MMD Copperbelt Province Information and Publicity Secretary Yotham Mutayachalo has claimed that the MMD eradicated long queues for people buying meali-meal when it was in power.

Mr Mutayachalo said long queues were common in the UNIP government where people were made to struggle in few leading shops to fetch for essential commodities of life.

Mr Mutayachalo also boasted that the MMD produced bumper harvests in its 20 -year rule.

The MMD Copperbelt Publicity Secretary also paid special tribute to former president Rupiah Banda who he said managed to produce two bumper harvests that saw no meali-meal shortages.

Mr Mutayachalo told Journalists at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday that the ruling Patriotic Front should not blame the millers but solve the problem of the meali-meal shortages that has hit some towns on the Copperbelt province and Kasama in the Northern province.

Mr Mutayachalo who is MMD losing Chama North parliamentary candidate, has advised republican President Michael Sata to give direction to the country and desist from concentrating on ‘poaching’ MMD Members of Parliament currently serving as Deputy Ministers in his government.

And Mr Mutayachalo has dismissed media reports that the MMD is cracking saying it is normal for any political party to experience problems but was quick to say the wrangles in his party (MMD) are a minor set-back.

“MMD is not cracking, it’s a minor set-back because there are difficulties in any political party,” he said.

Mr Mutayachalo further said the UPND should not deceive itself that it can work alone, adding that political parties have one objective of serving the Zambian people.

He said in a democratic dispensation like Zambia, opposition political parties needed to work together to give government checks and balances.

  1. Ba Mutayachalo imwe, ubulimi bwakale tabutalalika umwana! MMD is nolonger a factor in Zambian politics, it has has gone wit FTJ (MHSRIP). Just leave that titanic and come onboard the PF. It was during MMD when we had yellow maize so what bumper harvests are you claiming to have produced? Just concentrate on salvaging your scrap of a party.

    • You must be one of Ukwa’s illegitimate children. Your stu.pid dad has failed. Everything is crumbling down in Zambia. The only thing your PF has been successful in, is building a nepotistic and tribal empire. You people are an incompetent lot.

    • learn to accept ba pf.what has MMD to do with shortages.seleni tubombeko when you are failing.what are working on trouble every where.

  2. It is appalling that ordinary things like food production and distribution is under siege from politicians – this, to put it simply, is criminal. We must protect certain aspects of life and declare them out of limits to politics. We are still behaving like pre-independence i.d.i.o.t.s

  3. Well said Sir! Mr Sata should concentrate on giving direction 2 the nation than poaching what he can’t eat-MPs. Bu CNP bwacila no wonder he had to leave dignitaries at state 2 attend to water shortage at UTH. Mealie Meal.water, electricity e don’t kubeba! Meantime, I miss some MMD names-Mutayachalo,Mbulakulima,Mwikalapanse,Champeshamano…….

  4. Ba Zed ukutemwa ubwali, its high time people switched to other food stuffs like rice, potatoes, pizza or at least matoki as staple foods. Agricultural and culture diversity is needed in Zambia to break this cultural dependence on Meali meal. New frame work on Agriculture and economic policies is needed.

  5. These PF buffoons are just good for nothing incompetent tribalists. Honestly, when you look in the faces of Sata, Sakeni, Kambwili, Chikwanda etc; all you see is dullness. This is actually very good because these good for nothing maggots have been exposed. Proof that loudmouths do not equal competence nor intelligence. Seleni tubembeko, my foot!

  6. YOU SEE, PF IS MAKING A LOT OF MISTAKES. IMMEDIATELY, THEY OCCUPIED OFFICE THEY SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN RID OF MMD CHAPS IN STRATEGIC AREAS SUCH AS EMBASSIES AND HIGH COMMISSIONS, JUDICIARY, FRA, HOSPITALS/MINISTRY OF HEALTH, ETC. IT’S COMMON SENSE. ALL THOSE MMD SYMPATHISERS ARE STILL IN GOVT AND PARASTATAL ORGANISATIONS AND FRUSTRATE ALL EFFORTS TO DEVELOP ZAMBIA. TAKE FOR INSTANCE EMBASSIES AND HCs. MMD ARE STILL THERE AND IN THE MAJORITY AND FRUSTRATE ALL EFFORTS OPENLY AND SECRETLY. EMPLOYERS ARE GANGING UP AGAINST MINIMUM WAGE. JUST RECENTLY, THEY LOST THE APPEAL CASE AGAINST MINIMUM WAGE AND YOU THINK THERE’S ANY WONDER THERE’S A SHORTAGE OF CON MEAL. PF PULL UP YOUR SOCKS OR OPPOSITION THEY PULL THEM UP FOR YOU.

  7. @8.peter-that is the mistake pf made-to remove pipo wen u don’t know rhetorically system. Whenever u take over leadership demands u don’t chop and change fast but Sata did that and he is now exposed. Make changes strategically and not abruptly

  8. All these chaps were not in MMD when we formed it so what is this herd boy talking about? If he has got a solution let him come out. Even in MMD we had lapses from time to time. Infact in my opinion, this thing called mugayuwa has caused more problems than the low price of copper. All leaders spend more time on this nonsense than on anything else. I was in Chiwempala, Chingola yesterday. A truck brought enough bags for 500 house holds, but what did we see, people buying 20 bags each and loading them on Spacios ready to ferry to Chililabombwe.

  9. Principle – Much as you may be right, we Zambians are not honest. There is no guarantee that the chaps were going to be loyal to PF. Remember each president has always removed the workers from the past government.
