Kamfinsa referee Milton Mweemba was on Sunday forced to abandon the Faz Division One North match between Kitwe United and Mufulira Wanderers in Kitwe after the home supporters allegedly assaulted second assistant referee Clement Chanda.
Mweemba called-off the week 22 game at Gadern Park in the 65th minute after Chanda sustained a cut on the head after being hit with a bottle thrown by a fan.
The game was abandoned when Kitwe and Wanderers were tied 1-1.
Striker Patience Muteba had given Wanderers a 24th minute lead before Rupert Musonda equalised for the Buchi Boys after 63 minutes.
Meanwhile Kitwe United Supporters Club spokesperson Webster Silungwe denied that his member assaulted Chanda but a neutral fan insisted that a Kitwe supporter had thrown the bottle which hit the match official.
Elsewhere, Ndola United cut Lime Hotspurs’ lead at the top of the table to 9 points after beating Zesco Luapula 2-0 in Mansa to increase their tally to 39 points.
Lime have 48 points.
