Katebe Excited After Callup

Share

Zimbabwe based defender Aaron Katebe says he is determined to fight for a place in the Chipolopolo starting line-up after being included in the 26-man provisional team for the June World Cup qualifiers.

After playing full 90 minutes in Zambia’s score-less draw against Angola on Wednesday, coach Herve Renard yesterday included the Hwange United player in the squad which enters camp next week ahead of the 2 June, 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
Katebe promised to continue working hard in order to sustain a place in the national team.
“Yes, I am ready to challenge for a starting line up place but it is a big challenge for me. My dream is to play for the national team,” he said.

Katebe stated that he was happy to have marked his debut with a place in the starting 11 in Wednesday’s friendly in Luanda.
“It was good for me as a young player although it was not easy to play against Angola,” he added.
Katebe also paid tribute to  Renard for handing him a national team call up.

  1. Interestingly, Renard who claims to have “forgiven” Clifford Mulenga has not included the young man in his so- called crack squad. In the meantime, Clifford is having such an awesome season down south that he has been nominated for an award for the best goal scored in the South African Premier League this season. To top it all, two big South African teams – Supersport United and the Orlando Pirates – are both fighting to poach him from the Bloemfontein Celtics. And this is a player Renard has decided to “forgive” but thrown into the dustbin!

  2. Ba Max HR cant call everyone. We have enough talent in the midfield. Imagine he has even left Justine Zulu who to me is a better player than Clifford. There are so many games to come. He ll be given time.

  3. @1…
The coach said as long as he is zambian coach, mulenga should forget about featuring.
But due to pressure, the coach was forced to forgive and not forget.
So for now forget about clifford mulenga.

  4. BaLT consinder it a big let down for your failure to capture the face of this young man on this exciting story. Sometimes please be the first to break big stories and at that with quality. Nonetheless, many thanks for the news.
