Zambia Brace For 2013 Africa Cup Draw

Holders Zambia is awaiting Thursday’s final qualifying round draw for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Chipolopolo is among 30 teams waiting to learn their opponents in the final round of the 2013 Nations Cup qualifying campaign.

The African champions have been seeded together with 14 other nations ahead of the draw.

Zambia is in pot one along side, Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan and Tunisia.

The unseeded countries are Botswana, Cape Verde Islands, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Seven-time champions Egypt will be surprise absentees when the draw is made after they were knocked out by Central Africa Republic and will consequently miss the Africa Cup for a second successive edition.

Besides the pairing of teams, there will be a separate draw to decide which one has home advantage first in the final round scheduled for the weekends of September 7-9 and October 12-14 this year.
