The Princess passed away at around 22:30 hours last night at Mill Park Hospital in Johannesburg South africa after a heart related operation.
Family Spokesperson and also Princess Winas son Wina Wina has confirmed the death of his mother to ZNBC news on Friday morning.
Mr Wina says the Family is devastated by her sudden death.
He thanked President Michael Sata for the timely manner in which Princess Nakatindi was evacuated to South Africa after it became evident that she required urgent specialist Medical attention.
The Family has also thanked all those who have rendered support. Arrangements are being made for the body to return home to Zambia.

I am extremely saddened by this death, Wina and his wife have always been too close, always seen togather – very rare manners in Africa, only characteristic of our european friends. I am sure the big man will never be the same. May God strengthen him. May God help the family get over it.

That is very true, the couple was always together. I remember few years back, on Valentine’s day Mr Wina was being interviewed at Manda Hill. The interviewer asked him what he was doing at Manda Hill. His response was “I brought this girl here to buy her a gift”. We can learn a lot as young couples from the Winas. MHSRIP. I knew the Princess and worked with her for a few years in the early years of Chiluba’s government in the 1990s – when there was such a positive buzz all across the country without exception. Her death to me signals the end of an era. The generation of independence-struggle politicians is slowlying fading into the books of history. It is sad, they led us through an exciting period. From 1964 to end of the 1990s when this generation was most active we went through various times of excitement, doom, repression, and comedy. It has been nice to have been part of all that and now with this fading, there is a huge nostalgic feeling – may be a fear of the reality that the past will never be again. Let them go to rest: they fought and worked hard for Zambia – with little education.
Will she be accorded a state funeral by the Zambian govt? How will the fact that she is a princess and the current impasse on Barotseland play out as regards her funeral arrangements?

This is the sort of history which might unfortunately miss from our history if people continue bickering on tribal issues.The Winas plus the late Princess were a political family to reckon with.and in my view should go down in the Zambian history.Zambia has such a great history with strong women like the late princess being in the forefront to restore democracy in our country but what we have especially on website are airheads insulting our leaders from KK to Sata and other great leaders of our time.No one is perfect so let us remember the great contribution each has given to our country and thank God for them all.
