South Africa Under-17 coach Shakes Mashaba said Zambia didn’t take the game seriously on Sunday at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
Zambia lost 1-0 at home to South Africa under-17 to bow out 2-1 on aggregate from the 2013 African Junior Cup second round qualifiers.
“What killed Zambia is they were too relaxed. They were confident with the 1-1 that they got in the first game and we needed one goal and that would be amen and fortunately we got it,” Mashaba said.
Meanwhile, Zambia Under-17 coach Oswald Mutapa described elimination from the Morocco 2013 qualifiers as a bitter pill to swallow.
“It is a bitter pill losing at home 1-0. They scored a scrappy goal in which they were well organized from a corner kick,” Mutapa said.
“When you look at their (South African) age you are able to tell that these are young boys.”
Good that they are young boys, SA. Iwe Mutapa you have 30 year olds as your players mu under 17 te? Be serious iwe.
makula abaiche …they deserved to be kicked out ….
never take things for granted.we need avery serious young team pliz
the coach took the sa team for granted becoz they are young boys.thanks to the young boys for teaching us a learson that soccer has no young age but skill.
This type of attitude stems from the senior team. They were so relaxed in Uganda! Poor passes. Few shots at the goal. Relaxed coach. Long blind balls. loose marking. The Bikolopelo had simply nothing to offer. No wonder one football commentetor had remarked that ‘expecting Zambia to defend the African cup is to ask for one miracle too many’! Hopeless. But, where is Kamanga and Simataa to come and jack up these lazy fellows at FAZ? They are not serious.
Simata , kamanga my foot
When i was at Munali secondary school i coached Andrew Tembo,Martin Nkhoma,Joseph Chikoti,Owen Mbewe,Dabwiso Nkhoma,Shy Kumwenda ,Sam Banda,Joseph Chileshe etc.Where are these guys?I taught them how to win games and i thought they can teach these under 17 boys how to play football and win games. They are totally lost and clueless.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.
