Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard has said he is pleased with Zambia being drawn to face Uganda in the final round of the 2013 Africa Cup qualifiers.
Zambia will host Uganda at home on the weekend of 7 and 9 September before the return match set for the weekend of 12 and 14 October.
“I am relieved that the draw we have been waiting for has happened and now real work starts. As champions we are always under pressure to impress,”
Renard told the Zambia Daily Mail.
” I am not saying Uganda are a small team but everyone now thinks we are invincible after winning the Africa Cup,” Renard added.
And Faz president and soccer legend Kalusha Bwalya says the draw against the Cranes is tough.
“It’s always tough playing against Uganda we know them from the CECAFA where we have played them,” Kalusha told journalists shortly after the draw conducted in South Africa the host nation for next January’s Africa Cup.
“It is not going to be easy. We are African champions so everyone wants to beat us.”
Zambia lost to Malawi this afternoon by 1-0, this is a friendly match & so carries points with it  on the FIFA Ranking table for the winners especially if they are playing a highly ranked team like Zambia Kudos to Malawi…Here is what our smart FAZ President thinks of the FIFA Ranking Table:
” Rankings have never been important to us. Many a highly ranked team has been beaten by a lowly ranked team in the past. Your ranking certainly does not indicate your strength. Too much focus on rankings can give countries a false sense of confidence. Zambia should be ranked first in Africa, we are African Champions after all.”
…how charming is that..only someone lacking in intelligent consideration and forethought & doesn’t know how it works could make such careless ignorant comments.
I am sure Kalu understands how these ranking works, if what you @Jay jay have written above is what Kalu really said he is simply saying that rankings should not be taken too seriously otherwise Zambia, which was ranked zoo far away before the Africa cup, would have no chance of beating highly ranked teams such as Ghana and Ivory coast.
so tell me Jay jay has zambia lost the game?
Yes we lost to malawi and accepted. This is what you Ghanania fools are lacking.. We will continue beating u until you humble yourselves..Go chipolopolo
its football.u lose some u win some.we accept da defeat.BUt will suerely rise to da occation next tym.IF ONLY GHANAIANS COULD ACCEPT DEFEAT AS WELL THEN THIS WORLD OF FOOTBALL WOULD be SO ENJOYABLE……bendiciones
this tie is not going to be easy.. playing an underdog is the hardest thing becoz they are always there to prove a point.. coach Renald tasted them when he was coaching Angola. he can call it is good fixture but trust me there is a lot to prove.. the cranes has been improving over time.. let the eyes be our witnesses..
Thanks for another wonderful article. Where else may anyone get that type of information in such a perfect approach of writing? I have a presentation subsequent week, and I am at the look for such info.
