Soccer Fans have expressed disappointment with the draw result Zambia got in Lesotho. Renard was particularly blamed for the draw by substituting forward Collins Mbesuma for defensive midfielder William Njovu, a change that allowed Lesotho to drive forward.
Cholwe Mweemba, a Chilenje fan said Mbesuma was the only player who keep Lesotho on their toes and when he was rested, it allowed the Sothos to go foward freely.
“Mbesuma was the best player, he struck the post and Lesotho knew they needed to watch him, now Renard, in his wisdom, thought otherwise. Mbesuma was the best player for Zambia and you substitutte him,” Mweemba said.
Another fan, Jeseph Nguvu said Mbesuma should have been left on the field and further questioned what positives William Njobvu brought to the team.
On goalie Kennedy Mweene’s red card, Nguvu said the Free State Stars goalie had no option and his deliberate foul that led to him been sent off, was a sacrificing for his country.
Chanda Bwanga was subtle in his assessment saying Zambia must just forget about the World Cup and all players as coach Renard were consistently performing below par.
“Look at our big players, Chris Katongo, Stopilla Sunzu, Rainford Kalaba, what did they do. The coach also has loyalty to players who can’t perform. How did Njobvu become so neceessary that you should come in for Mbesuma. If by chance we qualify to the World Cup, we will be an embarrassment,” he said.
In Kitwe, most fans talked to at Arthur Davies Stadium where Power Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors kick off at the same time as the Zambia match expressed disappointment over Chipolopolo’s performance.
A visibly disappointed Robert Banda, who was one of the many fans who abandoned the Power-Warriors match to watch the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter from a pub under the grand stand, said Chipolopolo needed an outright victory yesterday.
Banda said a win was important to Zambia’s quest for maiden World Cup appearance saying it victory could have eased pressure off Chipolopolo owing to the next two matches at home in June against Lesotho and Sudan.
“We can’t go anywhere with that bad performance – we should forget just about qualifying for the World Cup. The team is not inspiring, it is a shadow of the 2012 Africa Cup winning squad,” Banda said.
Evans Mwamba echoed Banda’s sentiments saying there was need for the Herve Renard-headed coaching staff to make an overhaul of the team by phasing out senior players whom he described as having outlived their usefulness.
Mwamba said there was urgent need to beef up the team with ambitious young talent that is able to cope with the demands of the fast paced modern game.
“But unfortunately, it is like we are content with the same old players who have clearly demonstrated that they have nothing more to offer. The same senior players who contributed to our early elimination from the Africa Cup were continued from where they left,” Mwamba said
Herve Renard should just resign on his own coz we’ll still fire him to pave way for players like Clifford Mulenga, Given Singuluma and roger Kola whom he has sidelined for personal reasons and kalu should step down he influenced super sport to suspend a prophet Mamadou who was saying the truth
A coach is only as good as his CURRENT results; history counts for ZERO. FAZ fire Renard immediately or else Kalusha Bwalya you will be fired. Just wait and see if am lying.
why didnt he play chisamba lungu and mukuka mulenga.William njolvu is useless even if he came back to the zambian league he wouldnt make any impact. players are hiding abroad because they are afraid to be assesed when they play locally. No wonder players like joseph sitali are even going to play in division one in congo to stand a better chance of being called because of the playing abroad tag.
Dario Bonneti is the one that made the team, this guy Herve Renard just enjoyed Dario’s sweat.
Chishimba Kambwili said PF will NOT accept anything apart from an outright win. We awaiut PF empty threats to manifest. They claimed it is PF that made zambia win AFCON 2012. In the same vain let them admit it is PF that has cause this draw.
Today I can support you, I hope you are calling on PF to fire Renard. Who cares of FIFA suspends Zambia on government interference issues.
thats just what renard wants.
if he is fired, he will rush to fifa and cry foul so that the govt. end up compesating him the angola way.
i have said it before, this coach is devout of tactics and wont take us anywhere.
I LIKE THIS,THE HARDER THE BATTLE THE SWEETER WILL BE THE VICTORY
What has Renard see in Chris Katongo? The guy is finished and selfish always trying to score even when he has better options. How could he substitute Mbesuma surely? He should have substituted his tired captain.Anyway just as well what can we achieve at the world cup other than setting a record for the worst ever result. Can you imgine these fools playing Spain,Frnce Germany Argentina or some such other world class.
Fire the cocroch or is it coach i dont know which one of the two
I have never been critical about Renard, but this time around i guess i have to,the man has no tactical approach to the game,he can’t read the game, neither can he see what’s happening,we all know he won the cup for us but he needs to know what his doing, those changes he made yesterday costed us the game, the players looked tired,we need new blood,we don’t even have a creative midfielder.
He did not win AFCON for us, he simply floated on Bonneti’s hard work!
the last time i said that, after the ethiopia game in sa, i was called all sorts of names by the so called soccer experts on this blog.
now what say you?
So which players can we bring in , our players are not consistant , not even the collins mbesuma who is a darling today, No wonder Mayuka is not even on the bench at his club, What did fwayo tembo bring to the team? nothing its the same with all these other players people are calling for, changing the whole team now is the waste mistake, lets just keep our fingrs crossed that maybe these guys will pick up form somehow, the only consistant player is Kenndy Mweene
Ba rodrick which victory i said it if that ka team can’t score in training or busy drawing it will be a repeat of Africa cup performance and that’s what has started happening watch the SPACE for the waste and painful performance from these chaps ACTION NOW OR WE ARE OUT
I agree ! We have to ACT NOW ! Stop the rot before June ! That was a pathetic performance ! We should actually be thankful for a point from that performance ! Let Renard go ! Let’s use Patrick Phiri for the remaining three games ! ACTION NOW !
Forget abt world cup coz we cant beat Ghana in their country.FORGET!!!
We are just ru bbish
The coach was 100% right to substitute mbesuma to save him for a return game in lusaka, in two months time, but the player he put in ROGER KOLA was just a passenger, thus why even renard gives chance to these players that fanz are calling for they are useless.
what game were you watching?
….RODGER KOLA?
That was not Roger Kola . It was William Njovu
U are the only fool who couldnt even know the players called for duty. Kola?? SOLUTION….. lets get rid of Herve Renard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saving a player for a game in two months time? Sininamvelepo!
What an embarrassment! The boys couldn’t even beat Lesotho ranked No. 166 by FIFA. If FAZ can’t act quickly then Zamian soccer will suffer. Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and getting the same results. Right now we are in the stupid phase which demands change. FAZ open your eyes please.
if they have them.. that is.
You have too much blind faith in that incompetent entity called FAZ!!
I do not know why we hang on to a coach that once abandoned the national team for more money in Angola. If you look at AFCON 2013, he kept making dubious decisions. Yesterday’s f@ck up comes in a series of many others. If you ask me, I would say this man is selling our games! How does ones substitute a palyer that is performing and giving defenders a tough time for someone else without impact. You do not even need to be a soccer player to know that!
We had a good chance of going to the world cup and that chance is gone now. Ghana is going, unless we can find a good coach is salvage the damage that has been done.
I very disappointed with the Teams result, one thing for-sure Zambians Like to hurt themselves even more when they down. Firing Renard at this time will not help anyone and will cause instability. If he fails to qualify us for Brazil 2014 then , He is gone Simple.I know one thing why Chris Katongo is still with the team, he brings discipline but must also start coming to the Party.
I agree firing the coach will not do any thing not even changing the entire team, the players just have to up thier game, they have lost form, Kalaba is a shadow of himself,
UKUTASHA TULATASHA?? But Herve Renard:: it’s time YOU moved on, The team lacks tactics, They play as individuals. Goodness we can do better. Imagine Ghana beat Lesotho 7- 0 why can’t we?? We have no hunger for goals or to win. It seems the AFCON win has made us so complacent. This is world Cup Gents, No Child’s play. We need the whole Chipolopolo Overhaul. Let’s be strategic, Kick the COACH OUT, LOOK for other YOUNGER Players. START NOW FAZ.
we should start by kicking faz itself.
its a let down.
clifford mulenga is having thelast laugh now.
What hs gone wrong 2 our National team? sinc 2012 AFCON we ve n’t won any gem be it Intrnation friendly match.
people of beautiful country zambia. All the comments u ave said is true rennard will never be a good coach it has now become a custom 2 him 2 ave every reason 2 find a faulty every the team doesn’t perform well in de past during his first tenure before the 2010 afcon he blamed de pitches and players been unfit.2 When he was dumped zambia & went 2 Angola thinking he is de mourinho of africa whenever he goes winning trophies is what herve rennard is made of,what was the result in angola was kicked out & went 2 start coaching a club in algeria.Kalusha had interest in it he fired de man who won four matches, losing one, drawing 1 meaning zambia had 13 points out of possible 18.Now pipo tell me illustrate de rennard achievements in qualifying. The point is bonneti was better than rennard
OPEN LETTER TO HERVE RENARD :
Dear Mr Renard ,
May I take this opportunity to thank you for all you have done for Zambian football ! It is evident that you have done your best and now are perhaps fatigued ! Zambian football needs to forge ahead ! But , unfortunately Zambian football is going backwards ever since the 2012 AFCON !
It is with this background that I would suggest that now is a good time for you to step aside and allow us to employ a coach who will inspire the players to actually put in their best ! That display in Lesotho clearly showed a bunch of demotivated players just fulfilling a fixture ! There was no ZAMBIA there ! ! NO, NO NO ! ! !
Please take this as friendly advice from a person who wants the best for you as well as the best for the team !
Very well put. Kalu please copy this letter and hand it to Renard. Kambwili actually has a worse letter.
Loosing is a very important aspect of life……makes u come back down to earth. Lesotho will fall at Levy Mwanawasa.
What’s your guarantee that we will win with that rubbish display?? Why put ourselves under pressure, a win was eminent to make us way clear of Ghana. Note that other teams are much stronger than Lesotho. Remember AFCON 2013?? Same happened. THEY JUST HAVE TO BE SERIOUS.
Chipolopolo can only qualify with a renewed team WITHOUT:
1. Chris Katongo
2. Emmanuel Mayuka
3. Himmonde Hichani
4. Nathan Sinkala
5. Rainford Kalaba
6. Felix Katongo
There are so many good players in this country for us rely on those that have outlived their usefulness!
Kalusha and Renard are also bad for our soccer, just fire them!
Six changes! No team has ever dropped six players and gone on to win anything
Embarassing, pathetic result. Ba Kalusha baleko ukubomba, what excuse can he make now? Disband the team please. Former champions drawing na Lesotho, feel ashamed ba Zed.
Let the best team qualify for World Cup.Zambia is not ready to qualify going by the standard of play.Ghana can represent us better than Zambia. It is not just a matter of qualifying but team spirit and hardworking. We will embarass African football if we are to qualify. The game is bellow the required standard.
Even when Ghana wins the group it doesnt mean they will have qualified. They will have one more team to conquer so be careful with your proclamations
Yes he must be fired! We cant go anywhere with him.He has failed us dismally.I wonder who was playing and coaching in Gabon?Goodbye Renard.A lot of good Zambian and foreign coaches are hanging out there.Kalu himself can coach.Bye bye Renard.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.
WRONG Tactics….You are using a 4-4-2 formation and suddenly you a man down, what do you do? a right thinking coach would maintain the shape of the team by sacrificing a second striker to finnish with a 4-4-1 formation. My chi ma name sake should have sacrificed the captain who was playing as a second striker and leave Mbesuma upfront alone which is his specialty.By the way we do have a creative midfielder in Chisamba lungu only God knows why he was left out. Imaging the combination of Fwayo Tembo, C.Lungu and King David. we can qualify to the W/cup with the right coach, time to act is now.
The headline should read: “Docile soccer fans suddenly waking up after Zambia’s draw result with Lesotho ranked 150+”.
The fans are not docile. They are just committed loyal patriotic fans that are not searchers for faults in their team
Ndaaba imwe ba J jay muganiza niimwe mweka Ocenjela mu Zambia yonse. You clearly have a bone to pick with FAZ and want us all to join you. That’s unrealistic and senseless. We all saw what FAZ did in 2012 so we can’t call them useless Any team of people have their highs and lows.. You can never advise an enemy cos he won’t take your advice so we won’t join u in making FAZ our enemy
Renard is NOT a serious man. His substutes cost us the game. The Road to Brazil is no longer in our hands unless another board room decision is done in our favour. Ghana has scored 11 goals so far, we have 2 goals forget the 3 fake goals awarded to us by CAF.
Now our distination is in the hands of Ghana and Sudan. We can only qualify to the knock out stage if we can win the remaining 3 matches including beating Ghana in Kumatsi on the final day of qualification. FIRE the Fox and stop playing names.
The game was not lost in Lesotho, but FAZ boardroom whether it is in Lusaka or J/Burg when decision was made to camp the team continuously in RSA. Which foolish player or coach can bother to win when he has already made enough backs from camping allowances. Now we hear that players book their South African girlfriends in Sandton hotels, without knowing that it is spiritual husbands of those girls which destroy their careers and lose form. FAZ and Kambwili are not serious about employment creation in Zambia. Why create jobs for onother country instead of creating jobs for Zambians. Please, fire the coach, demote Kalusha to coaching and bring back Chitembeya for FAZ. FAZ only knows to change jerseys every 6 months so that they get kick backs. ZRA tax their heavy shopping except for Mweene.
Surely you fail to beat Lesotho and you want to go and play Spain, Germany, England …….Anyway, maybe CAF will award us another three points in the boardroom, because under the current coach its becoming impossible to collect such points.
The coach and some players like Katongo are being blamed unfairly, the blame lies squarely on the FAZ for being detached from the squad.
In 1993 govt could not pay Danish Coach Raold Poulsen so FAZ parted with him. Govt then gave Chipolopolo Ian Porterfield. Zambia was leading their World Cup qualifying group and were favourites for a slot. Their next game was against Senegal then a pushover (like Lesotho). Zambia needed to beat Senegal twice to put Morocco out of the reckoning. In a game that they could have won by a cricket scoreline Zambia drew with Senegal in Dakar. Senegal lost the return 4-0 in Lusaka. Zambia, needing just a draw, then had a crucial last game against Morocco in Rabat. They lost that game 1-0 to Morocco and Diramba. Substitute Senegal for Lesotho and Ghana for Morocco in the above narration for a taste of things to come
I think you should re-post it under other stories. It is a bit creepy.
Fyalula! I can see Tanzania qualifying for the World Cup finals. Even Malawi might just make it while Chipolopolo books grandstand seats for the Malawi Argentina game in Maracana.
Our coach does not know how to read the game. He most of the times make wrong substitutions.
Why not just employ a local coach or someone from South Africa.
really rubbish game put up by they guys in the language of Kambwili.
Sad moment for Zambia.
Zambian people people should have learn how to appreciate, the reason is that zambians are talkative you dont appreciate.
My brother we appreciate. Just go back to February 2012 and you will see how much praise was heaped on Chipolopolo, Renard, Kalusha. Even when we limped out of AFCON 2013 the criticism wasnt harsh. Now we are sensing disaster so we are justifiably alarmed
If they was a game to win this was the one but just like we did in the Afcon failing to BEAT Ethopia it cost us,this leaves us with less hope as our perfomance leaves much to be desired.
fellow zambians all is not lost-we certainly messed up in maseru with a hopeless ‘foreign coach’ who is better off coaching a div 4 team in his native french country but we have about 60 days to go before our next 2 games- ZAMBIA v Lesotho ZAMBIA v Sudan- I belive that GOD has not abandoned us WE WILL QUALIFY TOP THE GROUP-Ghana will be in for the shock of their lives because WE WILL beat them WE WILL NOT LOSE IN KUMASI- however my fellow zambians LET US HAVE FAITH & BELIVE that THIS IS OUR APPOINTED TIME to go to our first ever World Cup Appearance Brazil 2014. Let us belive that with GOD ALL-THINGS-ARE-POSSIBLE! GODs CHANGE certainly coming in ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL!- In FAZ,Coaching Staff, National Team Players!!
