RB urges Catherine to win tomorrow’s fight

Share

Former Republican Rupiah Banda has advised female boxing sensation Catherine Phiri to go for an outright victory in tomorrow’s defence of her World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) bantamweight belt against Leslie Domingo of the Philippines.

Mr. Banda says victory for Catherine would serve as a fitting appetiser for the Zambia national soccer team as they take on Lesotho in a Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in Maseru on Sunday.

He believes that judging from Catherine’s performance in her last international fight against Canada’s Nathalie Forget in October last year, the Zambian pugilist possesses enough skills to defend her title tomorrow.

ZANIS Sports reports that Mr. Banda said this in a statement released in Lusaka, today and signed by his Acting Deputy Administrative Secretary Kennedy Limwanya.

On the Chipolopolos, the former head of State has urged the squad to put behind the disappointment of their failure to defend the 2012 African Cup of Nations title by ensuring that they get a comfortable result in the away tie against Lesotho.

President Banda says despite the early exit from the 2013 Africa Cup, Zambia can still go all the way and qualify to her maiden World Cup appearance, adding that recent African football results have shown that anything was possible for any team that had a positive attitude.

The retired President is an ardent sports administrator and once served as Football Association of Zambia vice-president and was involved in the sports management team that oversaw Zambia’s golden era of professional boxing in the 1980s.

    • Well this guy thinks he is smart, let’s wait for next friday… And then the friday after next…

guys if you want to have a good laugh just read speeches by HH when Rupiah was president priceless..

    • RB is relaxed and has a competent team focusing on his legal battles. it seems you are the one tensed up on account of RB exhibiting no signs of stress. Your wicked mind just prays to see RB suffer. From all your posts even on other stories it is clear that it eats you up inside to see RB going about his business as normal. I am sure you wished you had a retirement package like his and time to spend with two lovely twins. Oh how you wish! RB will continue receiving international acclaim while you go green with envy. So if i were you I would just relax, chill, take it easy, stop stressing…….. maybe one day you will achieve as much as RB has done.

    • But i thought he is also a Zambian thus has the right especially as a former head of state, though he blundered!

    • I CONQUER WITH @LION, IMWE A MUDALA MUTU PALIBE, THE WAY RB IS CARRYING HIMSELF IS THE WAY YOUR MCS IS SUPPOSED TO BE. BUT ALAS NOW LOOK, WHAT IS HAPPENING AROUND US!?: THINGS FALL APART!

TO TELL U DA TRUTH: MUMEMBE CAN KEEP A DEAD BODY IN PLOT 1 TILL 2016 JUST FOR THEM TO FINISH THIS TERM, OTHERWISE, THE MAN IS UNFIT!!! FINISHED!!! WE KEEP WISHING HIM WELL IN HEALTH BUT, IF IT IS TIME, TIME IS TIME!!!! TIME KNOWS NO RELATIVE, KNOWS NO STATUS, KNOWS NO WEALTH!!! IT IS TIME!!!

    • Innocent or guilty, RB’s love and passion for sport cannot be doubted. My only worry with Chipolopolo is that unpredictability ; they can beat one team 2-0 but then lose 4-0 to another within days. What happened to consistence?

    • Kabimba bought 30 laptops and dished out to aa bunch of fools including you. So whatever puke you spew on this blog especially LT because it is not widely read is to please your master.but why can you sink so low? Anyway poverty grinds i understand

    • People don’t waste time on this maxwell lunatic. He is a hired gun.he is the same fool blogging under the name BIG L.he is a scam.they are 10 they paid KR2 per silly comment.they get paid at bwinjimfumu

    • Maxwell, a rabid dog is better than you. If I were you with such a filthy mind, I would avoid exposing my dullness on a site like this one. Who do you think you are to tell a person of RB’s stature like that? In case you spend most of your time at a bus station loitering, I want to let you know that Africa is counting on RB to help promote free and fair elections on the continent. Please allow the courts to do their work now that his immunity has been irregularly removed.

    • Yes Catherine Namuga.. hoo sorry Phiri, akakatokole be a fighter like RB.
RB vs Sata, 3rd round Sata can be saved by the referee.

  1. RB your battle is bigger than Cathrine’s; did u have to issue a statement? find other ways to relax from your stress.

    • RB is relaxed and it seems you are the one tensed up on account of RB exhibiting no signs of stress. In your wicked mind you are praying to see RB suffer and it eats you up inside to see him going about his business as normal. Relax, chill, take it easy, stop stressing……..

  2. This is barbaric. Putting people in a ring and watching them kill each other for pleasure is demonic. Boxing is not a sport, it is exploitation of poor people.

    • Oh please! Last I checked no one was focused to box. To say they kill themselves is such an exaggeration, simply don’t watch if you’re that sensitive.

  3. Utwanakashi twaku Chipata tetwakupa iyoo. There’s been Esther now its Catherine. Twaishibafye Ulubuli lyonse mung’anda

  4. Ala bee likes sports, don’t worry ba bwezi catherine will win.women from the eastern part of zambia know how to throw nkonya.

  5. Good advice. The question is, is it ell intended, or is it a political ploy to manipulate public opinion by appearing to be in touch with the interests of the people, in the light of the negative media we have been getting of late? So, get public sympathy through this sort of strategy? Either way, good advice anyway,

  6. RB thanks for the Presidential encouragement. You’re the President the country needs. Benangu babisama! Bafisanji ba mambala!

  7. For RB boxing is in his blood. He worked for the GPO ( General Post Office) in the 50s and whilst in Kasama beat up his white supervisor called Johnson. In the dead of the night, ZANC or UNIP smuggled him into Tanzania and was at their Dar es Salaam office until the early Sixties when he returned to Zambia as Namboard GM. His first borne son, probably James Banda, was born of a Livingstone Mother who may be Tonga or Lozi. Whilst at Grain marketing Board ( Namboard) he favored Nigerian accountants over Zambians, for some unknown reason. It was after assaulting Mr Johnson that RB was inducted into politics.

  8. People with bad hearts never live to enjoy old age. Revenge revenge revenge! RB is presidential material, unlike our sickly kaponya in state house. GOD is great! NO enjoyment in state house.

  9. WHERE IS CATHERINE NAMUGALA!? NO MORE DRAMA ACTION!?

BA NEVERS NABENA TOO QUIET, NI OPOSITION YA BWANJI KANSI!???? MWATI 2016 IZA NKHALA BWINO!????

KWA CHOKA NA PEOPLE’S PARTY MANJE!!! A HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HEHEHEHEHEHE I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING, WHO ADVISES THESE GUYS!????

  10. @Landa. I have researched. I’m in my early 50s, so I can’t possibly be his friend. In his youth, RB was a Cowboy and couldn’t stomach the racism that his white English Supervisor, who was about his age was exhibiting towards him and other Africans, so he got involved in an altercation with Johnson and clobbered him. It was un heard of, for an African to beat up a European, so RB became an instant hero and the freedom fighters identified his hawkish, no nonsense character as useful for the struggle. He went into hiding as the colonial Police, who may have included an African cocky constable called Micheal Chilufya Sata, conducted a man hunt for him. But the freedom fighters smuggled the young RB to Dar es Salaam. He was in his late teens or early 20s. This bad blood between Sata and…

  11. Editor, Moderation from 05hrs? May be because its a weekend? I hope this doesn’t go in moderation as well.

  12. Why do we have courts when Zambians convict through the media mwe Bantu? It is a sheer waste of public resources to take RB through trial when guys like Maxwell, Big L et al have already convicted him?

  13. In contrast bloggers, RB is our former president, a parent to all Young Zambians, Nothing wrong of Him encouraging us to excel in whatever we do. Its blessing for young Zambians. Let’s not be so negative. I see lots of hate which is really sad for a proclaimed Christian Nation. We should live to LOVE. Well DONE BA MUDALA FOR WISHING THE YOUNG LADY WELL. GO CATHERINE YOU HAVE ALL THE BLESSINGS.
