Catherine Phiri successfully defended her WPBF bantamweight title after a second round stoppage of Leslie Domingo from the Philippines.
Domingo failed to show any of the fighting pride we have become accustomed to from the fighters famed fighters from her homeland like Pacquiao and Donaire.
The Pilipino retired in the second round from what looked like a sore right shoulder.
However, Phiri barely broke sweat in her most offensive performance to date over the two rounds in which she blitzed her opponent with some fierce shots.
What kept Domingo standing was her strong chin that soaked-in two telling uppercuts from the Zambian.
But it was the two jabs midway through the second round that drained Domingo to signal to her corner for time in what was the usually cautious Phiri’s easiest fight to date.
Phiri, 21 says she is set to take a scholastic sabbatical to finish her Grade Nine before taking on her next opponent.
The Zambia’s stretched her unbeaten run to six successive fights.
thumbs up to catherine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Where is Willie Nsanda? New bride on the block mate hehehe
Next bout Sata Vs RB?
Welldone Catherine, u have made Zambia proud.
Good Catherine wakatokola… and fantastic that the girl decides to continue with her school, keep training.
Good job Cathy… You’ve made mother Zambia proud. Renard and your boys please maintain the winning trend…
Should Renard MAINTAiN or START winning?
Where are the MEN boxers
Ta wamumona Galagata Zulu? Wachilashipula?
Nice one Catherine!!
21 yrs still in grade 9. I was doing my 4th yr at UNZA when I was 21. Anyway, congrats for beating the filipino lady and nice to know you wanna concentrate on education first before facing another opponent. That is a smart idea coming from a smart boxer.
It is never too late with education. I finished secondary school when I was 20. Completed my masters degree at 30 and planning to complete a PhD at 50. Congratulations Catherine and do not give up your plans.
she’s fighting to raise money for her education where as YOU had it on a silver plata. Please, do not compare your fortunes with others, walk your walk as she walks hers. You never know what she’s been through her life.
In fact we should encourage our sportsmen/women to complete secondary education and encourage them to take up basic financial education courses…to avoid them going from rags to riches and back to rags again.
& yet she is makin a million bucks faster than you & your degrees combined……@ 21 Balotelli was earnin USD 100,000 plus per week & YOU were struggling survivin on soya pieces in yo 4th year @ UNZA…
Another Mushota.
21 year olds these days are still babies. I can’t employee any 25 year old, he/she will behave like a 15 year of 1999.
@choncho, it seems you simply cruised thru unza without taking time to gain understanding. just bear in mind that there’re countless people who life has never given the the PRIVILEGE of entering even grade 1. with your level of thinking you might as well mock everyone who was still-born!
@ Chocho, you education hasnt helped you much in your thinking capacity it sims you have been miseducated instead, you need to go back to the ninth grade and start over idio t
Where you also a boxing champ at theUNZA ruins? Lol!
What kind of a person are you? don’t compare your fortunes to that of Catherine. Some of you received education on a silver plate and she is trying her best to raise school fees through her skill, by the time she will complete her grade twelve she is already a millionaire while you are suffering with your degrees. Most of you chaps from UNZA fail to perform at work bcoz u are just proud of being at UNZA. Keep your degrees and leave phiri alone.
Education is not calculus, l am an Airline pilot, got my first degree well into my thirties, my Masters in my forties and now nearly fifty working on my PhD. l dare say l still feel the urge to continue learning. Education also teaches us a rational way of thinking and most of all never to mock those who are under privileged, and may not have had the same opportunity we have had in life. Even better to try to encourage her than laugh at her now, you never know where she will end up with her little education and only hope with God’s grace, that you are a CEO of a multinational company or l hope heading there! All the best with your UNZA education Choncho!
But she has already earned more than you already have kekeke
Yes and she is far much richer than you at 21. Not everyone had an easy life in their childhood so lets encourage her to pursue school.
Pliz make sure Nsanda doesn’t get near her!!!
choncho
You are never to old to learn in fact we should encourage our sportsmen and women to complete secondary education, LT admin don’t you photos of Cathy in your archives!!
*…you have photos of Cathy……..
Eastern power! Esther Phiri, Catherine Phiri–mwasebenza ncito ambuya.
Can we also try Sata Vs RB?
Who are their trainers’s names?
And we train them Eastern chicks.
well done, investing in your education is a good idea.
Some of these people are so dull, that they think everything should be compared to them. Iwe choncho, so what! if you were 21 when you were at deplorable UNZA?
Stop comparing age, 21 yr old is a baby nowadays. When Zambia got independence, in 1964, KK was 40 yrs old, he looked like a 60 year old of today. He looked much older than 50sh HH. Masebo’s sons are in 30s, but she still looks and behaves like a 33 yr old single woman.
You who went to university at 21, that’s was in the 90s.
Mugabe is almost 90 yrs old, but he can still rule Zim for next 10 years successfully. No wonder retirement age is commonly now at 65 yrs, compared to 45 yrs in 1990.
Catherine is still a very young girl let her do school and fight.
Bravo to Cathy! Pipo let us learn to give merit when one is doing well. Catherine MUST be encouraged to continue with her education at 21 yrs. Abash to self-fish and heartless sugar dadies who would want to ruin her future. And her trainer should provide good counsel to cathy NOT like Anthony Mwamba. Lastly, chipolopolo team should score goals asiti nyimbo ya masiku onse yo teya bwino bola and failing to score.
Yes but please leave Antony Mwamba out of this. Esther was not 21! Moreover Willie Nsanda ni boma.
I couldn’t help but notice the behavior of PF political thugs with their menacing clenched fist symbols, in their usual drunken stupor, singing the national in slurred tones and gazing ahead with blood shot eyes. There were others also singing the national anthem with a raised finger, maybe the “middle one” or the fore finger. I didn’t understand that. But I also saw porty and beer bellied and “thick steak necked” Government officials who were invited in the ring. But after all has been said and done, well DONE cathy!
Taumfwa hahahahaha!!
I think you can write a book, taumfwa hahaha!
Well done cathy.
Nchocho…you are one of the educated fools from UNZA. If you don` t have positive ideas to contribute on this noble forum, better you keep silent than exposing your foolishing. Thanks.
21 years my foot. So what chi CHONCHO!
@ CHONCHO with your cheated results ,why should you brag over a woman who puts in a lot in order to achieve what she deserves.at your level though young and in mature should be encouraged and see what success can do when you work extra hard in life,be inspired.
Choncho is a twat
Where are the photos?
Cathy Phiri will be my second wife very soon. Nkakopa akana.
The gal has a smoking body!
this catherine phiri. Ni mufana wa Ester? Bushe mwaiche wa kwa Ester Phiri?
I started my BA at 28yrs and was the oldest in class. Finished my MA at 35. I have a very good career not withstanding my late entry into the higher education system.
heheheh.
Let her achieve her ambition but must continue training to keep fit.. I become deaf in 1978 at the age of 14 after suffering from menengitis. For for 5yrs I was hanging between life and death puting school on hold .. restarted G7 in 1982 and completed my G12 at Munali Sec sch at the age of 24.. Moved to greener pasture aged 26
Beaten into retirement, that’s a classic but hope she does get enticed into marriage by one of those thick necked government officials as a blogger as written above lol!
Peter you are right, choncho is the most dull in this era.choncho your degree will make you vulnerable with that kind of thinking.you are the most stupid person among all the *****s in central and southern africa.
Thanks for your comments guys they make us work extra hard
