Zambia Fined US$3000 By CAF

Share

Zambia has been fined US$3000 while Ethiopia goalkeeper Bushura Tasew is banned by the CAF disciplinary committee.

And Ethiopia have also been slapped a US$ 10,000 fine on top of the player suspension.

CAF has fined Zambia after four of its players were yellow carded in the 1-1 draw against Ethiopia.

The players on cards are Collins Mbesuma, Joseph Musonda, Stopilla Sunzu and Chisamba Lungu.

Meanwhile, Tasew has been handed a two-match ban after his rough tackle on Chisamba that led to hiss 32nd minute expulsion on Monday.

The CAF disciplinary committee has fined Ethiopia for the crowd trouble that led to a five minute stoppage when Ethiopia fans threw bottles and Vuvuzela’s on the pitch at Mbombela Stadium after Tasew was sent off.

    • They always accrue fines. It is the case even in the local country leagues. That is why sometimes you’ve seen cases of players being docked part of their salary for accumulating an unnecessary number of either yellow or red cards.

    • some yellow cards where wrongly given.. FAZ should appeal against some yellow cards. How many fines are we going to encore if from the fist game we have already lost $3000 from the $1.5million prize money ?? The finals are quite far you know

    • Does the $3000 fine mean that the 4 yellow cards have now been “condoned” and are excluded from accruing to any future ones?

    • That is cheap just $750 per person?? Go for 10 cards next time.
Unfortunately, only best players were carded, sign of hardwork.

    • Meek mills. Players are given cards for indispline on the pitch. It can be anything, fighting, insults, foulplay or wasting time

  1. Good call CAF; of the four yellow cards we received…Stopilla Sunzu’s was reckless as the ball was going nowhere and a scissors in the Ethiopian players midriff…c’mon Sunzu.
As for the Ethiopian fines my question is where did their fans get bottles from? These are dangerous missiles that should not be allowed or sold in stadia together with those hideous noisy rackets called vuvuzelas…gone are the glorious days of fine tuned vocal support….please CAF fine the RSA organisers as well.

  2. Zambia play well next time but that referee was wrong to yellow card Mbesuma the tv replay clearly shows the striker was pulled down that ref is rubbish.

  3. Zambia (faz) should appeal on the yellow card handed to Mbesuma. Study the clip on that occasion and you will note that that was a harsh decision by the referee. From a review of the games I have done, the refereeing standards are usual poor at these Afcon games. CaF decisions are also questionable: why should a team pay Caf money for yellow cards? What rule is this? Are these written rules or just things they make-up as they go along.

  4. that referee was real good, he successfully accomplished his task but what CAF is doing is not clear. Banning the Ethiopian player for his foul is fair but why is so important to favor Zambia??

    • Refereeing standard was poor; for example, time-keeping and decisions on some yellow cards were highly questionable. I am surprised to hear you say: “he successfully accomplished his task”. That could mean many things, depending on who gave the task.

    • My brother may you blog in Amharic because you are not decipharable-And so are all your fellow Ethiopians trying to blog here

    • If you use Google or what ever search engine you use, all websites are siting LT. I can only assume LT was told by FAZ coz its not yet on the CAF website

  5. What ever bane you made on our heroes….Ethiopian renaissance is a all bounded and no one has the power to stop it even an iota from our journey of success!..Our success will breed millions of successes! Just wait and see. VIVA Ethiopia..the land of victory!

  6. No guys CAF are stealing money. Yellow cards are not fineable. After all when you accrue two you are suspended why should you be fined on top of that? Then they should pay teams without cautions. We have won the most sporting team(for the fewest fouls) some three times without any money. Hayatou stop your corruption

  7. The yellow cards decisions and the subsequent fines are very suspect. Quite strange. They seem to be a money-spinning venture and I hope they will apply to all participating teams without favour. I agree with those who are calling upon the FAZ to appeal.

  8. Who is the president of CAF? Tell him the money they are collecting at this AFCON through yellow card fines must be be equally shared among the participating teams. How much is charged for a red card per player. They should also fine those who are using Sangomas like South africa. For these the fine must be ten times higher that for the yellow card.

  9. I think they FAZ and the players know the rules of the game before the match.. If FAZ feels there is need to appeal, let them do so. But most important thing is that those yellow cards are NOT impossed on a team.. It is individual players that sholud account for from their earnings after the outing.

  10. CAF should have fined US 90k instead of that little sum. We’re wasting time and money on this instead of putting the $90k into some of our awful classrooms, health centers or clearing the trash that causes floods in Lsk.Gosh,i hate football and i hope zed lose.

  11. CAF should also ban o fine south africa for using juju. what do you think because foot ball is about skill and talent and not juju, shame on bafana bafana the juju masters.

  12. Waona manje no money in our pockets.
CAF IM GIVING YOU 90 days to return our money if not do so with immediate kekeke

  13. CAF and their officiating are a big joke, any explanation as to why only three minutes was added on after what was clearly lengthy stoppage when Chisamba and the goalkeeper went down? The ref was below par in that game, rarely allowing the game to flow. Please CAF, we all know the tournament has been a flop in terms of gatetakings thus far but you can find other ways of making money.

    • Chachine, I was looking out for that. The man was down for about Nine minutes. The commentator said 11 minutes. But only three minutes were added after the half. I was baffled and thought he would perhaps take the remaining minutes to the next half but he didn’t

  14. What????????????? Ethiopian crowd???? Those were South Africans. We all know that. South Africans hate Zambians with a passion

  15. Ifimakula who cares, bola ya pulu kutu pulu kutu, po po. Came tomorrow will fined $ 10,000.00 when mighty Eagles Wire you, confidence ya chipenfu. ATASE

  16. Spot on Rebased Zulu. Ethiopia even Televised the match without pay TV rights.. When will legal action follow on this crooks?shame.

  17. How can you fine a country because of the mis-conduct of its fans. This is labbish! If I go and cause a fight at the pubs in a foreign country, now does that mean you fine Ba Sata’s government! This is labbish rogic!
