Over 100 former Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) workers in Kabwe this morning staged a solidarity march past in support of Government‘s move to repossess the rail operations from the Railway Systems of Zambia (RSZ).
The former workers marched from Kabwe Civic Centre through the town centre their to the former ZRL headquarters.
The marchers also inspected levels of dilapidation of infrastructure at the former headquarters before being addressed by Central Province Minister, Philip Kosamu, at his office.
During his address, Mr Kosamu commended the former workers for recognising Government’ s move made through president Michael Sata to repossess the railway company and give it back to the people of Zambia.
Mr Kosamu said it was a well known fact that the Railway Systems of Zambia had lamentably failed to manage the infrastructure.
The Provincial Minister added that the former workers’ response has come at the right time.
Mr Kosamu urged the people of Kabwe to ensure that they protect the remaining assets until the time Government puts everything in order.
And speaking earlier, solidarity march past organising secretary, Kent Chanda, said many people lost their lives while several marriages broke as a result of continued loss of employment of workers under RSZ.
Mr Chanda added that the step taken by Government demonstrates the PF administration’s patriotism.
And Kabwe Central Member of Parliament, James Kapyanga, said the repossession of ZRL has brought hope to the people of Kabwe because the railway company played a key role in maintaining the economic status of the town.
In another development, Bwacha Member of Parliament, Sydney Mushanga, has disclosed that there is a looming relocation of prisons headquarters from Kabwe to Lusaka.
Mr Mushanga said this will make Kabwe loose out as the prison service has been contributing enormously to the economic growth of the district.

What did you expect? Police permit in two days? Hypocrits!
Police permits for what ?This in a noble cause who would want to associate with tribalist like HH who has failed to add value to our society. What can HH tell Zambians what he had done Zambians we are so blind.Sata has a track record he initiated so many social economical and social projects. He speaks for the poor and not HH.I Hve nothing against HH
Were the former workers assured of jobs. I hope they will not start crying tomorrow. Changing Prisons HQ to Lsk? Why do you want to continue congesting Lsk. Everything Lsk.
I think these HH boys on this social media are very back wards and they do not love them selves and their country. What a shame to these prophets of doom.
Good support and we thank you former workers for your solidarity, let us keep on supporting our President and the Party as they continue implementing policies which will make our Country better for our children.

A move in the right direction as far as ZR renationalisation is concerned.

It will soon go pear shaped! You idi.ots are still too immature to run your own affairs! I was astounded to hear Kaunda praising the renationalisation of industries. Kaunda who impoverished the continents then second richest country must be an evil man to recommend policies that destroyed the country. He is as evil as Sata!
WE IS GRZ TAKING OVER UBZ,KAPIRI GLASS,MANSA BATTERIES ?
I MEANT WHEN IS GRZ TAKING OVER UBZ…………….SORRY
This is truly a government for the people, very touching indeed!!
if you knew well enough how Zambia Railways was equip in terms of maintenance shops and equipment and its assets. you may have to think twice on how RSZ is still non functional proper, whereby, copper is still on roads instead and there are no reliable trains despite there overwhelming promises when those took over. Those RSZ are crooks trying to make the Zambian people look stupid. they were given everything that can make a business, and the only thing they have done is simply sell scrap metal that belonged to ZR, *****s and their supporting politicians. this is a fck.
useless government! Sata Failed to Run His Family
This is the most important factor you want to consider. Anything that deals with one’s health has to be accurate. It’s the only way to go. You don’t want to go rushing in to the ER (Emergency room) just because your machine tells you got super high blood pressure. You don’t want that kind of problems and worries.
