The Future of Zambia back then -Two finely dressed young politicians of the newly independent Zambia Rupiah Bwezani Banda (L) and Venon Johnson Mwaanga (R)

Former parliamentary Chief whip Vernon Mwaanga says he has forgiven fourth republican president Rupiah Banda for rebuking him during Muvi TV’s Assignment programme.

Mr. Banda revealed on the programme last evening that he dropped Mr. Mwaanga as his campaign manager because of his questionable character.

But Mr. Mwaanga, in a statement released to MUVI TV News, is asking Zambians of goodwill to pray for Mr. Banda and to forgive him for what he said.

Referring to his new book entitled “The long Sunset”, the veteran politician explains that he has given a fair and balanced account of Mr. Banda’s presidency.

He adds that the personal and family ties that unite his family and that of Mr. Banda are by far greater than the forces which divide them.

And former President Rupiah Banda called on Zambians to support incumbent Michael Sata. Featuring of MUVI TV on the Assignment programme on Sunday, Mr. Banda said it will be wishful thinking for the Zambian people to expect President Sata and the Patriotic Front-PF- Government to meet their aspirations without giving full support to the Government of the day.

Mr Banda who recently stepped down as president of the former ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy-MMD-, said Zambians should put aside their political affiliations and rally behind the leadership of President Sata for the sake of national development.

Ever since Mr Banda and the MMD suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the PF in the September 20, 2011 elections, the two leaders have not been in good books.

President Sata’s Government has instituted an array of investigations into Mr. Banda’s regime and pressure for the removal of the former leader’s immunity has been amounting.

However, Mr. Rupiah Banda has said he is available for any national assignment if called upon by President Sata as he did when he together with First Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda joined Vice President Dr Guy Scott to travel to Gabon for the Africa Cup of Nations final in Gabon on the 12th February.

  1. I like that – ‘rebuking’ – a tad diplomatic :) Then a little shuffle and book promo… Hee hee. Old boys club are gloves off and poised. God bless Zambia.

  2. Now ba RB naimwe, what do you mean rallying behind people who only recognise their cadres as the only human beings?

  3. ‘Questionable character.’
It is the public not RB who questions VJ’s character. Nearly every Zambian believes rightly or wrongly, that VJ rigs elections through his connections with the Intelligence. He had to be removed because RB did not want to have a tainted victory. Have we forgotten the Poll that VJ issued just before the elections? That is what is a ‘questionable character’ does.

  4. These boys were looking looking handsome when were these pictures captured on Black and white Olympus camera. Good gesture any way

  5. Good night blogers.good night Alaa Bee Kwendo Munjila-safe flight tomorow, good night VJ-hope to read your book, good night UKWA -enjoy your stay in Bots, good night LT

  6. Guys did u watch ukwa when he, arrivd in bots. Man, he almost acted like he is, in Zambia. Kwena ba ukwa balatusebanya!

  7. Everything being equal VJ should have been prezident of Zambia at one time. Save for hiz self confesed drug dealing and that infamous Moise Katumbi saga, Vernon Mwanga stands az one of the best polititianz Zambia haz ever produced, jealous down!

  8. These two have a history spanning more than half a century! They know each other very well and done too much together. (If you want to know how the crocodile lives in water, its a hippo you should consult!). This public spat could also be mere posturing and grandstanding for the public consumption or the wheels have indeed fallen off in the “friendship”.

  9. HH alipena kanshi ala he has cracked the joke of the decade…the UKWA thing aint going away and PF goons coming on TV to protest about it drew more attention to it and made it funnier! Cant stop laughing now even when UKWA is saying something serious (he does occassionally people!) UKWA ala ninseka HH tomfwa!

  10. Didn’t realize HH haz that kinda sense of humour. Though there iz nothing to go ballistic about. The sight of thoze two midget adults and the very Ukwa in Nollywood moviez( if by rare accident and mistake I watch Nigerian films) makes me feel like throwing up.

  11. I think VJ is the one who needs prayer, the man has a dirty character and home and in public, sure he is planning on how he will find himself in PF?? Let VJ Shut up as RB served him  on his endless debts. surely he was helping himself with MMD campaign Cash.

  12. Guys this photo was taken in 1965 and #26 shut up. Why do you say things anchored on hear say, just in case you didn’t know “VJ is the Best President Zambia never had”. While you are busy talking non-sense he is preparing for his presentations to go and present to various conferences, seminars and conventions locally and internationally where he has been invited. He has a lot of ways and means to make money not the dirty campaign money that comes once in 5 years. So #26 & others do your homework & research before posting anything about anyone.
