Zambia’s international image remains intact – Effron Lungu

Dr Effron Chakupa Lungu

Foreign Affairs Minister Effron Lungu says Zambia’s international image remains intact.

Mr. Lungu says there is therefore no need for the Patriotic Front (PF) government to come up with an image building policy to repair the country’s image.

Dr. Lungu says the fact that Presidents from other neighboring countries have not visited Zambia from the time President Michael Sata became head of State does not mean that Zambia’s image to the international community is dented.

Speaking in an interview with Qfm, Dr. Lungu observes that Zambia’s co-hosting of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) general assembly with Zimbabwe is an indication of how positive Zambia is being viewed by the international community.

Dr. Lungu has also cited President Michael Sata’s international official visits abroad as a further indication that Zambia still maintains a good image to the international community under the PF government.

  1. Foreign heads of state do not want to risk their respect by visiting Zambia when their intelligence are aware of lunacy presidency in the nation. PF govt may pride itself that Sata has visited foreign countries including UK (where he met protests against his visit) and other countries as a patient.
What a dismal legacy to be ashamed of!

    • You just learn that word “denial”, you are using it everyday, just like a 3 year old who just realized that ka thing he uses kusundila has a name called “denial”.

  2. a lungu, ngati lyonse iwe ndiwe utandalila anzako koma anzako sabwelako kwako ninshi anzako awo anakusula. Hosting of the UNWTO bid was started kale muntawi ya MMD and they won the bid. so its not because of pf doing. Foreign policy mdala mutayeko nzelu.

  3. It is very much dented, don’t cheat your selves, previously were i am local news papers used to carry favorable and positive stories on Zambia. Nowadays things have gone quiet, you can never read anything from Zed, even on news bulletins on radio.
One case in point is were J Kikwete, president of Tanzania invited RB, but the later was denied a pass to leave Zed. The meaning here is, the Zambian government literally snubbed the Tanzanian government because being close neighbors TZ is aware of all what is going on inside Zed they had known that RB was free to travel outside Zed otherwise they would not have invited him.

Secondly, in previous parliamentary budget presentations TAZAMA and TAZARA used to prominently feature in debate, this year nothing was mentioned.

  4. He has a nice set of hair. However I don’t like his face. It is sweaty and he is most likely a drunkard.

  5. Atase, at international image affected, i wouldnt give a rats A*******, if Obama ignores me and that same moment that penniless father wins a lottery to feed his malnurished family, i would be on cloud 9 if Sata greets me than Tony blair, for all i know, Sata would invite me for lunch on impulse Tony blair wouldnt! read between the lines those that can, AFRICANS FIOEW!

    • Dear Cindy, emotions aside, please google ‘Eurobond’ and understand the basics and then re-read your comment and see how much you contradict yourself.

  6. What image is tarnished? Zambians you are full inferior complex. What has Obama got to offer Zambia will change to be USA? Obama will never put the food on your tablet otherwise, will send CIA to spy on your thick brain of being bush products.
Zambians need to be proud of what they have achieved.
Why south African is standing on their own? They feel its their time to show the world they are the people and not colonies of the west.
If the Tanzanian president invite Mr Banda through dobious means, the govt of Zambia will act accordingly and there is no way Mr Banda will use foreign soils to start smare media campaign.

    • Your political blindness speak volume: “the Tanzanian president invite Mr Banda through dobious means”. Wow, carry on living in a denial. “Dubious means”!!! To call you s.t.u.p.i.d. will be insult to the i.d.i.o.t.s.
