  1. This is really a reflection of the tide of change coming at 200 miles per hour. It is good that UPND is seeing an increase in popularity. This is good political development as it will keep the PF on its toes. I had gotten very worried with the fast demise and decline of the MMD which would have left the PF without any checks or balances. The Zambian people have awoken. You can see from the pictures the hunger for issue based politics. The hunger for substance. For Jobs, food , a high standard of living. You cant fool the youths any more!!! 2016 will be an interesting year!

    • People were ferried from Mazabuka, Choma, Monze, Kalomo, Pemba etc to attend the rally. Just wait for 2016 to swallow another bitter pill of PF victory

    • Action man what has UPND got to gain by ferrying people? So what if they show pictures on Lusaka times with “fake people”? What benefit would it give them when the average Zambian they are trying to attract probably cannot even read or access such forums? You seem to be in denial. At this point we dont know what party will win in 2016 but i like your confidence. As I have said it will be an interesting year. By the way can you please show me proof that they actually ferried people? Are you in Zambia at the moment?

    • Those old enough would remember that Christone Tembo Miyanda had even bigger crowds in 2001 but we all know how it panned out later. Remember that chibuku + donchi kubeba = disappointments.

    • Hungry Lion lurking. That shows a very good platform that people are hungry for issue, developmental but not vulgar or rather tribal based politics. We are tired of calling on top of our voices on rooftops for even a simple press statement from MCS. I foresee a huge storm coming to drown the helpless paddle-less boat.

    • @Tulandeko… why do you find the beautiful show of African hair dirty as you say. Should the good doctor have had a clean shaven face and head like the white man taught us?

    • I don’t support the UPND or the PF, but it doesn’t matter if people were ferried from out of town. The UPND rally was good enough and should serve as a work up call to the sleeping PF with a nondescript and divisive secretary general. After what mwine lubemba said, ba PF you might just be heading for a one term.

    • FANTASTIC photographer… he deserves an award at this year’s Independence Day!!! Look at pic #20, send that as a portrait to Sata to put in his office!!
I wish I new this photographer, I can make hell of money from his pictures..

    • Canisius Banda yashani all those ndevu ? Don`t you know where the barber shop is ? Abaifi kusanga ati namaso tabeya.

  2. By the way a shave and hair cut would do cannisus good. That is not a very presentable look he has. I know we shouldnt judge people by their looks but sadly this is not how the world works. People need to see a trustworthy person and not a crooked looking bushman.!

    • I think it is very ignorant to make such an assumption based on pictures. By the way do you know what the population of mandevu is?

    • I would bet my life you dont even know what was said at this rally. Let us learn to offer constructive criticism.

  3. ITS GOOD THAT HE IS HOLDING RALLIES, BUT THIS TRIBALIST WILL TAKE US NO WHERE, HE CANT PENETRATE THE HIGH VOTE AREAS EG EASTERN, COPPERBELT ETC.

  4. THE GREATEST ZAMBIAN, wake up! life is opening you up to reality HH, at the rally said he will restore subsidies, my foot this are populist politics not for his generation let him have a proper agenda for the country.

    • Young man and PF happens to be an issue based party? If i recall properly Sata was invited to Oxford university to make a presentation based on populism in African politics. I think you will find that it is the PF that have a populist manifesto. You should learn to understand that it would be foolish of HH to go into deeper complicated economic policies at a rally held in a place such as Mandevu where only god knows what the literacy levels are. I am sure you are literate enough and you can therefore request the UPND manifesto which will give you an insight into what the party has to offer. You can talk to a baby same way you talk to your professor. food for thought!

    • THE GREATEST ZAMBIAN, i appreciate your seemingly good intellectual prowess, for once you and i lets not mislead any one-out there for political expedience sake. Bring out unbiased critical analysis of pertinent issues. Am telling you as a professional subsidies are not sustainable for a developing country like Zambia. HH is celebrated economist and knows just how subsides distort the prices of a commodity( Mealie meal or Fuel) and breeds inherent inefficiencies in the sector(s) of the economy. let him tell the truth to Zambians, like the Late Dr. Frederick Chiluba asked us as to weather we were ready to sacrifice? What you ought to appreciate is that our politics in Zambia are not about ideologies. Individuals what to get to state house, at any cost including telling lies. Stay Blest!

    • THE GREATEST ZAMBIAN, respond ”POWER TO THE PIPO” comment we have professionals on our side not mere politicking. The truth ought to be told that a greatest mark of servant leadership.

  5. UPND vice president ifiko as if you have already been voted for. You need to look presentable chiikkala for people to vote for you.

  6. The best way to test and settle the matter is for PF to create a bye election here in Lusaka. We want to know who is popular. Lets not relish mind games.

  7. I can confirm that Lusaka Times is now moderating my comments. I do not see where I have gone against the house rules so as to warrant moderating me. I think this is proof that Lusaka Times has a personal vendetta against the UPND. For your information I am not a UPND supporter and at the moment i can say that i am still watching the political scene so as to make an informed decicsion on who to vote for. You seem to be small minded people managing this website. grow up please LT

    • Silly Chat no one is complaining, LT has offered this platform to bring out issues not to call people as “Small minded”

    • Senior democunt am sure you will notice that all my comments have been purely based on what the article is about. Therefore you can understand why am calling them small minded people! There is no need to moderate just because some one does not agree with your emotionally misplaced ideologies.

  8. I hope those chibuku drinking chaps got some message into their heads. Lack of employment is always used as a cause for those so called youths to go out there and drink themselves to death. I wonder where or who provides them with the beer or the money for buying the beer. Beer must be banned from these public rallies! No pictures for the police? No wonder there was no violence I suppose!

  9. Canitius Banda will soon realise that this is a party for the Tongas Period! let him ask Bob Sichinga, Patrick Chisanga, Sakwiba Sikota Tehens kahanye, the list goes on

    • Please offer us solid proof that the UPND party is a tribal party as you seem to insinuate in your post. Please let us learn not to just yap and open mouth carelessly like a loose cannon when we dont have an informed source of information.

    • Look i supported the Late Mazoka, he was more open to issues and inclusive. Now the power centre (base) of UPND is held by a clique of Tonga chaps they will never allow a non tonga to become president. Similarly, Canitius Banda cannot become President of UPND, Never! On this score i would rather support MMD which has a national appeal. Talking of Solid evidence, that explains way Given Lubinda left you people because you look at tribe not the character of the person. Very sad

  10. Some Finished political minions Dante Sunders Mutale Nalumango what similarities do these have with HH, to add William Banda. HH is a joker to be entertaining minions for the sake of State House! By the way take back those innocent cadres to Choma, Pemda mazabuka etc

    • Check, which political party did the thugs who attacked Chipimo in Lusaka, HH in Kasama, BGOCA, Kabwata UPND rally etc claim to belong to? Was it not the PF?? From your consistent talk about triblism, you are a confessed tribalist yourself.

  11. Thumbs up Dr Banda & Mr Kapita, The whole Upnd team let us support the true son of our soils HH for the better Zambia for all. Thanks Mama Nalumango Mutale that is the way to go!

    • Please not getting Mr. William Tekere Banda, the clear definition of political violence in Zambia, In HHs words the ”man terralised” them at the time he was at UNZA, This is Political Prostitution at its best!

    • True son of which soil, Southern power is Not Zambia for goodness sake, HH is a shame to this generation, he embressed tribal politics as thought he is not educated. the same tribal politics will always haunt him!

  12. I have no time for HH. I don’t like leaders who start off by saying that you can’t be a leader in his party unless you are from his tribe. What other positions in government is he going to say are for tongas only if he wins elections in 2016. The other problem is that he has NEVER apologised, or even bother to explain further, for saying UPND can only have tonga presidents. So what other POSTS in government and the civil service is he going to say they can only be occupied by a tonga?

LASTLY, if we follow UPND law, it is so dangerous right now to vote UPND into office because for as long as they will be in power Zambia will never have a non-tonga president. Actually to me, because HH declared that openly to the whole country, he is a dictator too dangerous to vote into power.

  13. As a non-partisan swing voter, if I were asked to choose between the PF president Michael Sata and HH, I would vote for HEMCS. If I was asked to choose between Nevers Mumba and Michael Sata, I would still vote for HEMCS. The only people that can manage to sway me away from my current confidence in HEMCS is…..let’s see….: Inonge Wina in PF, or Mutale Nalumango (where is she now?), or Felix Mutati in MMD. I know I support Kabimba a lot, but I think Kabimba is not a politician at heart – he is not a fighter, he is a very good planner and manager/coordinator – and so I would put him for vice-president. The remaining politicians, whether in ruling party or opposition, should just retire because they are a total waste of people’s time and public resources.

  14. Ypu cant predict a win for HH just based on a few people that attend his rally. Let us see and wait for 2016 when the Zambian shall make their decision again.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia

  15. HH will win 2016 because Sata has been a great disappointment to even the simple Zambians who can be bought by a bag of mealie meal. I will cast my vote for HH even in my sleep, Sata is a Tribalist just check his diplomatic appointments they are cleaning our treasury and all those with him will be answerable. The country is in auto pilot with strikes everywhere and you think you can compare him to HH, morally, socially, spiritual, financially and otherwise HH is a better person.

  16. Explain your UPND manifesto in comparison to that of PF’s manifesto. Tell us what you will do in 90 days of being in power and of course the first two years of being in power. Tell us exactly how you will create jobs. Tell us how you would best raise money for massive infrastructure development. Tell us why you will remove the subsidies and why subsidies are good.

    • 1. reduce cabinet
      2. re-introduce windfall tax
      3. Avoid bye-elections and other unnecessary expenditures
      4. no increaments of preisdent HH ‘s salary unlike MCS ‘s 100% salary increase that way you can save money for to subsidise farmers’ fertilizer to boost production hence increasing GDP, that will bring down prices of meali meal for poor nurses whose salaries are almost equal to that of a cleaner and yet they take care of your healths……………etc. (USHUMFWA PATUNONO NEFINGI TETI OMFWE)

  17. Not bad crowd ba UPND. I was in Zambia and could feel the tide is indeed changing. Ask people on the Copperbelt now, their views are completely the opposite 2yrs down the Donchi Kubbeba road. My party is NAREP. We need to do a lot.

  18. (1) There is need to educate our youths. If some one is drinking beer then they have the money to spend and no need for employment.

    (2) Even people organising these rallies should discourage beer drinking. I do employee people from time to time where I’m constructing but when you pay these chaps all they know is to go out there and drink and finish all the pay.

    (3) Just check one compound has more beer halls than there are in Chelstone, PHI, Avondale , Munali combined.

    (4) With such type of community even if you brought some one from heaven to lead this country he would fail. We also need to have an attitude change.

    (5) What kind of jobe can that chibuku holding guy do given an oppotunity? If not he will just be stealing to raise money for his chibuku. Please wake up Zambia.

  19. Good for Democracy such rallies are healthy for a growing democracy. I note HHs misplaced pledged to remove subsidies is simply politicking where will he get the money to finance such expenditures? Get real for once HH and play mature libral politics and come out of the shell of tribal ascendance to UPND presidency.

  20. Hungry Lion lurking! Great stuff emerging out there! That shows a very good platform that people are hungry for issue, developmental but not vulgar or rather tribal based politics. We are tired of calling on top of our voices on rooftops for even a simple press statement from MCS. I foresee a huge storm coming to drown the helpless paddle-less boat.

  21. Ba HH you are going no where and you are not the only chap with little knowledge in economics. Infact you had a silent degree and yet ua we HAVE DISTINCTIONS. You will fail in 2016 let be known to you fools…..

  22. Didn’t like the photography but maybe its because I am a photographer and noticed the lack of of exposure and weak aperture in a number of the pictures. Thank for these by the way, glad to see what is going on.

  23. it feels great to see that there is only one road leading to destine. looking at the pics I beat PF will not make another mistake to allow such rallies.

  24. OK, THIS WAS A GOOD TRY OF FERRYING PEOPLE FROM VARIOUS TOWNS IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE. I WONDER HOW MUCH HH SPENT ON TRANSPORTATION, ACCOMMODATION AND NOSH.
