PF Govt has no respect for contracts-Mulusa

Share

MMD vice Presidential aspiring candidate Lucky Mulusa has charged that the renationalization of Zambia Railways is a confirmation that the PF government has no regard for business contracts.

In an interview in Lusaka, Mr. Mulusa observed that the trend of repossession private enterprises will scare away potential investors both foreign and domestic.

“A government that does not respect contracts is bad for business. Investors are looking for destinations that have respect for the rule of law,” Mr. Mulusa noted.

“They did it with ZAMTEL citing alleged corruption and some people gave them a benefit of doubt, they have been threatening the same with ZANACO but with RSZ, there was no mention of corruption and yet they have taken over.”

He said the PF government needs to learn that modern economies are built using free enterprise and innovation and not government controls.

Mr. Mulusa said the government should have chosen an amicable way of resolving whatever differences there could have been with RSZ.

“RSZ investors had its own share of challenges they wanted government to address. This government should have listened to those issues and not an outright take over, this is bad for business,” Mr. Mulusa said.

He said the PF government should realize that Zambia is not the only country striving to attract Foreign Direct Investment adding that unstable policies will do very little to add to Zambia’s attractiveness.

  1. i doubt if this was said by Mulusa if so then it is not the Lucky Mulusa i know back in  South Africa poor judgement or poor finishing

  2. Ba Mulusa mulimbwa. Why are u not making mention of certain important information e.g that RSZ let our infrastrusture deteriorate and yet their objective was to improve it.

  3. This man is right. It’s not about nationalization that a country brings development and employment, it’s by free enterprise and rule of law. This man is right on and deserves to be acknowledged by well meaningful citizens. The lack of respect for the rule of law is alarming and Zambia will continue to lag many developing countries like Tanzania and South Africa.

  4. I remember meeting ba Mulusa in 2008 in Botswana at a funeral house. I tried to reason with him why Sata would rule in 2011 general elections. The guy is as rigid as a rock and could not listen. He was just busy jumping up and down typical of Zambians. I think na concluda that this young man has natural poor judgment.

  5. I agree with you Changu. Exposure is important and education as well enlightens a fool. This guys is right. Regardless of what transpired, a contract has to be respected, especially by the govt, alas everyone will default.

  6. The Laissez faire attitude of MMD towards “infestors” is shocking. One wonders where we would be today. Zesco would probably have gone under the auction hammer of Henry Banda. I don’t see MMD inspiring Zambian voters with such a pathetic attitude enjoying/subjecting Zambians and giving to pain whilst “infestor”s pillage national assets. Whose interests is Mulusa serving I wonder?

  7. Was RSZ respecting the terms of the contract? RSZ was a like a reckless tenant bent on damaging the house. PF Govt as resposible landlord has the right to kick the buggers out. Too many sissies minded Zambians I am afraid with no balls to hold the bull by its horns. It takes guts to build a nation not timidity. Shaa! The decision is even too late becoz of MMD’s recklessnes. Zambian Chaps who negotiated this rubbish deal must also be brought to book.

  8. @ Ba Nkupi….please have your facts right. Honourable Lucky Mulusa has never ever acquired SA citizenship. He has maintained his Zambian citizenship through & through even at the time when he was the Director at the Treasury Dept in Pretoria.

  9. Pleasing foreigners even when they are wrong will not develop Zambia. Mulusa should know that. If you breach a contract like the RSZ did, the government has every right to terminate the contract.

  10. Ba Kalusa so if we had voted MMD it was going to be business as usual. No wonder you wanted to start selling schools, thank God it was never to be! We can never make a mistake to vote MMD even in rebranded/recycled form. In short if you put a house on rent for say aperiod of 10 years and the tenant vandalises your home what do you do Mr Kalusa? Maybe I am myopic I beg to be corrected!

  11. Is its true that Lucky Mulusa was a Director at the Treasury Dept of SouthAfrica? shame on him.no wonder he was fired or contract terminated. He can see that RSZ managers were scrape metal dealers who came to enrich themselves at the expence of Zambian.

ZR limited will be capitalised and all heavy equipment, and copper cathodes to and from the mines will be transported using the railway line thus sparing the highways. The government will make a saving and money and create employment for Zambians. MMD will never bounce back gentlemen.Let SATA and PF rule doe the next 20 years.

  12. MMD forced us to vote for PF PF was nowhere near Government. But the kind of thinking in MMD was/is still amazing and scaring.Again PF will force us to VOTE for UPND.

  13. Though these identical are less expensive evaluating to the unique ones, you will not differentiate anything between both of them
