Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says it is unthinkable for anyone to say that its leader Hakainde Hichilema did not have an official invitation to visit Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

UPND deputy Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa told Qfm news that it is unfortunate that the aborted visit of Mr Hichilema to Paramount Chief Chitimukulu is being politicized.

Mr. Mweetwa stressed that the UPND president had an official invitation before he traveled to Northern Province last week adding that the right procedure was followed.

He added that the visit of Mr. Hichilema is a normal way of paying courtesy to the traditional leader before doing any business in his chiefdom.

He said it is shocking that the ministry of home affairs responded on behalf of the Bemba speaking people that Mr. Hichilema did not have an official invitation to visit the Bemba Chief.

    • The issue is still here and has come to stay. Why do you want to brush it aside in a rush way. Honestly there is no reason to block opposition leaders from traveling to certain areas in Zambia because if that becomes the order of the day, the ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION moto would become meaningless. The fact is the youths that blocked HH and team in Kasama were or are TRIBALISTS who should be condemned by all. Tribalism is tribalism regardless of where the perpetrator comes in Zambia. Why should it only be called Tribalism if it done by a Southerner and not if the perpetrator is a Northerner. Fellow citizens the reality is TRIBALISM in found everywhere in ZAMBIA. It is easy to dismiss this fact If you have not traveled around Zambia. What do you call the “when they say enisha just shoot…

    • That is very true tribalism by Bembas is not tribalism, it is only tribalism if it is practiced by other tribes because Bembas are not tribalists even if they only vote for members of their own tribe and wont let an opposition leader from another tribe travel freely in the part of the country in which the Bembas are the dominant tribe.

  1. @muyunda ,we have heard that Bemba chiefs said HH didn’t have official invitation unless they lied.miyunda be patriotic, the tribalism part is miplaced,if chipimo was a threat he could equally be blocked not because he comes from which part of Zambia,am not sayg blocking is good but the reason is simply political and not tribal , criticize objectively and see things more clearly.LT show invitation latter or don’t being up this boring outdated story again,we want deveopmental issues not petty stories on unplanned failed visits.

    • That statement did not come from Kasama. It came from a Headman in Mpika. And since when did Mpika headmen start speaking on behalf of Chitimukulu? Headman Washanga is a notorious PF cadre and probably Sata’s relative.

    • What letter? Have you received a letter every time you have been invited by your uncle or your grandfather? Haven’t you been invited by word of mouth before?

    • @adviser be calm and wait for the chiefdom to say what happened then you will have little words.HH had weong , dont play in hot areas ,why didn’t he visit mpezeni instead and chitimukulu later, his plan backfired.its nt tribal you bloggers and uniformed uniform bloggers try the Rwanda episode and you will be met square even before you start the nonsense.

  2. Let the PF cadres continue with their barbaric behaviour but one day and I repeat, one day great surprises will grip Zambians and it will be a turning point in the Zambian history. If Hakainde cannot be allowed to visit Northern Province as a native Zambian, why should Michael Sata visit other provinces because we know he is the one who is behind this unbecoming behaviour in Zambia. Remember what happened in Rwanda in 1994. Sata is not a God and is human like anyone else. We in uniform are just watching but tempers are flaring up because the nonsense which is happening in this country has now asumed very alarming levels. Zambia is not for one person or tribe but for everyone who belong to this soil. Just wait and see, we are coming because this is a no more laughing matter now.

    • This has nothing to do with HE Sata do not be led by the enemy Zambia is covered by the blood of Jesus.HH is a politician he should read the situation he was boasting of intelligence how come he was caught unaware by mere PF local supporters

  3. Ka Mweetwa should produce a letter of invitation from the Chitimukulu to convince us. Otherwise, the former cop and tenant of a servants quarter in Handsworth is merely politicking.

    • @bibi. He may be a former cop and former tenant of a servant’s quarter but where is he now compared to you? Incidentally, what are you? You are advised not despise humble beginnings. Everybody starts from a lower position and works his/her way up.

  4. Now that HH was chased from Bembaland what should happen Bembas in Tongaland? Certainly all well meaning Zambians should have condemned this act because there say what ‘goes round comes round.’ It is so unfortune that the victim is still being insulted. Anyway What is good for the goose mustbbe too good for the gander.

  5. It would help if Mweetwa produced documentary evidence of the invitation to put this argument to bed. As for @ 7.2 Fort Jameson Warrior – Washanga is part of the Shilubemba group that has defied Sata. He is not notorious PF cadre.

  6. I don’t need documentary evidence.

The chiefs invited him but are not subject to explaining themselves to ANYONE. That was their answer.

It’s there in their denial. Like I said before there is “Insoselo” which must be interpreted to get the intended message.

Also, if you didn’t believe me, listen to the Audio recording. Here they are in counsel and so are being literal.

  7. His Excellency SATA when in opposition also banned his PF MPs from cooperating with the then Government of the day MMD and 20 or so MPs were expelled, only served by Court Injunction or Stay of execution granted to them. PF supporters famously referred to them as “REBEL MPs”, and were called traitors for participating in the legally constituted Constitution making process, “The Constituency Assembly”, and like I always say, the majority tribal illiterate village and Town-dwellers venerated that behavior by HE SATA. Madam Faustina Sinyangwe, former MP for Matero and now a staunch MMD Supporter and party official is one of them. What more we have a constitution making process that has no legal backing and the opposition are all participating.Remember this? Gunned down.

  8. “MR MWEETWA SAID THAT THE VISIT OF MR. HICHILEMA IS A NORMAL WAY OF PAYING COURTESY TO THE TRADITIONAL LEADER BEFORE DOING ANY BUSINESS IN HIS CHIEFDOM”

IF IT WAS A NORMAL WAY … SO HOW WAS HE INVITED IF HE SIMPLY DECIDED TO CALL ON THE CHIEF BEFORE THE START OF HIS CAMPAIGN BUSINESS?

  9. Mweetwa PLEASE be specific, Sir.

    Who did you speak to.
Did he answer back OR fix the time?

Without specifics, yours will be considered as gate crushing or Sangwapo pa Lubemba.
