Zesco United on Saturday cut Faz Super Division leaders Zanaco’s lead to two points for at least 24 hours after beating Nkana 1-0 in a week 21 encounter at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Striker Winstone Kalengo scored the deciding goal in the 86th minute as Zesco increased their tally to 42 points taking advantage of Zanaco’s absence from Saturday action.
After Kalengo’s goal, second half substitute Ian Kafusha could have equalised but ballooned his shot at close range.
Zesco were the first to create a clear chance but striker Jimmy Ndhlovu missed the target by inches after dribbling past advancing Nkana keeper Brown Nyirenda after 16 minutes.
Seconds later Zesco keeper Jacob Banda rescued his side from going down after stopping a powerful shot from Nkana’s Evans Kangwa.
Elsewhere, Power Dynamos midfielder Mulenga Mukuka scored a hattrick as the defending champions thrashed Indeni 5-1 at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
Felix Nyaende scored a brace for Power while Michael Mwape inked for Indeni.
That Mukuka Mulenga should be a fantastic player, why not take him for national team and drop Chris Katongo just for one match.. Zambia vs Uganda.
Its high time we watched some exciting games, not just gladiators.
Dnamos go for it. if we can be consistent then we get something gents
Mulenga Mukuka, keep on working at your career ; your time to don Chipolopolo jersey will surely come . With discpline on and off the pitch i guess you will our next Charles Musonda .
