Vice President Guy Scott has disclosed that a docket has been opened for the suspected assailants who allegedly killed an unknown Patriotic front (PF) cadre in yesterday’s fracas in Lusaka.

Two opposing PF camps of cadres clashed yesterday when one attempted to block the other from going to witness the commissioning of the construction of a new international airport in Lusaka by President Michael Sata.

Dr. Scott thanked the Zambia Police for their vigilance and quick response to calm the situation which would have resulted into more deaths.
He was responding to question raised by opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Monze Member of Parliament (MP) Jack Mwiimbu who wanted to find out what measures government has taken against the suspected PF cadres who killed a fellow cadre.

This was during the 30 minutes Vice President’s question time.

The Vice President alleged that the violent cadres actually belonged to the opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) who want to seek refuge in the ruling party.

Dr. Scott, who is also PF Lusaka Central MP, recollected that during the 2006 presidential and parliamentary elections, the MMD allegedly hired six buses full of violent cadres who caused confusion in his constituency.

“Mr. Speaker Sir, I don’t believe there is intra-party violence but these are the same MMD cadres who are violent wearing PF regalia and taking refuge in our party, the ruling PF,” Dr. Scott said.

He said PF was a non-violent party whose members were very disciplined as opposed to those in the opposition political parties.

One person died yesterday in the ruling PF intra-party violence.

The victim, whose identity was unknown as at 19 hours, died at Levy Mwanawasa hospital, where he had been admitted in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) suffering from heavy bleeding with deep cuts.

Another PF cadre Julius Komaki, who is Interim Lusaka District Information Secretary, is said to be in a serious condition and is battling for his life in ICU at the same hospital following the violence that erupted.

Zambia Police Service Spokesperson Charity Munganga-Chanda has confirmed the death of the PF cadre but could not avail the name.

And Dr. Scott has disclosed that government would take stern action against Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) for laying off 76 workers.

Dr. Scott regretted that KCM had gone ahead to down-size its workforce but said government would take appropriate action.

He observed that there has been careless talk by KCM Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kishore Kumar.

KCM management has defied President Michael Sata’s directive not to fire a single worker by going ahead to terminate contracts for 76 employees at its Konkola shaft in Chililabombwe.
On Friday last week, KCM announced that it would lay off more than 1,500 workers, claiming that the move was in a bid to move towards mechanisation and automation in view of decreased copper grades at some of its mines.

This prompted President Sata to on Monday warn the mining firm that it risked having its mining licence revoked if it proceeded to lay off even a single worker from the 1,500 workers earmarked for retrenchment.

Mr. Sata said the government would not succumb to any kind of threat and blackmail as it stood ready to serve the interests of Zambian workers.

On restoring the Barotse Agreement (BA), Dr. Scott warned MMD Sikongo MP Mundia Ndalamei against agitating the Lozi people to break the law.

“Stop agitating….don’t break the law. The new constitution coming out soon though l don’t also know the provisions will have decentralization for devolution,” Dr. Scott said.

The Vice President explained that the new constitution would determine the provisions on the restoration of the Barotse Agreement.

  1. Good. Its about time…political differences shouldn’t give people reasons to kill or hurt others.I feel sorry for those petty and poor cadres who go into harms way for the big politicians who doesn’t even care less about them.Smh

    • …ah ah. I’m the real Saulosi and truly I don’t like the way the same cadres who danced all night when we.. I mean when PF won in 2011, have been turned into melitia and factions…

…just like we used to see on TV.

    • This Guy Scott speaks as though he has never been a member of the MMD. The only people that can claim to be original PF are those whose first political affiliation was PF. Everyone else came from somewhere else (UNIP, MMD, UPND, FDD, etc). The so-called trouble makers from MMD were being recruited and welcomed at rallies by the same Guy Scott. This is a serious matter and in typical PF style they want to implicate the opposition.

    • Simply too many problems for PF:
      – PF Cadres slaughtered
      – KCM Indian CEO fled from country… ukubutuka before the cobra strikes.
      – Chitimukulu we don’t know the fate, maybe Sata will arrest him
      – Barotseland – innocent Sinyinda might be hanged by Sata
      – Let me stop here, my heart is in pain.

    • Dr. Scot please, can we respect Life…..How does MMD come into this Winter Vs GBM fight for power! Can u be serious old mad….what you are saying is annoying. Ba Sata please be serious for the first Sir…..Remove thhis GBM from PF and I can assure you that the party will be organised and respected….Are you ok Ba Mudala?

  2. No sir. these are not MMD cadres. They are your people. Maybe you have forgotten; Kabimba and GBM are senior party officials in the PF!

  3. “Vice President alleged that the violent cadres actually belonged to the opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) who want to seek refuge in the ruling party.”

What tosh is this V.P? Were you and you not in the MMD yourself together with Sata “The Butcher of Chawama”? This is just a carry on for the “Butcher”. Except this time he is being devoured by the monster of his own creation.

  4. You aint seen nothing yet!
The PF is full of Kaponyas and this intra Party violence will spread to the whole country because Paya Farmer believes that they are more Zambian than those who belong to other Parties.

  5. The ministers promoting this hate shud be fired immediately or else the President will lose credibility.Gvt is there to protect people and not to promote anarchy.

  6. It is very very sad indeed that people especially youths are ignorantly being used just for a simple slice of bread, chibuku and jilison. Now people are being butchered with impunity in the country as if there is no president. This is how it started in Rwanda. People are taking our peace for granted and efyo satana afwaya.
Mr president knows who the causer of this problem is and if he will not act then he is happy.

  7. Ok can the real leaders please stand up and speak up and those with nothing reasonable to say (to put it politely) close their mouths. Someone has lost their life for goodness sake, there is nothing funny or trivial about this. It is certainly no time for political point scoring, it is a time for serious reflection, sobriety and responsible action to ensure the scenes from yesterday are never ever repeated. If the Vice President can be so flippant in his response to parliament no less, what kind of message does that send to the perpertrators and what kind of assurance does that give all law abiding citizens? Shame on you Mr Scott

  8. Since the PF formed government I cannot remember a single responsible statement by Guy Scott that can be taken seriously. He is good at shifting the blame to innocent people. Has he already forgotten the take-over of Zambian streets by PF cadres carrying Kabimba’s coffin? If Scott’s thinking is up to scratch he should known that he is one of the causes of the PF in-fighting which is far from over.
Stop blaming the opposition for your mess.

  9. Guy Scott is a big fool who is obsessed with MMD. Can a normal person surely accuse MMD for the fights in PF? Is Scott telling us GBM and winter who are behind the current fights are MMD.

  10. Dr Scott “warned the MMD Sikongo MP Mundia Ndalamei against agitating the Lozi people to break the law.”
What laws are they breaking? Isn’t Scotts’ boss Sata who said that the BA 64 is real and would honor it within 90 days of assuming office. Mundia is questioning the authentication of honoring the Barotseland Agreement 64 because the PF are on record. Then Roger Chongwe was breaking the law with the Barotseland inquiry.
The aggressors the the ones violating the law and ruling people of Barotseland by force.
How can one talk about the constitution they yet have not seen or read? Then later, Scott says, he doesn’t know but the constitution is coming.
What laws are hindered if people are seeking and standing for their rights to freedom. Self determination is a right.
    How long…

  11. hahahahahahaha………. where is hippo face kambwili? is he grazing in the luanshya golf club lawns? yaaba, these cadres and their masters are running circles on each other. the sad part is innocent people were caught up in the confusion in the town centre, sad

  12. Scott bwamba bwakwe! Let him not take Zambian pipo for granted. If he does have anything to talk about he shud shut up! The *****ic cadres came from UNIP, jumped to MMD n now PF n so what the hell is he talking about? Those morons r from his friend WK n let him not mock us! Has he got any idea how angry we r? Let him be very careful the ways he talks! This the last time we r allowing bamwisa to rule Zambia

  13. “Mr. Speaker Sir, I don’t believe there is intra-party violence but these are the same MMD cadres who are violent wearing PF regalia and taking refuge in our party, the ruling PF,” Dr. Scott said.

What a joke of a statement from this man. He can at least accept that his party is violent, since we all so what happened. Stop acting like you are still in opposition. For once stand on the truth and act accordingly. Though the problem could be the you are part of the other camp too.

  15. M.O.P as usual ranting due to Parkinson disease. Don’t take him serious otherwise we will fail to know who has really a short circuit.

  16. It is high time our party PF introduces cards for us your member this will help the party to know its true members than the way it is now. As let our party instruct us your members to be carrying our cards whenever there is an important gathering . Party chitengs should not be a sign of one being a member. Please do this now.

  17. No wonder Zambia is heading nowhere under the administration of these morons. In the past, I used to a wrong perception that white people are intelligent but going by what comes from the mouth of Guy Scott, my thinking about some white people is now different. How can he tell the nation that the cadres who clashed were from the opposition, which opposition, whom is he trying to hoodwink ? Who doesn’ t know that the PF camp is characterised by violent people including the head of state himself ? Those cadres who blocked and threw stones at HH’ motrocade in Kasama recently, were they from the opposition ? Ba Guy Scott, be serious Mudala, take a leaf, your analysis is absolutely wrong. Sort out the dirty which is prevailing in your own camp than smearing your filthy to the innocent people.

  18. I think Scott’s senility is seeping out. As the VP of the ruling party, he is responsible for the peace and stability of the nation. Blaming someone else is what children do.

PF needs to accept that they are in power and are therefore responsible for all success and failures of the nation. Full Stop.

In this case, they need to own up to all the failures they have created and incurred over the last few months they are in power.

One this is for sure, no one in their right mind will ever vote PF into power again.

  19. Over the last few months, however, many fans of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel have voiced their concerns abou Luhrman. He shot the film in 3D (and in Australia, even though the book is set on Long Island) and included a Kanye West song
