FORMER Minister in the MMD administration, Newstead Zimba has once again sued his wife Naomi, seeking an interim injunction to restrain her from accessing three bank accounts at Finance bank among other things.

Mr Zimba a former Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, had in July this year sued his wife demanding for almost similar remedies but withdrew the matter for unknown reasons.

Mr Zimba has now accused Naomi of deserting their matrimonial home for five months including her own children.

He wants the Lusaka High Court to order her to account for all the monies she has been controlling in her personal account, company account and dollar account, all held at Finance Bank adding that the monies were realized from a family business known as Zambian Cosmetology Consultancy Limited and their house in Lusaka’s Woodlands Township.

Mr Zimba further wants Naomi to be restrained from controlling or collecting rentals from the property on number 41 Nalikwanda Road, Woodlands as well as not having access to the personal, the company account and the account of proceeds of the family business.

He also wants to the court to issue an order of preservation of motor vehicle, a Nissan registration number ABV 135 and their company property.

He said he got married to Naomi Mbewe under customary law and had lived as husband and wife for 20 years.

He said that in the course of their marriage and for purpose of transparency, he assigned Naomi who was a secretary at Finance Bank to be in charge of the financial and domestic affairs of the family.

“At one point, the plaintiff sold his house in Kitwe in 2006 and the money was deposited in the defendant’s foreign account,” the court documents read in part.

Mr Zimba said that even when he sold another house in Lusaka, the money was deposited into Naomi’s Kwacha account which money was used to purchase their Woodlands house.

He said that Naomi had been refusing him access to the three bank accounts and money realized from the house rentals alleging that every time he asked her about the money, she was hostile to him.

  1. when Newstead and the mmd came in to power in 1991,there most important agenda was to chase there wives and marry girls, now thats the result.U are being punished for that.

    • Please look at the whole issue before you insult somebody. I think regardless of who and how he married her, for him to give her access(sole signatory I guess) to all the three accounts, he trully trasted and loved her now for her to treat him like this…….. This is theft by………………..

  2. This is what you get. You had a lovely wife and Children in Kitwe who you deserted after being appointed Minister by the late Chiluba, went on to marry her own niece who you again deserted, and ended up befriending a secretary at the bank.

The monies she saw coming during that time doesn’t anymore. Malibu ya kuilombela.

    • No!!!! kuli matenda dzino nsiku. besides, bana Kamoza has suffered and recovered and doesnt need Newsted anymore. She has moved on with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

    • @ShiChanda,
I think your question is very important and the answer could be the main cause to their marital problems. Mr Zimba was too trusting by ‘assigning his wife to be in charge of financial affairs’ and she exploited this loophole to the fullest.

  3. Just divorce her legally, share everything including the off shore accounts accordingly, she worked hard aswell for all that money you want to keep to yourself, besides you got the desert all the time and now you want to send her empty handed, no two ways about it Sir…..share accordingly infact she must get a bigger chunk!

    • @Cindy, I share your opinion. It makes sense for them to divorce, share property and go their two separate ways. It appears their differences are irreconcilable. Good luck Mr. Zimba. I thought we have always been told that the Wise people come from the East?

  4. @ 1 General you are right. In fact there was even a clip on TV, this man was fighting with the wife because of a girlfriend he “acquired” after becoming Minister. The Bible mentions divorce as one of the things God hates. Further the Bible declares that ” …you shall you reap what you saw…” GOD BLESS ZAMBIA

  5. Amalume aa Zimba! I dont want to say much because you are an elderly man who should be a Consellor to many of the aspiring HUSBANDS and WIVES if possible, but please sweep your house clean before you start regretting every move you make. Dont sink so low, okay.

  6. Elyo yakosa ba Zimba…. This is really sad. You thought you were safe stashing the loot under her care, now see where that has gotten you!

  7. Just after MMD came into power, this man left his first wife and kids in the ministerial home, moved with this girl into a plush house along Lagos road, Rhodes Park. She in turn invited her brothers to move in, like the once famous Trevor from Ndola who was soon driving a BMW. Frequent guests included famous names like Ibu and Goswami of the 90s..Not to be outdone, his sons also enjoyed from their fathers newly found wealth by living the good life. They drove the latest BMW and Pajero’s given to them by their father as a form of appeasement. Without a father figure, his sons (Musipasi, Suzyo ) went on rampage, contracted aids and died. His ex-wife also died. Trevor and his brother also contracted aids and died. Mr Zimba has made his bed. He must now quietly lie in it without making a…
