A Zambian delegation has arrived in Stockholm, Sweden, for a study tour of this country’s public broadcasting at the invitation of the Swedish Public institute.
The delegation comprises Information and Broadcasting Deputy Minister Hon. Poniso Njeulu, and members of the Parliamentary Committee on Information and Broadcasting.
They include:
Committee chair-person Hon. Kabinga Pande

Also on hand to receive the delegation was Per Helgesson, Head of Swedish Radio Media Development Office which has been at the instrumental in organizing the study tour.
While in Sweden the team will among other things undertake a study of the concept of public service broadcasting as it is practised in the Swedish context.
This will include regulation and legal status, as well as the over-arching issue of journalistic integrity, building trust and the financing system through licence fees.
The programme will also include visits to among others Swedish Radio and Swedish television, the Swedish Parliament, the Swedish Broadcasting Authority, and the Swedish Broadcasting Commission.
A visit to a regional radio station to study regionalization issues, is also prominent on the Zambian delegation’s programme in Sweden.
When are they coming back
Its a very long tour and they wont come back soon because from Sweden, the delegation will tour BBC in London before proceeding USA to tour CNN, and then tour Aljazera in Abhu Dabhi. On its way to Zambia, the delegation will make a stop over in South Africa to tour SABC.

It is not by copying everything but also showing commitment to develop systems according to our conviction of the importance of a free but responsible media. Our own culture is bad….
funny huh? Public broadcasting and press freedom. you learning things like give press freedom, give broadcasting licenses private radio stations, etc. But when you come back the ‘dictator’ will simply ignore those recommendations – infact he might even fire some of you for implementing what you will learn – i m just saying
JUST SAY GOOD MOVE DICTATOR SATA BECAUSE HE IS A BETTER AND HARD WORKING DICTATOR THAN YOUR DICTATOR HH
Next it will be as study tour on presidents press conference. 1st they will be in America at a press briefing by Obama, then come down to South Africa then up again to the UN, from there they will go to Syria then Malawi and Lastly attend HHs press briefing.
Trivial to the topic but I Love the name Chibamba Kanyama. His parents were creative, logical and positive, given that their name was Kanyama.
I know that he will hunt and bring home the requisite knowledge as per his name.
For sure African names are just sweet! Let us learn to give our children African names reflective of our cultures and way of life and get rid of the colonial or so called Christian names.
GOD BE WITH THEM ALL
All that delegation of big big people in govt to study radios and to received by by a media officer. wy not send juniour officers?
KCM LIFE SPAN IS OVER 30 YEARS. Do not buy the story of Kumah. Anglo did the same to deter would be investor. This is just propaganda. Why did they sink the Konkola Deep Mine shaft, build a smelter and concentrator at a very high cost if copper was to finish in 3 years? If you have believed this lie ofcopper finishing in 3 years, then you are like kthe Kumahs, you do not reason. These guys borrowed heavily, since they do not reason, now they think if they lay off workers they will meet the monthly payment of the loan instalments. In actual fact, they wont. Production will reduce by the same number they will lay off. The mechanised and computerised mining they are talking about is all a lie. We have not seen any.
