UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema waves at by standers (not in picture) after Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo and seven others were set free by the magistrate court in Livingstone

United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema says he will tomorrow stage a protest to coincide with the country’s independence against what he has termed as ‘rampart abuse of human rights’ under the ruling Patriotic Front administration.

Responding to a question during a media briefing in Lusaka today on why he is shunning tomorrow’s independence celebrations, Mr. Hichilema says he does not see any reason for celebrating when the PF is busy abusing the rights of the majority Zambians.

He says he is not inciting anyone to join him in shunning the celebrations, but is reminding the Zambian people to reflect on what kind of suffering they have been subjected to by the PF.

Mr. Hichilema has called on citizens to ask themselves if the Zambia they are living in is the Zambia they want as they celebrate 49 years of independence.

And Mr. Hichilema has named former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mutale Nalumango as UPND National Chairperson.

The UPND leader has also announced that former PF Kamfinsa Member of Parliament Michael Nyirenda has joined the party after seeing that the UPND is the only party that can correct all the perceived mistakes of the PF during the time they have been in power so far.

    • Desperate actions call for desperate measures! I cant stop wondering why putting so much effort into something like this, am very curious….. i only hope one day you will look back and feel good about everything, good luck.

  1. I wonder what HH will achieve by his planned demonstration tomorrow. He is seeking attention all the time. What happened to the report they lodged against the PF led govt to the UN about human rights abuse anyway? The last time I checked they had submitted series of complaints to the UN.

    • HH is behaving like a real under 5,crying and seeking attention all the time napashilingile.Slow down wemwaume bitterness yalakwipaya.

    • Its a message you send notabout pesonal accomplishment, get that in your thick skull. Sata never attended any event under LPM (RIP) and RB .. whats new? Hes getting a taste of his own medicine.

  2. That’s Zambia’s next President. Sir will be with u physically and in spirit. May God guide and protect you.

    • I think to those planning to stay away from the independence celebrations are just wasting their time. Why should we even get worried as if they are the ones who fought for it in the time of Chacha, you can stay away.Ubuwelewele fye ba mukukulu aba.

  3. @Sun-Of-A-Beach AND @ Buffalo Soldier (BS)

    HH NEXT PRESIDENT UNDER!
    NOT IN OUR LIFE TIME.!

    THE LUAPULA VOTE WILL HOLD
    THE TRUMP CARD.

I WISH YOUR DREAMS COULD BE A REALITY!

    • Totally agree with you, with the creation of muchinga province,pf will be hard to beat. The number pro PF areas is by far larger than Southern province, parts of Central , northwetern and western province where upnd has some support.I personally don’t see hh becoming president anytime soon.

    • More than two thirds of Zambia is not Bemba. There are some Bembas who see sense in this man. Some of you just see tribe.

  4. The wind is browing, this time is for HH.I think he can do better than some of these (mukulus), where peaple like G. CHIGAGA and others weare being killed like lats. yes he is going to colect some mistakes. see how peaple re being sacilifeiced …?

    • i was just talking about CHigaga and his unsolved demise. KK awe mwandini twalila abengi pa Zed. Galant son Zed gone and not even his wife said bye.

  5. When someone’s time come u cant ague. Coz in this govt so mainy pipo ‘ve lent politics even my 9years old doughter knows what is hapening. The infiting by pf supotrs, the m/meal and no money in pipo’s pockts etc. These re the things which wil make HH WIN.

  6. @Unique man . PLEASE TRY TO LEARN SOME SIMPLE ENGLISH. YOUR SPELLINGS AND CONSTRUCTION OF ENGLISH SENTENCES IS SO HORRIBLE. I’ AM NOT TRYING TO SAY THAT AM BETTER THAN YOU.

  7. HH is now running mad. You see PF we told you that let HH and UPND hold rallies , now HH has nothing to talk about but to just rant. Ranting like a headless chicken. Please allow him to come and Demonstrate at state house …

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  8. Until he went into a deal with Rupia I had some hope in him.it amazed me because of desperation he stopped seeing the plunder by Rupia and supported him for presidency but our God is alive HH was exposed hence this confusion now…even 2016 will be an even bigger shock for this HH….

  9. That’s why our President Sata respects Chipimo. Ba HH bena kaya. Kuwayawayafye…. Dream of all time. Drama queen of the year.

  10. HH can boycott independence, and as much he wants to state PF have not done anything. This is the same thing Sata did when he was in opposition. If you feel there is nothing to celebrate then don’t, the press or public don’t have to know. Furthermore if you feel for the plight of the zambian people why not use your wealth as a business man to help your fellow man. For all his education and supposed accumen he feels this is a platform to talk about nothing. The president of zambia not in this generation HH. Let people like Chipimo lead instead, because on the ground his helping in the compunds providing small loans for people to empower them.

  11. If someone is still able to leave PF government and join opposition party, I beleive we are heading somewhere with our baby democracy domestically…its health its awesome its encouraging…Happy birthday Mother Zambia

  12. Am really surprised to learn that alot of Zambians have been abused of their freedom by PF government of which I don’t agree. I have not seen police officers harrasing innocent Zambians unless to the offenders. If some1 offends and he is arrested that is not harrasment. Police has a duty to protect Zambians in all forms of criminal activities.
