PATRIOTIC Front (PF) and MMD cadres yesterday clashed at Chipata Central Police Station leaving four people injured.
The incident happened following the alleged disruption of MMD campaign meeting which was suppose to be held in Magazine Township by the former ruling party officials ahead of the Chipata Central parliamentary by-election.
The two rivals met at one place and started exchanging heavy punches and weak soldiers run away for their safety.
It was at this time that Judge Ngoma’s window screen of the vehicle shattered by the unruly MMD members.
Both Mr Ngoma and MMD leader Nevers Mumba went to report the incident to police where, the two camps met again and clashed in full view of the riot police officers. Some police officers were allegedly beaten by the PF cadres.

Temporally, Mr Ngoma and Dr Mumba were briefly held by the police.
Upon hearing that Mr Ngoma was at the police, the PF cadres demanded for his release from the police.
It had to take the full force of the police to separate the two camps who were some beaten in the process.
Chipangali Member of Parliament (MP) Vincent Mwale who was accompanied Sinda MP Levy Ngoma was slapped by a named PF cadre.
Upon the disappearance of PF cadres at the police a group of MMD cadres brandishing Pangas and Knobkerrie demanded the release of Dr Mumba.
The Sinda Parliamentarian had to calm the MMD cadres who were ready for everything.
“Cool our President is in the safe hands,”he said.
The Umodzi Highway was temporally closed.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Grace Chipalila confirmed the development and said the incident happened when the two camps wanted to conduct a meeting at the same place.
Ms Chipalila said a gun was allegedly discharged which sparked the situation.
“It is allegedly that the gun was discharged and as police we are investigating the matter,” she said.
This country is headed for war unless the President acts to stop the violence
Is this really happening in Zambia?? Unbelievable………………
In the end Sata will pay a heavy price for all this mess!!!!
I think Sata is not sleeping in his regular bedroom, he might be using tunnels left by KK. Unless he can judges that Zambia is experiencing a safe atmosphere.
President Sata risk being held accountable for failing our country. There is a clear and present danger of a nation rapidly degenerating into a full blown acrimony. His obsession to rule by instilling fear, violence, abuse, corruption and sangoma spirits of death is just building a dangerous case for a national wide implosion he may not manage to contain. Blandishing of Guns has suddenly a PF trademark in the era of PF thuggery. The region is littered with guns from the liberation era which might just leave Sata haunt.
Be careful of what you ask for.
Careful what you wish for…there can never be war in Zambia
Mike, true, Concalves, Rio, Distant drums, The engineer, Namona and Senior citizen, you are one and the same. Just waiting to get my hand cuffs on you.
reading lusaka times, you may think Somali is safer than zambia
Selective application of the law, each group wil start to defend its self because the police have become a wing of pF.
Very true. People now feel they are not protected by the police and their complaints are not acted upon by relevant authorities, hence taking the law into their hands.
Why on Earth, for Heavens sake, should a ruling party resort to and condone violence on the defenceless people? The Chipata voters, especially taxi drivers, travellers, farmers, teachers civil servants, who have been negatively affected by removal of subsidies on fuel etc, must use their vote power to stop official barbarism in this country.
Since independence Zambians have never known to blandish guns on each other except when confronted by armed robberies and bakabokes who rampantly were coming to hijack us of our cars through Mokambo.
Sadly today under President Sata, blandishing of Guns by his foot soldiers on defenseless citizens has become a Sata Presidential”error” trademark.
When Mushala and his brother Simbwende started blandishing guns on Zambians, we killed executed them. If we learn from history, this predator called Judge Ngoma blandishing guns with impunity on Zambians risk eating his own gun soon.
senior citizen, which Zambia are you from? mmd is just reaping what they ve been sowing all the time they ve been in power. so you ve never heard of a man called William Banda? you mean you never heard about the killings in Mongu? any way…………………
Atleast UPND was not there, manje bazanamizila bandani?
Where are you leading us to. WAR??? or peace. Please STOP these meaningless by-elections.
These things are not new. They were more rife during the tenure of William Banda and RB, so nothing is new.
Ifi tut ifi filekeni filelwa kwati bakafilishamo kanshi nga baba votele ninshi bapwamo nukupwamo ku Lusaka until the next elections. Dull chaps fighting each other for nothing!
PF and MMD are tasting their own medicine.
The Police have set a precedent for lawlessness.
Oh!! were there any family members of the politicians directly involved this acrimonious power struggle? It was mostly paid cadres, unemployed youths and some “rough’ women. None of the children and wives of politicians and successful business people.
The president who does not condemn violence is a violent one. PF are behaving as if they are still in opposition, it is not right for the ruling party to behave the way they are behaving and if the opposition decide to defend themselves civil unrest will ensue and who will suffer, the ordinary zambian.
Mr. sata has never on one day come out in the open to condemn this violence so it means eubatuma. Carrying guns to campaigns????????
How can they beat even boma (ZP) who are to protect them, cage those kolokobwas please.
It seems simple matter at the moment and this is the right time to do something at about it. Police needs to become firm if the situation is to get any better. Otherwise as it is now trouble is just but at the corner.
A country gone to the DOGS thank GOd i left and do not have to subject my kids to the stone age
the engineer…….just enjoy your kangaroos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you failed to make it in Zambia thats why you left. under hash conditions we re making it. You are boasting about other people ‘s success. you never played any role towards the success of that country. You re just a political refugee.
I think time has come for the President to come out and condemn this violence. Let him be man enough, no press statements thru George Chellah! The president should not just condemn violence as a by-the-way during swearing in ceremony or meeting chiefs at statehouse! Let him address nation and answer people’s questions and concerns through a press conference!
LT that is not my Flag pliz
who is who between you two?? same person or two different persons
@ndobo, same person Namona, but the system keeps changing the flags. Am not in the US
I think sata`s chinese team is trying to block you,, thats why they are playing tricks in your eyes with your flag..kekekekekekekekek
anyway good lucky with your flag
One would expect to see such scenes only at election time when people become obsessive party worshipers. Is this is only happening in rural areas, or is it the same situation in Lusaka?
Imagine the police and soldiers running away for safety when lawlessness breaks out. What has become of the paramilitaries that once existed in the KK era?
In those days, if there was mayhem anywhere and police or soldiers had failed to restore order, the paramilitary would step in quickly, draw & quarter the culprits at once and have their heads handed over to them.
Zambia is a failed state under UKWA… surely did a country expect to be lead by a grade 7 and succeed?
Paramilitary is not the solution to these problems perpetrated by PF thugs under the leadership of Mr Sata. Have you ever heard Mr Sata condemning Judge Ngoma and why is it that whenever there is PF led violence the reports always say ‘In full view of the police’ who for reasons we all know have been turned into PF cadres.
Lies, Soldiers failing??? when did sodiers ever fail to deal with civilians?
How can the president stop the violence when he himself is a violent man?
7 guns one cresseda
Discharging a fire arm at a civilian gathering? Even soldiers have rules of engagement, so what happens next? Who was Judge Ngoma engaging? And for what purpose?
As things are right now the only option left is for the opposition to protect themselves by any means, the police are PF cadres in uniforms.
Mr Sata appointed women to head all provincial police headquarters including of course the inspector general and no one should expect them to be professional, they serve the interests of their master. At this rate the country is headed for anarchy and bloodshed and in practical terms Zambia is already a one party dictatorship. And you exclaim, Zambia is a peaceful country, really? May be it was but certainly not anymore.
very poor governance this is the price you pay for vote a grade one ugly dull “kabwalala” bembasian…
MMD legacy was that of unbridled corruption. PF legacy is that of unbridled lawlessness.
PF is tribal, violent, corrupt and incompetent.
PF is not tribal, nonviolent, corrupt free and competent iweee Goncalves
LT. can u kindly stop misleading the nation. can u report what really happened. thats why our poorly trained media personel ar appearing in court.
another dull PF cadre-can’t you see the video for yourself? You think it was manufactured?
UTTER NONSENSE. WHERE HAS THIS CULTURE COME FROM? POLITICAL PARTY LEADERS YOU HAVE A MAMMOTH TUSK TO TAME YOUR FOLLOWERS NOT TO ENGAGE IN VIOLENT ACTS. WHAT DO YOU ACHIEVE? TO ME THIS WHOLE SCENARIO SHOWS HOW BACKWARDS WE ARE IN TERMS OF CHAMPIONING OUR DEMOCRACY WHICH STANDS FOR TOLERANCE. PLEASE, POLITICIANS WHETHER FROM THE RULING PARTY OR OPPOSITION, STOP THE STUPIDITY!!
What was Judge Ngoma and his PF colleagues doing at an MMD rally in the first instance?
Regardless of which political party one belongs to lets all have some respect and love for one another. Why fight?i would strongly urge the police force to arrest and charge all the culprits found wanting so it sets an example to others in future Bye Elections which seem to be ongoing.
CONFIRMED AFTER BEING RECONFIRMED: Politics is for thugs
victimization, fear and uncertain to individual always course up rise. I don’t think there will be generally elections in 2016. Either they will be held to 2018 or the govt in 2014.
Like this at the police. All no. very sad.
There is one man in Zambia whose facial expressions and utterances tell what he truly is, violence, threats and bullying are written all over his face and his followers are emulating him to the letter.
Just shut up you ba.st.ar.d born out of fornication at a bar.
‘Cause so much political havoc that you are forced to declare a State of emergency and subsequently a One-party state.’
page XXXXVVL in ‘A letter to My Stpd Idts’ by Kenneth B Kayunda.
I usually wonder wat kind of police men en women we have in zambia, how do people fight rite at the police station? Evelyn Hone students broke buses at the central police, now our service men en women shud be serious
‘ MMD cadres brandishing Pangas…..? ‘ I wonder how the PF defended themselves from machetes! Zambian journalism is at it ‘s lowest, the so called journalists are passing on hearsay as facts.
This is SATA’s authorship. He should be taken to the Hague before he destroys our hard earned freedoms and peace.
PF HAVE NO DIRECTION SO THEY NEED TO BE SERIOUS
