Mazembe Take Power Dynamos To Champions League School

Share

Power Dynamos were shamed in Lubumbashi today where hosts and four-time African champion TP Mazembe crushed them 6-0 to boot Fordson Kabole’s side of the Caf Champions League.

Mazembe advance to the second round 7-1 on aggregate and hand Zambian champions one of their worst ever defeats in African club competition.

However, most of Power’s misery was inflicted in the first half in which the first four goals were score by two of the three Zambian players who had started the match for the four-time African champions from DR Congo.

Zambia midfielder Rainford Kalaba put Mazembe ahead in the 10th minute and 11 minutes later Tresor Mputu made it 2-0 from a seemingly offside position.

Kalaba’s compatriot and striker Given Singuluma scored two quick fire-goals in the 42nd and 44th minutes as Mazembe outplayed their guest from just across the border.

Singuluma and Kalaba including defender Stophilla Sunzu started the match.

Mputu completed his hat trick in the 67th and 77th minutes to see Mazembe book their big second round date against El Merreikh of Sudan in a fortnights time.

El Merreikh beat FC Platinum of Zimbabwe 3-0 on Saturday in Omdurman to advance 5-2 on aggregate.

  1. As expected… even false prophets make half truth… which Power was dreaming of winning TP in DRC – it was going to be a joke of the century. Kalaba and Sunzu are accomplished players; Singuluma is not new to Zambian soccer, perfect goal poacher and finisher; he deserved to go the AFCON ahead of Chamanga and Mbesuma. Sinkala has to mature, but in a team of stars he may be confined to the reserve more often just like his compariot Sebastian witnessed at TP. Luka Lungu is certainly going to have difficulties to break in to the main team. Welcome back home Power…plse orient yourselves quickly with the League Table, it’s already heating up…you will have it rough this season.

  2. This was expected, these players get less than K500 pin as winning allowonces, Katumbi as genorous as he can be paid power dynamos in kitwe for giving them a good game wich they thot was going to be an easy one. What more in Lubumbashi?

  3. Hahahahaha, that’s what happens when you take old men to play ball. Well learned, well earned, VIVA ANARCHY VIVA CHAOS VIVA HAVOC VIVA PANDAMONIUM VIVA FRACUS VIVA CONFUSION! I am game!

  4. Uncle D It’s true these was expected Power players were going to get $600 as winning allowances and TP Mazembe are going to pocket $11000 each and you expect power to win. “Patali sana”.

  5. Ba Power zoona,is that y u wanted that out of the spotlight hotel so u can drink simba and tusker, now u see the results of your folly ka…

  6. It was difficulty for those Power players to play in front of Kasai fans.
That Tresor Mputu is really a good kamushi player, we have so many of those in Zambia rural leagues. But Zambia want to recruit only elegant players like Nathan Sinkala or Sebatian Mwansa.
Kalaba, Hichani, Singuluma and Luka Lungu fit very well to such DRC leagues where players are allowed to smoke ibange before the match.
But Nathan & Stopilla need to leave and go and play some civilized football in Europe.

  7. Kabole is a fool who is not moving on time with modern fooball. I thought Power won the league because of Chambeshi. If power think that they will win another league under this rat they will get a rude shock. Zega is coming.

  8. It was written all over the wall that Power would have no chance in Lumumbashi. However the scoreline was embarrassing.

  9. Zambian players should leave DRC for Europe ,why can’t they get contracts in Europe? As for Power 6-0 is just too much.

  10. Travelling long distance on road.. what you expect after that?? They should have flown in and return by bus on way home. And their refusal of a hotel booked for them speaks another story

  11. Congo DR is a hostile environment for any visting team team and match officials, but Power should not have lost by that margin. They need, together with Red Arrows, atleast two seasons to reflect on this loss before getting back on the continent. As for Arrows I thought should not have been allowed to get back so soon after they were embarassed by Enyimba in front of their supporters to the tune 6-1. FAZ let them go ahead to get more embarassed by nondescript team from Lesotho, what a shame!

  12. i think it is non sense for power dynamos fans in zambia to shout, insult and do whatevever rubish they can do or say to kabole.you know football is all about business and in congo make sure this is real business especially in mazembe.let me inform you that the zambian campain in gabon and ecuatorial guinea earned each player of the squad something like 50.000usd but in lubumbashi with this kind of amount of money, rainford can get it in less than three games.power is a good side i watch and see them playing either in zambia and in congo they are good only that in such competition we need much endeavors than what we always expect.anyway, hadluck guys that football. MWANGAZA radio and television sports reporter(lubumbashi drc).

  13. So long as grassroots football is ignored this will always be the norm….that team represents you abroad and you laughing at them is really pathetic, it could have happened to any Zambian Club….you should be asking your FAZ and yourself the right questions.
You sell players for peanuts to rivals and this is the end result…TP Mazemba will even make more money from those Zambian players when they sell them to European clubs and come back stronger next season.

  14. Power need to play back the games Barcelona have lost and learn how to defend and only hit on a counter. A team that loses by six goals is one that is always attacking even when they are leaking goals – remember man city va man united? that 6-1 scoreline? When odds are against you, only defend and counter attack. sometimes damage limitation can be more honourable. Yaba, I am disgusted with Power!

  15. Power survived to have forced a 1 all draw with TPM at AD Stadium and to imagine victory in Zaire waz too ambitious and wishfull fantasy. But 6 – 0 really humiliating to say the least.
