Share

Cosafa’s technical team is in the country to look into Zambia’s bid to host the 2013 Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup in July.

The team led by Cosafa chief operating officer Sue Destombes met with FAZ officials on Wednesday.

FAZ communications officer Erick Mwanza said the Cosafa team later inspected proposed match and training venues in Lusaka.

Nkoloma Stadium is one of the proposed venues together with Godfrey ‘Ucar” Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe, Arthur Davies in Kitwe and Levy Mwanawasa in Ndola.

Woodlands and Sunset stadiums are the proposed training grounds including the sports complexes adjacent to the latter stadium.

The proposed dates for the revived Cosafa Cup that was last played in 2009 are this July 6-21.

  1. Please reserve the name Godfrey CHITALU Stadium for the new stadium currently under construction in Lusaka. It would be a good way of celebrating Ucar’s life and his unsurpassed 107 goal record per season!

  2. Wanungwee naku sapota. I hate this naming of sports stadia after politicians. Even the Ndola stadium should be Moses Kabaila or Henry Kalimukwa not Mwanawasa. Its not like politics provides all our heroes.

  3. Thre you go on politics again, leave soccer out of politics. Hoping we have all the facilities to host cosafa senior challenge this year and if it will be a succes we go for the big on in africa AFCON 2017 or 2019.

  4. I hope the KALUSHA BWALYA stadium under construction near independence would be ready by july although MBESUMA tadium in LUANSHYA would also be an alternative since the Chris KATONGO memorial stadium in western province is at ground clearing stage while the SUNZU stadium near DRC possess a security threat from M23 rebels we can still look for Kennedy Mweene STADIUM in Choma because its a new provincial capital all these ideas can be discussed at the HERVE RENARD 2012 Building formely known as FAZ house.

  5. @Cheetah Pan Kwah, without Mwanawasa, the Ndola Stadium would not be standing where it is. Besides, the man was only as great as they come and deserves the honour. If you want to name a stadium after Moses Kabaila or Henry Kalimukwa better you build it.
