Media Network for Child Rights has condemned the action by law enforcement officers that raided former Evelyn Hone head of Journalism section Clayson Hamasaka house leaving his children traumatized.
Last week Clayson Hamasaka said that his young children are traumatized after a group of police officers raided his Woodlands Chalala home in a gangster movie like scene in the wee hours of last Tuesday.
‘It has not been the same especially for our young children who were traumatized with the experience after being held hostage in their own home at such an awkward hour,’ Hamasaka stated.
Media Network for Child Rights Executive Director Henry Kabwe said it is unfortunate that people still do not want to respect children’s rights.
Mr. Kabwe said that the move by the law enforcement officers to raid Mr. Hamasaka’s house in the manner they did when children were also in the house is unacceptable.
He said that there is need for law enforcement officers to ensure that they do not traumatize children in the line of their duties especially when their investigations involve adults.
Mr. Kabwe said law enforcement officers to should have at heart the rights of every child regardless of the course of investigation they are pursuing.
A child may exhibit any or all of these behaviors after a traumatic event:
- Change from being quiet, obedient and caring to loud, noisy and aggressive or may change from being outgoing to shy and afraid;
- Develop nighttime fears. They may be afraid to sleep alone at night, with the light off, to sleep in their own room, or have nightmares, night terrors or bad dreams;
- Be afraid the event will reoccur;
- Lose trust in adults. After all, their adults were not able to control the disaster, so they reason “who can?” and decide that nobody can;
- Not want parents out of their sight and refuse to go to school or childcare;
- Feel guilty or ashamed that they caused the disaster because of something they had said or done;
- Feel alienated from other children;
- Become afraid of wind, rain or sudden loud noises;
- Worry about where they and their family will live or survive;
- The child may talk about or exhibit signs of interest in suicide;
- Be upset over the loss of a favorite toy, blanket, teddy bear or other times that adults might consider insignificant, but which are important to the child;
do the children from kwakanyama undergo the said traumatic event???
Iwe wouldnt you be traumatised seeing your dad being wisked away by heavy geared armed millitary men in the wee hours or what ever time? when i was young i was even afraid just seeing a police man, what more something described here? Be considerate.
Do the children of the “suspects” killed in cold blood by cops have any such considerations as childrens rights? What of the mailoni bro’s kids??
YES they DO.

What I can’t understand is NGOs failure to be impartial ZWD since its inception the news is about Sata. He is sick, dictator. has resigned and so forth. The hate, speculation, exaggerated and printed is left to be desired. No media organisation has ever condemned or advised to report impartially as reporters and media houses have an important role to play in informing citizens and the world at large. On the other hand they are very capable of causing troubles that they not have skills to stop. Freedom of expression does not mean those with no means to defend themselves have no freedom to find ways of bring those carrying character assassination by Hiding behind freedom of expression through online publication. They have the right to sue but when the owner is unknown this is the result
Just the same as the president have the right to sue but cnnot be sued. Do you supprt the manner in whitch he answered HH? How he goes about with showing HH’s bank statements to whoever? What did Jesus mean by ” let he withut sin sin throw the first stone?” Let government be sober when dealing with citizens and then expect citizens to be sober as well. Otherwise this is just dictatorship and sad to note that we don’t see anything wrong.

Go to The post aechives and read the post news papers and see if there was any edition of Mmembe’s post news paper that did not talk negatively about only RB. For three years that RB was in power Mmembe ran hate campaign through and through. All of a sadden Mmembe has “saints” in Govt and he is extremely quiet. There has been gross human abuse in Zambia that we have not witnessed since 1964. People arrested left and right for flimsy reasons, people are beaten and killed by politically sponsored thugs. People are beated even in churches. Opposition political leaders can not critisize any thing they see wrong they will go to cells for humiliation. The watchdog may be blocked today but the Satanists will not block the people’s souls. And that is what Kaunda’s machinery could not stop.
But I access ZWD without a hitch. Maybe I ve magic fingers?
it’s laughable for the government trying to block ZWD, in this modern times
it’s very easy to transmit data. Nubian Princess will love it when our country
becomes like Zimbabwe that’s where her hero adopted PF from like Zanu PF
They manage blocking TAMBA IMBWA but failin to sort out M’membe’s post
Fred Mmembe is behind these arrests because people who read ZWD DONT read the post
