President Michael Sata has said that the state will defend and protect the Litunga and the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) from any attempts of aggression being created by a clique of misguided individuals.

This is contained in a media statement made available to the media by State House.

The Head of State said that he had credible information that there are certain frustrated and ill-advised persons that are manoeuvring to bring strife to the Litunga and the BRE.

President Sata has warned that the state security wings will not sit idle and watch reckless people sow discord in Western Province.

“This Government is committed to ensuring peace and stability in Western Province and views the Litunga and the BRE as an important part of that process. The Litunga and the BRE symbolises national unity and identity,” President Sata says.

“Therefore, those seeking to undermine the Litunga and the BRE using unlawful means will be dealt with firmly. As responsible elected officers of the people we pledge that urgent and practical measures will be engaged to nip these illegitimate schemes in the bud.”

    • Is he not…like any other chief? I mean i respect him as a traditional leader and his place in our institutions is given…but really whats the difference with Mpezeni? I think Mpezeni is actually likable because he is close to his subjects, gets drink and is clobbered once in a while!!! THE LITUNGA IS LIKE ANOTHER CHIEF…he is a good man, quite, soft spoken…he actually needs to show his qualities in resolving this balose crisis…

  1. Habeenzu seriously …..?? u are thinking in those lines someone is trying to prevent blood shed be real it doesn’t matter whose is who the truth is the blood shed that was experienced last year should not happen again simple logic..aisha..!!!mufwentu.

  2. Aha! Please arrest shuwanga and that so called professor now mr hard working presido.Am enjoying this in fighting in Ghaza strip(barotseland).

  3. Sure the Litunga need protection from selfish, misguided, cantankerous individuals who are bent on causing problems for the innocent and wise Lozis.Be careful or else you will rot in jails for ever!!Do thse people what the sentence for treason is?Dont be exited by stupid illusions.YOU MAY END UP IN THE FIRE FROM THE FRYING PAN!!

  4. Protect the Litunga? The same person youve been insulting? Colonial dress? Sold Land that did not belong to him? Sata , it seems you and your entire government are fans of the Zambian Watchdog. It is the Watchdog that reported this allegation; as the Barotse stuff is largely their petty project. Now that youve confirmed your unquestionable trust in the Watchdog reportage, we as PF cadres have no alternative but to believe what is written about you and your government by the Watchdog!

  5. AFFTER LYING TO POOR LOZIS. SATA RESORTS TO DIVIDE AND RULE TACTICS. HOW CAN SATA PROTECT THE LITUNGA WHEN HE WAS THE ONE IN THE FOREFRONT THREATENNG AND LYING TO THE LITUNGA B4

    • THE POOR MAN LITUNGA IS A ZAMBIAN SUBJECT. RULED BY HEMCS. AND IT IS THE DUTY OF THE PRESIDENT TO PROTECT ALL THESE TRADITIONAL OLD GUARDS WHO PRESERVE OUR RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE. WELL SAID MR PRESIDENT. AND WE NEED THE KUOMBOKA CEREMONY. IT ADDS COLOUR TO OUR CULTURE.

  6. Ndye basankwa aba.Well said bwana president…now lets find tht outspoken professor and crucify him through his lower opening.

  7. but money corrupts indeed,,,where is moral aspects here..Sata is not honest man..watch out guys..the man is a typical lier on earth..he never be there for ever,,leaders come and goo,,Sata will go one day

  8. Wise words from Mr President. His E MCS. We want unity and prosperity. People from western province are our brothers, sisters, mothers, uncles, nephews etc. The only people bitter about this development (who ideally want bloodshed in the western region and indeed confusion through out Zambia) are HH and his followers – the so called UPND bloggers. Shame on you.

  9. The Litunga is right on this issue. The inter marriage that has happened in Zambia makes our children tribaless. It is largely the old folks who are still hiding into this tribe thing. HH told the Litunga that if he assumed power he will also maintain a unified state during his Westerten Province tour. Not a single head of any political power has said they will breakup Zambia into Tribe enclaves. Viva HH for being frank with the the Litunga.

  10. Looks like Prof Clive will be the next Zed Presidente, Chi Sata got game hey, he learnt from the best FTJ…yaba…! Wapya baisa

  11. The majority lozis who are our friends, wives, husbands, neighbors, workmates, children are not interested in the split. It is a minor group that has now been ditched by the Litunga and sponsored by HH who are causing confusion. Sata never promised the Lozis any split from Zambia so please UPND cadres do not call our president a liar. The liar is HH who is in court for allegations he cannot prove. My kids speak in one centence Lozi, Bemba and English. Believe me I love it.

  12. Tribalists are upset!!! It is like the Republicans talking about joblessness and the jobless rate starts going down! Wow! The pain! The pain!

  13. Keep up Mr President, but this kind of protection should extend to all traditional leaders. Please Sir! No particular cases. Anarchists and law breakers should lawfully persecuted.

  14. Sata has told you that he is the only experienced politician, yet every one was doubting. He has played his cards right and he has the BRE confused and the opposition in disarray.

  15. Never known the Litunga to be under threat from any one except PF govt sending defence personnel (Police, Army and ZAF) to harass the Lozis for agitating to separate from Zambia. For Sata to claim to defend the Litunga today is typical of Sata lies if not Bembas ligacy of untrustworthy.

  16. The Litunga can’t turn against his people no matter what. The BNC resolutions are final.
No amount of K40 Billion of corruption will stop the self determination of Barotseland.
Yesterday, The Litunga had no powers yet today you want to protect him.
The fact is that,The Litunga is a King of Barotseland Kingdom and without BA 64, all have reverted to their original status.
In Barotseland, people rule and have rights, not the police state we have seen.
Come rain, come sunshine or snow, nothing will stop Barotseland’s Independence.
BNC resolved, hence its a non reversable solution to the BA 64 impase.
Only Barotish can and will protect the Litunga. Now you see that he is bigger than you eeh?
