  1. Here is another utterly pointless friendly with a lowly ranked team…we gain NOTHING from playing these teams that are ranked lower than us… they gain more in points on the FIFA Ranking table if they win or draw.
The Kalu fans always used brag about their king having Sep Blatter to Pele to Platini to Johan Cruyff.in his phone book, from the look of things the guy has failed to organise proper friendly opposition for the AFCON champs. How hard can that be?

  2. Jay Jay kalusha is a fraud, Ive been saying this from the time he was elected FAZ prez. The guy has absolutely no clue on how 2 manage soccer.FAZ needs managers not ball kickers

  3. Why use home based players who will not feature in the qualifiers. The league in Europe is still on recess. We can do well to have all the pros prepare for AFCON. No need to play around, each team is preparing seriously.
Malawi is a better opponent, they have rely apt their game. They recently drew with Nigeria at home and Beat Chad and besides we are taking our local players, so the equation balances.

  4. more friendly games will keep us in good and competitive form. weldone just target the neighbouring countries including rwanda, uganda, kenya, tanzania, swaziland just maximise friendlies whenever there is an opportunity.

  5. Friendly with Malawi????…This just shows how low our ambitions are. They are many teams preparing for the Olympics at the moment that would gladly play the African champions.
How will playing Malawi improve our game or standing as the top African team???..This Kalu chap is very dull and you also ka Renard you should learn to say NO to such rubbish.

  6. Why not inviting one of the top english teams in ndola?

    • Its fine to invite such outfits but their fees are out of Zambia’s world…there are ‘big’ African countries that will play Zambia without us paying them anything…

Spot on..Man Utd and other European Clubs will be touring RSA right about that time, but thankfully these guys don’t back-door under the table Kalu dealings!!

  8. u do not always play big teams, sometimes a team has to play less tense matches to avoid the pressure that teams go through in highly competitive matches…how does it help anybody to move from the pressure of playing big teams like Sudan & Ghana then you quickly rush to Egypt? You can choose to play low profile teams to give the players and the coach the freedom to experiment your tactics rather than just to prove a point against a big team, then as you approach a tournament u play stronger teams to consolidate your tactics, as a coach in my country, Germany, I understand this point. Chipolopolo and FAZ are alright on this one.

  9. Malawi is a very small team. Zambia prepared better by playing ZESCO united before the Ghana game. Going to Malawi will just waste our energies, time and money. More solid teams have been knocking at FAZ asking for a friendly against the african champions and we have been turning them down. Why have we accepted Malawi now??? Better play ZANACO the league leaders at Sunset.

When was the last time you played a friendly with a top 5 CAF team? You won’t learn anything from teams like Malawi, you meant as well play a top Club team, go to the FIFA website and look at how the formulae for calculating points for the table then come back and comment. You fans need to wake up Asap!!

  11. dont aim at always wanting to learn from opponents. The aim should be to polish up on what has been planned for.

  12. Its sad. I don’t mind so much about the opponent but the team we wil feature. This was the best time to organize a reasonable friendly as most of the senior players are around.

  13. Zambians are useless talkative people with no substance. Kalu helps win Afcon with good administration, you still say he is useless. Team now plays in a unique Zambian kit, Kalu is useless. We lose one game one nil to Sudan, HR must go. What is wrong with you people? Don’t you know that you have to pay top teams a lot of money for appearance fees? Do you think you can afford Man U?

  14. Yaba! The reporting is pathetic. Have you noticed the repetition of the article? Just write in one of our native languages.

  15. Terrible reporting from an impoverished country called Zambia, where prostitution, corruption, murder, thugery is the order of the day. Malawi is better than zambia so just feature the whole team not like u did in angola, also economy wise zambia is in the same bracket with malawi ..birds of same feather

  16. At times you hide your tactics from posssible opponents. The draw for Afcom are yet to be done. Its ok friends.

  17. This friendly is inconsistent with our dreams as a football nation. We cant get better opposition for the African champions?Faz should be serious not this childs play.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  18. Iwe number 21 Akuhulu Mpuno be serious here! Zambia are the African Champions. Malawi is far from being there. We are not the same. Our football prowess is in line with our economic level and so even economically we are not the same. Twalatuman fye Forest Rangers kuma Malawi. Herve Renard should go and experiment with team D there because even if we lose no effect. Take the boys to lake Malawi so that they enjoy themselves as tourists.

  19. Couldn’t big European teams take a charitable trip to play Zambia in a friendly? It doesn’t hurt to ask, say MANU, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool. You never know it might be something they have considered before.

  20. FAZ rejected offers from Egypt, Gabon and a host of other strong footballing nations to play friendlies and decided to play Malawi? What stupidity is this? We risk humiliation if we lose even if it is a D team that goes to Blantyre because that team will still carry the name of the African champions.

  21. While Zambia are playing friendly matches against Malawi, RSA will be playing Brazil and Poland in September. Why are the AFCON champs failing to organise decent friendlies against top opposition .

  22. After playing Malawi, the on July 7,Zambia will pick Malawi from pot ,then what happens? Please FAZ Zambia is the current African Champions can’t you get any English team to camp and train then play Chipolopolo in Zambia. As they train, show take them to Kafue National park,Victoria falls.

  23. The problem will have in Zambia is that if you win a game the FAZ incompetences just fade away like a fart in the wind wake up the underlying economics will still remain.

“Team now plays in a unique Zambian kit”

Do you even know how much Nike paid for that sponsorship deal…nobody knows only your great King and his “Yes men” as nothing is transparent with your great king. You want to know how much Umbro deal to kit the England team is worth..just google £26m and on top of that Umbro also supplies the kits for England’s 22 other national sides, which include women’s and disabled teams… it supports the grass roots game, with kits and training for 4,000 amateur teams every year and training for more than 3,000 referees and coaches.

  24. Umbro also partners The FA in the further development of the National Football Centre (NFC) at Burton-upon-Trent, becoming the title sponsor of the Centre. Umbro is also the exclusive supplier of footballs to The FA. The company has been the title sponsor of The FA Umbro Fives since 2007, The FA’s national 5-a-side competition. The FA Umbro Fives national final takes place at Wembley Stadium every year.

Now tell me if your King was that smart he would be working with sponsors to build a training facility for the national team instead of flying to his hometown in RSA.
    Wake up!!

  25. It appears most bloggers here are politicians and not soccer fans. Coz if they were, they would know that Malawi is no longer a small team that Zambia used to beat 4-0s. They have amazingly improved, just 2 weeks ago they held a full strength Nigeria side 1-1. Infact if Zambia is not careful, they will fall at the notorious Kamuzu stadium. In November qualifiers for CHAN start…and this is a tournament for localy players only, no pros. And Zambia currently doesnt have a Chan squad thats why FAZ has started early to organise a friendly so that Herve Renard can try some local players. Zambians are good at just condemning anything..good or bad, like HH. If u dont knw about soccer, please restrict yourselves to politics than just yada-yadaring…

  26. @ 33 I thought you were condemning Politics but why have you included HH in your comments? Ndipo HH anakucitani kantu. Why can’t you leave the man alone? just get rich like him. HH for life!

  27. @35 I used HH, coz i noticed most bloggers here are politicians and will only understand a political example. No offense to HH or you, his followers!

  28. Malawi got independence on the 6th of July 1964 and Zambia on the 24th of october 1964.
This is part of history from what I can make out…manje imwe wanthu lekani kulalata lalata.Kabiri..are we not good neighbours? Walekeni maplayers akamweko naka carlsberg ku Blantyre naimwe..lol

  29. Mphatso

Football is politics and a big billion dollar business for your information…prudent fooball associations are run by savvy enterprising  managers and not gullible fans like you.

  30. How many players from Zambia are playing in the English legue=0, so why are you being so big mouthed my brothers, winning AFCON was just the will of GOD not that you have better players than Malawi. The last time Zambia beat Malawi 4.0 is in the seventies, thats history. The very same teams you beat in AFCON like Ivory coast played in Malawi in 2009, both games ended in a draw, Malawi beat Algeria, Egypt, Morroco between 2008-10. The only difference there is between Malawi and Zambia is the level of commitment and attitude of players. In Zambia you have players like Katongo who single handedly steer things in the team and are proud to play for the National team while many players in Malawi lack commitment, they dont treat soccer as a profession but a part time activity.

  31. But abena Zambia imwe mulayunfwa sana mwamfwa! When Kalusha Bwalya is campaigning for posts in Cosafa, he approaches Football Association of Malawi for supporting votes, and the same applies when he campaigns for CAF positions. But when Malawi requents a friendly match with Zambia, at awe pantu mwalishala, fyabupuwafye!. Ati chiwamila galu kuluma mbuzi, nanga mbuzi imaluma galu?? Tatulemipatikisha nga tamulefwaya.
