minister, or am I losing my touch with English? Or maybe anything one says about him that does not amount to praise is classified as “attack”?

If Hon Kambwili was talking in favour of Kamanga group, Kalusha by now would reported the matter to FIFA as govt interference. but since Kambwili is on Kalu’s side its okay and noone in FAZ has complained that minister of sports is meddling in football affairs. ciwamina galu kuluma mbuzi.
He antagonised diplomats and moved on to specific investors, now he is headed to football officials all in a mere space of 4 months. Tell me of a country where an ordinary minister has a public spat with a Diplomat not even in the States they choose their words carefully when with the likes of Iran or North Korea.This Chisamba has grabbed the most headlines for nothing but wrong reasons. A minister is supposed to formulate and implement policy not a dirt kicker.Â
Yes, Erick Mwanza its in your interest to punish the “troublemakers” as its also in your interest to go to the AGM unopposed. With very little of football issues, daft Kabwili has decided to jump on the bandwagon & issue not only misguided back fuzzy statements to back Kalu  at the upcoming AGM.Â

Eric what you need is to tell kambwili to distance himself from FAZ. The last thing we need is a FIFA ban for political interference.

Let’s not be sidetracked by this smokescreen & ask Kalu’s team the probing questions about transparency and accountability eg how referees will be funded, the actual details of the MTN, SuperSport, the Nike kit sponsorship & TV rights.The English FA publish these deals and the actual figures; who is this Kalu? He is no different to the President moreover he is funded by us.
The Issues illegal player transfers and the $2 million prize money from the AFCON must be tabled know how these funds should be distributed or invested. What’s our Benchmark?

The two (Keith & Andrew) were merely defending themselves from the malicious attacks from Kambwili. Kambwili needs to tame his loose tongue. He is not doing standup comedy but running a serious govt ministry.
When unjustly and maliciously attacked, the two just like everybody else have the right to defend themselves.
They do not forfeit or waive their rights simply because the attacks are coming from the minister with misplaced priorities.

Look at the likes of Egypt they had won AFCON trophy a dozen times in the past without having a single player based abroad…why?? The problems here is that FAZ members are issuing statements without regard to FAZ protocols. It is OK for them to say whatever they want, if they were not members of FAZ. Any company or organization has a spokesman or mouthpiece that issues public statements. You can not have any member going to the press and making statements. They are free to do so if they decide to leave FAZ, but as long as they are members they need to follow the laid out protocols. This is common knowledge for any person that has has worked for a big company or organisation.
