Mighty blame poor form on money

Share

Mighty Mufulira Wanderers secretary Fernando Bwalya has attributed his team’s poor showing in the 2013 FAZ Division One North campaign to financial challenges.

Wanderers lie sixteenth on the 18-team Division One North table with 14 points in 16 matches.

Bwalya said Wanderers can longer attract quality players and coaches because of being broke.

“The current resource level at the club is not sufficient enough to enable the club attract good players and technical bench,” he said.

Wanderers are in danger of being relegated to Division Two.

Bwalya added: “The club is appealing to all peace loving Mufulira Wanderers FC die hard supporters to come forward and support the team both morally and financially.”

He also revealed that his executive has started membership recruitment.

“Wanderers wishes to invite the general public to join the club as paid up members in order to boost the players’ welfare,” Bwalya said.

  1. We luv our team but ur executive has failed us. Better still we re coming over the weekend. Mightyyyyyyyyyyy.

  2. Excuses, excuses.Blame your woes on lack of focus, lack of discipline and lacking in diligence. You don’t see that the same set of principles needed for financial success are the same set of rules needed for on field success.

  3. FAZ President..where are you? I thought the prospects at Mighty would be a lot better with Kalu at FAZ but his obviously not bothered with his roots. I wonder if he will remember Zambia once he earns himself a seat with FIFA elite members. Shame on you Kalu and your mate Charles Musonda.

  4. It is so sad that that such great club with a rich history is struggling when the sister club Nkana FC is fully sponsored. This is my childhood club and I have witnessed great times. My appeal is to all loyal supporters to come up with ways of helping the club. You can see that Mopani is only interested in Nkana and not the club with the highest number of cup wins and second to Nkana in terms of League titles. I also appeal to former players abroad to give a helping hand to our great club. It breaks my heart whenever I pass through Shinde and see the sorry sight of our once invincible stadium.

  5. Does everything have to sound political?! “The club is appealing to all peace loving Mufulira Wanderers FC die hard supporters to come forward and support the team both morally and financially.”

    Peace loving? Awe!

  6. Mighty fans are great in numbers but the question lies on the executive. I don’t think the executive members have the heart for the club and I am sure self interest comes first.
    1. Think of a business plans in the first place to table to Mopani?
    2. Membership, be transparent on how to get to executive committee?
    3. The buildings (former ZCCM infrastructures), who are running them? Is it not part of revenue for Mighty in terms of rentals?
    4. Other solution is, if the club cannot manage to pay salaries, the executive can negotiate with Mopani to give players full time jobs and do the trainings only in the afternoon like I used to see in the 1980s. Getting to Div 2 is not pro futbo to have 2 training sessions without results. Attract good players first with full time jobs. GBFC are doin…

    • Wanders executive lack imagination,a few years ago I made the following suggestions:
1)Biggest problem wanders has is player welfare and accomodation
a)Advise given years back was the executive to approach Council for a plot and then then go to the many supporters with a budget and am sure they can build houses and training pitch for the team.
b)They should have lobbied Mopani for some players to be given jobs
Without decent housing and allowances the team will continue going down!
When someone with ideas bring them forward they dont like it!It hurts to see wanderers in this situation
