Wedson Nyirenda’s second coming at Zesco United began on a dramatic note after his 9-man side beat 10-man Zanaco 1-0 at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola today.
Zanaco were second best throughout against a Zesco team who were ferocious in attack led by the attacking trio of Innocent Mwaba, Winston Kalengo and Jackson Mwanza.
However, the game was overshadowed by three send-offs, two of them alone for Zesco while they led 1-0 after Kalengo had scored against his former club with a header in the 32nd minute after benefitting from a cross from Zimbabwean defender Zimiseleni Moyo.
Referee Jan Sikazwe began by dispatching Mwaba for dissent in the 67th minute before his teammate Simon Silwamba joined him 9 minutes from time for a second bookable offence.
Zanaco defender Mwelwa Sakala joined Silwamba and Mwaba for an early shower after Sikazwe flashed red for a somewhat soft call on a ball-to-hand incident.
Meanwhile at Konkola Stadium, Konkola Blades won the first-ever Chililabombwe top-flight derby after beating promoted Konkola Mine Police 2-1.
At Arthur Davies Stadium, Nkana finished 1-1 with Nakambala Leopards and it was the same situation at Kafubu Stadium in Luanshya where Roan United were held by the same score line by Green Buffaloes.
Is Nyirenda becoming our Mourino or is it too early?
MWAUME NYIRENDA
He He Konkola Mine Police Vs Konkola Blades. This derby was unthinkable a few moons ago. Nice to see Mine Police in the elite.
Sep05Douglas Nyirenda It’s Malawi who are in a pole position to grab that aumitatoc qualification place. The reason? With everything equal Malawi have a better head-to-head record because the scored two away goals. Despite having a better goal-difference, Tunisia failed to score in Blantyre. Malawi are just supposed to at least equal Tunisias result in their final game against Chad. CAF uses the same rules for deciding a winner as those used in the Spanish la liga. Note this is different from English Premier League. With the same rules Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup despite having a better goal difference than Angola. Angola had a better head-to-head record.
Fi Roan celebrating a narrow one nil lead in the first half….marubbish na matuvi kupela! We’ll see you, this season you packing; no survival by a whisker this time around. You will regret chasing players like Ben Mwanza & the rest. Wedson is surely our Morinuno: club gives him money he buys the best players on the market..go Zesco the league is yours this year!
Zega our team, go Zesco goo! the title is ours this year and not any more for Powerless Dynamos.
Did the Nkana game just came into “MPU” 1-1 or something happened? Come LT please give us data! Go Nkana, go!
I’m so glad someone had the viosin and took the time to do this. It’s so easy to write someone off because they can’t hear or see but the reality is that there is a fully cabable person inside that deaf body. All they need is someone who can find a way to reach a deaf person with sound they can feel. Everyone can feel vibration, especially in the lower frequencies. They might have well have been hearing it with their ears, given the way they reacted to the rhythm. Even people who can hear are affected by the vibration felt within their bodies. Congratulations to Mr. Mubanga and his college for this noble achievement!
