Zambia ended their four-month holiday after the Africa Cup with a draw away to Angola.
The two teams finished 0-0 on Wednesday afternoon in a friendly played at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.
Renard started four Africa cup winning members he took on the trip that saw Kalililo Kakonje start in goals.
Defender Nyambe Mulenga midfielder Felix Katongo and striker Evans Kangwa, who was partnered upfront by his Nkana teammate Reynold Kampamba, all started against Angola.
Renard also handed untested defender Aaron Katebe of Hwange in Zimbabwe his first cap when he started the teenager along-side Nyambe, Charles Siyingwa and Jimmy Chisenga.
Zambia, who had until Wednesday not played any games since winning the Africa Cup on February 12, return home on Thursday.
The team regroups on Sunday in Lusaka to begin preparations for their 2014 World Cup Group D qualifier away to Sudan on June 2 and Ghana at home in Ndola on June 9.
Great result, because defense wins championships, while offense sells tickets.
Fair play. Beat Sudan and Ghana to prove that you are the champions. Going into the CAN as underdogs finishing topdogs .. You are the champions through out the year 2012 :)
Good but you must learn to score guys. Beat sudan and lastly on 9 june hammer Ghana..
Great result away. Great result. This is the way to GO. Do not afford to lose games, even away. U the champs.
@1, 2 and 3, c’mon guys let’s not encourage mediocrity. The boys should’ve wacked Angola no matter what.
renard the tactician, i trust he is on the right track. from this game he can see which players to add to the final squad, after 20th on sunday, he starts his work with the pros, by wed, thur, next weeek he will drop the excess and remain with his cream, come weekend we hammer Sudan, thereafter Ghana.
What’s so great about drawing a friendly game and for the matter goal less, friendlies should be used to test your scoring power and team coordination where by you play a free but consciuos in all areas of attack to get goals, next time play to score and win……
@4 you shud learn to appriciate the draw was not a bad result afta all why panic to much for a mere friendly only?we dont want unnecessary injuries we have big games ahead.congrats boys
what is so great with this result is that the game was a practice match using only one player who featured at CAN2012 and that now we probably know how to use sate sate who i believe in good hands can create some havoc up front..
Think Eric Mwanza would rather the report sayz the team that drew with Angola iz “… not Chipolopolo…”, but a so called “… developmental squad…”! To me the Zambia National Socer Team accounted for themselvez very well in Angola after a four months honeymoon.
now we NEED that friendly we were promised and this time around pliz let it fall on an official FIFA date!
Ba Chipolopolo, no more draw!! As Champs we need to harm small chaps like Angola. For now, ili che!!
Good Result, a draw against Angola at their own backyard is a good result. Football is scientific, there are no easy games
There are no easy games in football these days. Last time around they beat us when we played them in a friendly just before AFCON 2012. Good preparatory game
It looks like Herve Renard is building for the future. Hats off to him.
Well done Zambia away game is not easy especialy every one want to beat the champ please organise more freindlies
