Share

The Zambia Police Service and the Road Transport and Safety Agency-RTSA have resolved their alleged stand -off over enforcement of road Traffic Regulations.

After a consultative meeting held on Friday it was agreed that the two institutions have a common mandate to enforce road traffic rules and regulations.

Consequently the two institutions will continue to compliment each other in traffic law enforcement by conducting Joint traffic law enforcements operations at road check-points.

Members of the public have been advised to comply with all lawful directives issued to them by officers either from the Zambia Police Service or the Road Transport and Safety Agency.

This is contained in a joint statement issued to ZNBC News in LUSAKA by the Zambia Police Service and the Road Transport and Safety Agency-RATSA.

The statement has been signed by Acting Police Spokesperson Rea Hamonga and RATSA Acting Senior Public Relations Manager Freddrick Mubanga.

    • @ Checha …Jere has a PHD, he was once sitting on RATSA board so overall he outshines the low educated overzealous Soko…..u cannot compare the two…

    • @ Haleisa Haleisa. Jere has a PhD in Theology. Theology has not a single proven scientific methodology applicable in practical terms. Its a theoretical quest for the weak minded!

    • @Sunsumana…..The same can be said about law. Does that make you a fool? Since when did RATSA started using scientific methodology…..penal code is equal to law, like the bible is equal to Theology, just like your mummy is to breast feed you. Ask the Jesuits faggot.

    • The only problem was Jere’s behavior when his concubine called for SOS. He should not have moved to the scene and then the problem was he started belittling every law enforcement agents as though he was Hitler.

  1. This does not make sense…at “it was agreed that the two institutions”…there was no need to agree anything – it is the Law which precribes the responsibilities for both bodies!
Our Laws are now being compromised for sexual favours to the Deputy IG – what nonsense is this?
This cannot be the end of the matter – but the beginning! Where is TIZ on this? Corruption is not for monetory gain only – this is a case of moral corruption by Jere which must be pursued by the same vigour as the case which Mary Tembo facing!

  2. It shall be RTSA that shall be responsible for Road Traffic management, including fines collection.

RTSA shall open their offices countrywide and where needed delegate to local police but not in any town and city across Zambia.
Police shall have no say in this.

  3. can we decide we liv that task to one entity. abolish rtsa and we remain with our old faithful. police can still do a good job even better than rtsa. just get good equipment for them and pay them well to avoid kucheka pama roadblocks. the stand off was caused by the who gets the cheka? walipila kuli ba police, ba rasa ati wabepafye. dublication of functions.

  4. “Joint Enterprise” to get rich together.
Road Blocks are a money making venture for the police officers in the road traffic section with the full knowledge of the Officer-in-Charge.
