Wynter Kabimba demonstrations spreads to Kitwe

Share

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) cadres have continued to turn on the heat on party Secretary General (SG) Wynter Kabimba to step down with demonstrations against the embattled SG yesterday spreading to Kitwe.

Scores of party cadres who were joined by a number of councillors and other party officials from various constituencies in Kitwe joined in the demonstration.

The party cadres marched from City Square then on to Oxford Road and later Kantanta Street before converging at the party’s district offices along Kantanta Street in Nkana East.

The slogan-chanting cadres who carried with them placards denouncing Mr Kabimba started the demonstration around 10:00 hours.

District party youth vice-chairperson Charles Kabwita who spoke on behalf of others said they had decided to join their colleagues in other parts of the country in calling for the resignation of Mr Kabimba because the SG had continued to show his arrogance.

Mr Kabwita who is also Chimwemwe ward councillor said party members in the district were not happy with Mr Kabimba’s arrogance and as such wanted him out of office immediately.

“If the President still wants him, then let the Head of State keep Mr Kabimba as Justice Minister and not secretary general because it is clear that he has failed in this position.

“We the youths in Kitwe and the entire PF membership in the district don’t want Mr Kabimba because he has only achieved in dividing the party,” Mr Kabwita said.

Kitwe district vice youth secretary Mukuzo Kaboba said the bickering in the party caused by Mr Kabimba was unfortunate and should be quickly addressed.

  1. Why can’t he just appologize for his arrogance and plead for a chance to redeem himself?? His persistant display of pride is going to be his downfall.Let’s all learn something from this gentleman,he’s a great teacher so far..

    • I think he will apologize when the accusations are taken from the streets and taken through the agreed-to disciplinary process, similar to what happened to Lubinda. I don’t think it is so difficult. Mob justice rarely achieves its intent.

    • Ever heard of Robert Gabriel Mugabe, president of Zimbabwe? Some think Mugabe is arrogant. Many of us, however, revere him for his bravery and courage. You have chosen to see Kabimba as arrogant. Many of us however, think that Kabimba’s biggest strength is that he is brave and courageous. Otherwise, let me know why you think he is arrogant? Julius Malema of South Africa is another people presume to be arrogant. On the contrary, Malema is in fact brave and courageous. Try to see the good in others and not necessarily the bad and the negative.

  2. Did they discovered that hes not bemba..? Coz kabimba is real bt ‘coz of bantu botatwe blood which ‘ve been discovered in him by useless bemba monkeys,we lambas have suffered enough frm this same tribe so will try someone who will bring federal gov so as to compete with northerners thanx..

    • Ethnic strife has been triggered by comments such as yours. I hope you will survive the onslaught you are propagating. Good luck!

    • @5 pumulamba man,
who brought levy mwanawasa into power, it was the bemba. Who voted overwhelmingly for mazoka in 2001, it was bembas. Whats this tribal song you tonga moroons are singing about. When u chased saki from taking over upnd, your song was tribalism. Now that upnd is rooted in it, lumpens want to push it on pf

Kabimba is a very feable small petty tribalist that no one shud pay attention to. Mmembe attempts to prop him up wont do.

  3. I don’t like the guy but the reasons being advanced for his resignation are styopet, when did he become arrogant ? The guy has always been arrogant,I tend to believe his arguments about a tribal clique

    • Why hasn’t anybody responded to your very good question? Kabimba is a brave and courageous man. Those are the two major assets on his balance sheet. His political enemies are bent on converting those assets into his liabilities instead, by referring to them as “arrogance”. The fact of the matter is that Kabimba is a man of a diminutive stature upstairs. If he is to make it to the top, it will not be because of his brains, but rather his bravery and courage. Chiluba made it to state house because of his eloquence in speech and Sata because he managed to paint himself as “a man of action,” which unfortunately, has turned out not to be the case. For Kabimba, courage and bravery are his assets. But they are calling them “arrogance” just to destroy him politically.

  4. Just has happened to PF. Let me tell you ba PF. You are exhibiting the most backward behaviour (fo lack of a better word). We voted for you bacause you sowed us that you were mature. Just what has Winter done? I thought he was one of the PF pillars. Now with this kind of monkey behaviour, we are bginning to lose interest in you guys. Watch out for 2016!!

  5. On the face of it, the cadres seem to be wrong. They are not. Kabimba dug his own grave. As the saying goes, “Be good to people on your way up, because you will meet the same people on your way down”. There is no Zambian now ready to receive Kabimba as he plummets downwards.

  6. The only mistake Kabimba has made is to allow himself to be sucked into tribal talk. Otherwise PF will do well to keep him. This whole thing will be a big test in managing conflict or differences by the entire PF leadership. I tend to think no lessons were learnt during the PF/UPND pact. The two parties failed to deal with the mistrust which was being fuelled by their opponents.

    • You seem to think that tribalism in PF will go away simply by not talking about it. A spade must be called a spade. Bemba tribalism is enshrined within PF just as Tonga tribalism is in UPND. Of whatever form, tribalism is unhealthy and must be fought against. When it comes to Tonga tribalism Bembas tend to be the most vocal to speak against it. But when it comes to Bemba tribalism, it’s all harsh, harsh, nobody must say a word against it. It’s is a political taboo to speak against Bemba tribalism. One commits political suicide for raising their voice against it. But why must it be that way?

    • @amukwelyanisa, tribalism by anyone must not be entertained. That is why I used the phrase ‘to be sucked into tribal talk’.

  7. @saulosi & yo group whats wrong with pointing out the facts bane, mukilamba “tulalabila aci sombinga nibo” jst clear yo party’s name its yo SG & veep who said it & u knw it there is no smoke without umulilo, coming to mwanawasa’s adoption it was the mmd which did that fethermo MMD wae formed by non bembas so u shud do yo research starting from unip, finally Mazoka’s failed victory was bcoz of lozi & north west not useless bembas noo!!! So the tribe yag is here to stay with u bembas u remember upnd & u celebrated it tiye nayo baba winter tell us more, wats new mune?

  8. people say pf cabinet is full of bemba speaking people. How many mps does pf ve from southern, western, eastern, north western provinces? All these provinces put together the number is equal to lusaka alone. If not less so what tribalism are you pipo talking about.

  9. The PF/UPND pact was Brocken by mistrust mostly crated by hard core tribalists within the two parties themselves and the political opponents mainly the MMD. I can see this playing out again, only that it is just PF this time.

  10. Now all the ten. Provincial PF structures have resolved that Wynter shoukd leave the Party. The resolution has been handed to Nsanda and another Central Committee member for presentation to the Central Committee. So rather than protest in the streets, these cadres have now used the formal channel. This nowc puts the Central Committee of PF in a tight corner. Will they remove Kabimba from position of SG as demanded by the cadres or not ? That is the big question. Meanwhile Nsanda has referred to Kabimba as a ‘ mosquito’.

  11. Why should people who did not belong to PF or indeed stand on PF tickets be made cabinet ministers? for heavens sake, get a grip on reality! You reap what you sow. So why reap when your provinces voted overwhelmingly against Sata and PF? By the way I had no idea that Munkobwe, Lungu, Simuusa, Masebo and Kabimba are Bemba names!LOL!!!
