Sudan stripped points, Zambia awarded 3-0 results for the world cup qualifier

Sudan National team

BBC reports that Fifa has stripped Sudan of its 2-0 win against Zambia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier because one of its scorers was ineligible to play.

The disciplinary committee of football’s world governing body ruled that Saif Ali should not have played in the 2 June game in Khartoum.

Zambia protested that Ali played despite receiving yellow cards in previous competitive matches, including when Zambia beat Sudan in an Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final in February.

Fifa declared the match “lost by forfeit by Sudan,” awarding Zambia a 3-0 victory and with it the three points for a win.

The Sudan football association has also been fined US$6,430.

Zambia now leads Group D with six points from two matches, and Sudan falls to third place with one point.

Ghana are in second place with three points while Lesotho are bottom with a single point.

Meanwhile, Rainford Kalaba has been ruled of this Saturday’s crucial Africa Cup qualifier between Zambia and Uganda in Kampala because of injury.

TP Mazembe revealed that Kalaba sustained a groin injury in his Congolese side’s 0-0 Africa Champions League semi-final draw against Esperance on Sunday in Lubumbashi.

Mazembe team doctor Taha Messaoud told BBC Sport:”He needs a minimum seven days to be back in training. His injury is not too bad but he needs a lot of care. It will be very difficult for him to play by weekend.”

Confirming his injury, Kalaba said he was disappointed to miss the decisive Africa Cup qualifier.

“I am very disappointed because it’s a crucial game for us. If we don’t qualify, people back home will not understand. I just pray that the guys get a positive result in Uganda. I believe in them and I know they will do wonders,” said Kalaba.

Zambia set up camp in South Africa on Sunady ahead of the Uganda match and trained on Monday.

  1. Good news 4 our Chipolopolo ahead of the Kampala face-off, HR lets weigh dem in the first half n come out attack minded in the last half….2 bad we gonna miss the Maestro in this encounter …..all the best Zambia n remember God is Great!

  2. Zambians you ought to be ashamed of yourselves for celebrating this. If you watched the match you were hopeless, we out played you in all departments  and even if the ineligible player was not to play, we were still going to beat your useless team which won AFCON by a fluke. This is pure injustice. A game is not won by one player. A fine would have sufficed and other teams we feel cheated. This group have been doctored FIFA, pure and simple.

I hope you get taught a lesson in Uganda this weekend. Surely justice will prevail in Kampala. 4-0 to Uganda

    • cheating does not pay Sudan have nothing to offer in african football no wounder they are falling to follow simple rules of the game

    • Sudanese Fans…do us all a favour and say this to yourself 3 times very fast—–> I AM FULL OF MA KA KA.

      Ichitutu iwe atase.

    • Rules are something Sudanese don’t understand very well!!! Just look at the state of afairs in your country—wars, shambolic politics, etc!

My friend, this is the civilized world where rules matter!! By the way, what football can Sudan teach Zambia? You get lucky on one hot sudan’s afternoon and you think you have reached the top in African football? Just a few months before, on a nuetral venue, you were humiliated 3-0 by the same team. Please, talk is cheap!

    • very dull chap, no wonder you will never be to the Africa Cup coz you are too dull to understand basic rules of football. next news please.

    • Sudanese Soccer fan, remember it is NOT Zambia that set rules. The rules apply to all. If u could have beaten Zambia with the same player not in the team, why did u feature him? he was your top man that is the reason.

Do not cry over spilt milk. Zambia won convincingly the AFCON. we beat Senegal, we beat Ghana and repeated again in the WorldCup qualifier, We beat Ivory Coast in the Final. Do what fluke are u talking about.

      Sour grapes.

    • So you thought you can be clever eeeh? Serves you right for being stupid..I can assure you, we are qualifying for AFCON this saturday and will go all the way to the World Cup. This is our time.

    • Wanya mafi, we are CHAMPIONS!!! and things will always go in our favour… HATE IT OR LOVE IT!!! we are having the Africa Trophy!! and off we GO… BRAZIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Rules are Rules Baba,,,,, Waluza wa dabwa….., Atleast we got God, and if God is for us,,,, who can be against us??????, Another Loose in Uganda, but Qualifying is ours for South Africa, U like it or not,, [JUST LIKE IN SUDAN, LOOSING WAS OURS,, BUT POINTS,,,,AND 3 GOALS BELONG TO US,,,] … CHIKUBABE MUNTU!!!!!

    • Sudanese fans u a fool. ZAmbians are inteligent & u are dull. When coming to Zambia come with another suspended player so u can give us some more point. we shall whip yo asses in Zambia. ifu want go buy Messi & Ronaldo & include them in your squard.

    • Sudanese Fan, blame your stupid FA boss for your MISFORTUNE. And blame your stupididty for voting such a useless person in such a high position. Belive it or not WE are the AFCON 2012 champions and we scored all the goals and used eligible players unlike your useless backsides. For your info, in Kampala we will teach Uganda some football lessons like we did in Ndola, Zambia.

  3. for the first zambia will qualify to the world cup.sudan will come to zambia.will can win them at home. We can beat lesotho both home and away.it would them not matter whether we lose or draw to ghana in ghana.looking at the way ghana is playing we can even force a draw.except for egypt all african champions qualify to the world cup. Whats nice about this qualification is the amount of money it brngs to the particpating country.this young boys are massively bringing foreign direct investment.coupled with the eurobond, zambia is going somewhere

  4. no no no #7…you are the cheaters…look at u…now..stop cheating and u won’t be punished..and we were not useless in all departments..we knew there was no need to play because we knew ur luck of understanding football rules just awarded us free points and 3 goals..hope ghana crushes you because we are waiting for some free points again when u visit zambia..we going to bury u for ever…stick to nile basin tournaments u useless bunch..and ur cousins uganda are having sleepless…come saturday..both u losers will pay the price for being minnows of football..the cranes will join u in the house pain..go away

  5. #11 you are loser and your team are sore loser who just threw tantrams like a kid in a candy store and FIFA being a useless and corrupt parent curved in.

Search BBC for live text comentary for that match and you will see clearly the commentors clearly saying that Zambia did not play like champions and we basically camped in their half for the rest of the match and even the match report by BBC for that match clearly said that Zambia would have to find their form real fast.

Zambia was very very poor. We beat them fair and square.  We also heard their coach blaming the use of commercial passenger plane for their lose and NOT use of ineligible player.

what do you say to that my brother.

    • Man just shut you sudan mouth. The fact is that  you are cheaters and you have been punished for cheating. Heey I know you are shocked man, but Zambia is happy….go go Zambia, let the cheater Sudan cry. 3 more points and 3 goals to Zambia chipolopolo….I am Liking it.

    • Is it that you have no respest for rules or you are just dull?  The point here is that, however well you may have played, you used an ineligible player . To that effect, your win has been nullified. Hope that will help you understand, arrogant *****!

    • Ok lets do this right! Sudan played very well, very nice, very everything, but they have lost!! Waumfwa shani??? Chakukalipa te??? If u feel FIFA has NOT passed a fair judgement… Go to Mars and complain to the ALIENS may be they will listen to your nosense!!! SO SHUT THE F*CK UP!!

  6. Bottomline is Sudan won by cheating and the rules says you forfeit points when you do that and so we have won and almost qualified for the World Cup 2014, Brazil, here we come!!!

  7. @sudan fan, stop confusing yourself.football can only be football when rules are followed.sudan failed to observe football rules.and unfortunately for u, the ruling seems to favour zambia.but becomes a beneficially as a result.a beneficially of death for example is not happy about the death of someone, he only benefits as a result. So this could have been ghana, lesotho.or sudan itself had zambia or the other teams done the same mistake. Mistakes are costly.what an opportunity for zambia now.

  8. the point is u cheated urselves by not following the rule book and u need to learn from ur mistakes..it does not matter how u played or prepared..come clean and we going to take u serious on the pitch but if u turn up in lusaka with a bag full of tricks..u know what we are good at..running back to ur beloved parent FIFA to report ur misconduct…as african champions..we are opening a new chapter and we r going to teach the rest of africa that teams must learn to win on merit and not by default..so take it easy bro..sheet happens..u just happen to be victims of ur own recklessness..just move on…its not the end of the road..u still have 4 games to go..2 with black stars..1..with the boogey team..chipolopolo and another with young lesotho..cosafa lads..and i can bet u will take 1 point..

  9. Ohhhhhhh yessssssss! Now this is GREAT news for chipolopolo and ZAMBIA. And looking at the group D individual country stats, we are above them all. In other words, BRAZIL, twaisa b.a. f.i.k.a.l.a. As long we don’t mess up, we are good to. I need to start looking at my 2014 schedule now. Ba Sudan, you should’ve known better you fools. Way to hustle for your points FAZ. I would really like to hear from any Sudanese supporters…any? Am waiting!!!! Now let me drink to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. south africa missed out on qualifying for the afcon finals by neglecting to pay attention to the rules,,,, they did not throw a tantrum, rather they accepted their error and apologised to their fans and promised to do better in future. that’s what we call being accountable for your own actions. sadly it seems that in africa, this is an alien concept…… how the victim is always turned out to be the villain

  11. Chipolopolo (Chikolopelo) win has just made my day. 3points, 3goals. Hahahahahahaha. Great Kalu having a last laugh. Kalu 3:0 Sudan.

  12. #7, FIFA IS NOT IN AFRICA UNFORTUNATELY FOR YOU. HOW YOU OUT-PLAYED ZAMBIA DOESN’T MATTER. WHAT MATTERS IS THE STUPID TRICKS YOU USED TO OUTPLAY ZAMBIA. AND THAT MUST BE CORRECTED.

  13. On this happy moment..can FAZ please make sure we don’t miss out as well. i know king pin stop children SUNZU was red carded in the champions league game against the tunisians over the weekend..R we safe to play him this coming weekend against the flightless cranes?????Please make sure we don’t end up like the thoughtless sudanese. Can someone advise ASAP…….

  14. #7 you are the most ignorant football fan in the world…you are clueless as far s knowing the rules of football are concerned. Honestly you expected a fine for breaking the rules? Do you know what the punishment is if you use an ineligible player in these competitive matches? Stick to what you know best … fighting your neighbors South Sudan and keep away from football. You blue faced ugly piece of SH*T …lol…instead of being Black you are a Blue monster …hahaha voted the most Ugly in the world …

  15. THI IS WHAT WE CALL FAVOUR OF GOD,OF COUSE WE ARE CHRISTIAN NATION AND FAVOUR OF GOD HAS TO BE AT OUR SIDE THANK YOU ALMAIGHT GOD FOR REMEMBER OUR COUNTRY ZAMBIA FOR WE DID N’T CHOOSE U BUT U CHOOSED US!!.

  16. Zambia  did not draft the FIFA rules we just follow them like everybody else, its not our fault, our role is to celebrate the team, the wheels of justice move slowly but they surely arrive. We have been denied for too long, remember Diramba referee,God’s time is best.Congrats

  17. #22 Chipolopolo Boys…LOL, easy on that #7 Sudanese Fans, he is just misinformed and perhaps the heat is getting to his brain. Buti wansekesha ati…’instead of being Black you are a Blue monster’ yaba. Buti ok, ba f.i.k.a.l.a bambi ba ku Sundan bali fita ba mambala iyeeee. Go CHIPOLOPOLO, let’s show Uganda ati tuli bakali next.

  18. I do not know how long this favour may start drifting away to other teams.Remember God for all.May be this saturday 13th God will bid fare well to Zambia and heard to anothe country.Amen!

  19. Without rules, football would be the game of the “jungle”. Maybe Sudanese should stick to the Arabic version of the FIFA rules book. Sudanese, please read the rules book before you enter another competive tournament!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. # 12 just go and kill urself if you think cheating is gid for the game of soccer…Go Zambia….

  21. #7 sorry for being ignorant about the rules of the game! I forgive you! How long have been in football? Goodness fate had it that the team you featured the ineligible player is the same team you played against when the chap was sent out! Your officials and the player(s) must be to blame because your qualification to Afcon where we are regulars was indeed a fluke.

  22. Almost an automatic entry into FIFA 2014 World Cup with little more work required. We need to make sure our boys are in the right psyche when we feature in Brazil. They need to be prepared mentally as much as physically.

    Chipolopolo, iyeee, fipolopolo.

  23. Guys do you know that one day our neighboring countries will start dissing us and sing like this “iyeeee fikolopopolo, iye fikolopopolo ” hahahaha so make sure they don’t get to know this theme

  24. #2 Yes people have lost interest in Zambian Football, because of the Chris Katongo and Renard. Those guys are bullies of unquestionable behaviour. They side-line exciting players like Mbesuma, Clifford, Sate Sate, Fwayo,Jacob Mulenga. What a Zambia we have now.

  25. kekekekeee… Why cant we pandililila UGanda to field un eligible player as well so we can get the three points and qualify to the Africa cup.

    • Really, since when? Nevertheless, it feels good to celebrate at the expense of crooks! And Sudan thought they were clever—-hahahahaha, you got caught—-Kamar is indeed a b!t@h!!!!

  26. Number 43: Zambia/FAZ needs to watch out for red carded Sunzu he may not be elligible for the Uganda match. Please FAZ clarify, read the rules and request CAF, dont mess up, Sunzu may not be elligible he was red carded in an International match btwn mazembe and esperance. FAZ watch out

  27. Anything that sticks a finger at a Sudanese Arab is delicious to me. I can plainly declare that I hate Sudanese Arabs with a passion. If I was president I would locate their embassy in Chibolya compound. Sudanese are cruel animals that should have no place in today’s civilised world. FIFA should have punished them even for the World Cup after the 2018 World Cup. Infact they should have been wiped off Group D all together. They make me sick.

  28. Tell those Sudanese guys that where God’s hand has touched, the way he touched Zambian football, it is favour all the way. Even the Ghanaians cried. It is favour, favour, favour all the way. Hallelujah chipolopolo

    • You would do well to avoid religious fundamentalizm. Jehova God Almighty doez not take sidez in such thingz.

  29. ANALYSIS ANALYSIS… Zambia we WIN Lesoto home and away, Then will WIN the cheating Sudan at Home, Then deciding GAME will be with Ghana of which will DRAW!!! AND OFF WE GO… BRAZILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  30. alll u zambians especially u njenje u people are the aficas disgusting people in the world u eat catepillars is that civiilized how stupid and by the ways Sudan has beaten zambia 10 times more than u people who celebrate like idots after winning afcon which was a fluke u have no history Sudan has better than u ppl and Sudan formed African football so respect the mighty Sudan u sh.ts

    • THANX 4 DE INSULT,,, BUT WE STILL HAVE 3 GOALS AND 3 POINTS WITH US, AND THEY ARE COMING FROM THE MIGHTY CHEATERS,,SUDAN,,,(FIND A TEAM THAT LOSES WITH A DISTINCTION…ONLY ZAMBIA CAN BE THAT EXCELLENT LOSERS,,,WITH POINTS) …. NO MALICE MY FRIEND.. YOU CAN BURST OPEN MY FRIEND… TRUTH STILL REMAINS ” YOU ARE A WINNER LOOOOSER”

    • @57 albraa, Relax man, Njenje is just psyching you up, and it seems he has succeeded. Insulting us won’t gain you any points … it’ll just earn you disrespect. The fact is you people cheated, and therefore deserved to be punished. All we can say is ‘thanks for handing us 3 points on a silver platter’. Now go take a chill pill.

  31. will really miss ba Mupa’s link with Sakuwaha in the midfield. Herve must quickly find a replacement before saturday. Pliz rest Felix, forgive clifford, use chisamba in his natural position & we shall bury the cranes.

  32. #7 – Sudanese idi0t! Whether we lose to Uganda or not will not change the fact that 3 points was deducted from your sorry team. Whether we won the Africa Cup by luck or by skill, we are the champions of Africa, fact. No one wins a major tournament by luck, its hard work and we whacked your sorry team at the championships. I think this is not the forum for you to post f00lish comments about our team. Stick to Sudanese Times don’t come here with rubbish okay.

  33. you so sound to be a narow minded person dear.if u new u were going to win in his absence,y then dd u hav to risk yoselves?luk nw wat it has cost u?its high time nw u learn a BIG lesson.

  34. you sound to be a narow minded person dear.if u new u were going to win in his absence,y then dd u hav to risk yoselves?luk nw wat it has cost u?its high time nw u learn a BIG lesson.

  35. well done FIFA ,zambia must work extra hard to shame those who have been against the sudanese who did not follow the rule of football;GO GO GO GO GO ZAMBIA,we shall be with you………ALWAYS. TRUE ZAMBIAN

  36. Lyonse fya bufi fye bwekabweka. 3 points, 3 goals for nothing after losing. Satan became president out of lies. 90 days, more money, Barotseland, more jobs etc. all lies and now FAZ celebrating 3 points they did not earn.

  37. Justice has prevailed. For those fearing about Sunzu’s red card, it will not apply against Uganda as the card was given in a club match and not in an international match. The chap is good to play. Let’s keep our feet on the ground though as it’s still a very long way to go in the world cup qualifiers. Winners of the group will still have to play a two legged encounter with winners of another group. Having said that, will remain optimistic.
