Weekend Scorecard: Kabwe Warriors Repels Gatecrasher

Share

Faz Division 1 South leaders Kabwe Warriors recent good form has received a gatecrasher to the party.

Ex-Warriors coach Mohammed Fathi is said to be campaigning for his old job back.

This is despite Warriors coach Dick Ngwenya’s good run of results with three out of three wins for Warriors in their battle to try and make a quick return to the Faz Super Division.

According to a source familiar with the development, Warriors club executive have rejected Fathi’s overtures despite the Egyptian-born coach allegedly receiving blessings to vie for the unavailable job from one of Warriors’ traditional main sponsors.

“The club has rejected the suggestion from Railway Systems of Zambia that Fathi be considered to take up the coaching job,” the source said.

Warriors executive are said to have stood their ground saying that if Fathi was to return he would only be welcome to take up the youth team following his failure to win them any silverware during his last tenure four years ago.

Meanwhile, Warriors continued with their good form when they beat Freedom Rangers 1-0 away in Chilanga on Sunday to open up a two-point lead at the top of the table with 9 points from three games played.
