ZAMTEL has anounced the addition of the United Arab Emirate based telecom operator and the United Kingdom’s H3G network to its roaming service. According to a statement made available to the media, the two unilateral roaming deals were sealed this month in separate agreements signed between Zamtel, UAE’s Du and Hutchison 3G network of UK.

“This development brings Zamtel’s total post paid roaming foot print to 147 networks in 86 countries and 22 pre-paid networks in 21 countries, including coverage in all the eight neighbouring countries,” read the statement.

“We are pleased to announce the addition of two key business and transit traffic hubs to the list of Zamtel roaming destinations,” said Zamtel Chief Marketing Officer, Evans Muhanga, adding that customers will enjoy the benefit of roaming on the most affordable, convenient and quality Zamtel network while on their business or holiday trips.

Dubai is located south-east of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula and has the largest population with the second-largest land territory by area of all the emirates, after Abu Dhabi. Dubai has emerged as a leading regional commercial hub with state-of-the art infrastructure and a world-class business environment.

It is ranked the second world’s most popular destination for shopping after the United States and ahead of popular shopping destinations like Singapore, France, UK, and Hong Kong among others.

Growing economic activities in Zambia have in the recent past seen increasing business opportunities between Zambia and the UAE. As a result of this thrust, in February this year, a five-times- a week direct flight was introduced between Dubai and Lusaka translating into an average of 400 people per month travelling between the two cities.
