Nkana are Zambian Kings (Updated with Picture celebrations)

Share

Striker Ronald Kampamba recorded a hat trick on Sunday as 10-man Nkana thumped Red Arrows 4-1 in Kitwe to secure their long awaited 12th FAZ Super League title on the final day of the season.

The 2013 crown is Nkana’s first league title in 12 years as the team last won the league in 2001 under Coach Patrick Phiri.

In this week 30 encounter, Arrows made a false start when Stanley Nshimbi tapped in from close range to hand them a 26th minute lead following a defensive lapse in the Nkana backline.

But Nshimbi’s goal was cancelled by Donashano Malama whose powerful throw in hit Arrows keeper Medson Luwawa before shaking the net.

Nkana made it 2-1 when Kampamba nicknamed Sate Sate converted a 41st minute penalty after Shadreck Malambo was penalised by referee Wisdom Chewe for handling in the box.

Kampamba scored his second goal of the match with a 77th minute solo effort before scoring his 18th goal deep in additional time to finish 2013 FAZ Super League top scorer.

Nkana have won the 2013 title with 59 points, two above runners-up Zesco United whose 1-0 win over Nchanga Rangers on Sunday did little to help them win the league.

Meanwhile, there were wild celebrations among supporters at Nkana Stadium as referee Chewe brew the final which to end the match.

Jubilant supporters invaded the pitch as they mobbed their players while chanting songs.
The atmosphere remained electric as the victorious players and coaches left the pitch.

    • Where is picture of Ronald Kampamba, is the one without shirt? I really want to see how he looks like, if he can really be a European candidate. Because like any other product, what sells best is the appearance, not the taste or performance.

  1. Norman that is a bad remark just concraterate Nkana for winning their 12 league this is history in Zambian football history DIE HARD SUPPORTER NI FAVOR

  2. We thank the lads and the coaching staff for the job well done. Even when it looked like the title will slip through your fingers, you beleived, worked hard and finished the job. Now do not rest on your laurels. Think of even greater things like winning the Champions league – and I am not dreaming. Just beleive!

  3. Congrats ! But kindly control yo fans Holigansm,,if Nkana had lost & zega won,,zega wudnt hav passd thru kitwe may b usin Helicopter..too bad..
Scrap off some unproductv playaz like Festus too slow than a Tortise,,send them to Boost Mighty in Div 1..die hard Zega fan

  4. Kalampa
is back. Zanaco learn from Nkana’s ability to develop own players, this has been kalampa’s strength. Viva Nkana.

  5. The original Chipolopolo! Nkana! Now you need to do what Ba Chairman and Ba Chibungo used to do. Go find powerful players to reinforce the striking force. We need to do well when Ipenga likalalila Pa Chilata!

  6. Thank you very much for the hard work. Zesco congratulations for finishing second. I understand you were chasing your fourth title, which never looked like it will come your way. All season you were pretenders. The trophy is now back at the stadium it knows best because of being there several times. Nchanga Rangers you did well guys but learn to score more goals. Goal difference of seven is disheartening! That form can’t win you trophies. Power be serious next season and work on both your defense and striking force. Zanaco you are no longer a force to reckon with. No amount of sponsorship from the bank is going to shift the balance of power from C/belt. C/Belt teams look set to dominate the league for a long long time especially that Nkana who know how to do that better are back in form.

  7. Congratulations Nkana and the people of Kitwe in general. Your City is truly a footballing city. The super league began in 1982. It has therefore been in existence for 31 years. Yet in that period, Kitwe teams have won it a combined total of 18 times ( Nkana 12 and Power 6). That represents 58%. Indeed Kitwe rocks when it comes to football! Lusaka is second with 6 (zanaco 5 and Arrows 1). Third is Ndola with 3 (all by Zesco). Fourth is Mufulira on 2, while Kabwe and Chingola are on 1 each.

  8. Not even the Faz disciplinary committee was able to stop Nkana from winning the league this year. That committee emerged as the sixteenth team Nkana was competing with when the dubiously awarded Blades a 3-0 win in that abandoned match despite the trouble being caused by Blades supporters.

  9. “Nalelo eeee ba Nkana ba wina” is such a hit. It brings back old memories. Late Isaac Mulinda would have been proud of Nkana’s performance and was going to play this song as dedication to all the masses of Wusakile. I wonder if current musicians can sing something that can match up to this song and stand the test of time.

  10. Ba Rostondoz, football in Zambia is made in Kitwe, ngamwalaba shani? Mwalumfwampo Dominic Mutale, Kapambwe Mulenga, Jericho Shinde, Mark Masumbuko, Gibby Mbasela ….bosses?

  11. We used to generate such crowds, I hope we can sustain it! We miss Dennis Liwewe, Macha Chilemena and Ponga Liwewe who spiced it up with ZNBC running commentaries. Nkana there we come!

  12. Who can do it better than NKANA? High spirited Nkana. You were down and now you are up. If you do not give up very soon you start getting your fruits. NKANA BRAVO.

  13. Rostondoz,

I appreciate your analysis. Nkana is also the oldest football club, formed in 1935. Kitwe is also the city to have produced the first football exports to Atlanta Chiefs in the US and Aston Vila in the UK – Fred Mwila (from Rhokana now Nkana) and Emment Kapengwe from Kitwe United. Godfrey Chitalu, the greatest striker this country has ever produced, was a product of Kitwe United. The only continental cup winners – Power Dynamos – are also from Kitwe. Indeed Kitwe is Zambia’s greatest footballing city. Strangely FAZ and successive governments don’t want to honor the city by constructing an international stadium in the city.

    • Congrates to Nkana for the well deserved 12th title. Max Mbizo you are spot ON. Kitwe should be given a new stadium for its outstanding record in Zambian football. Kitwe also has the most popular and Historical local derby ( Nkana – Power ). The football frenzy is always wholesome. Kitwe is definitely the place to be in terms of soccer.
      Favour All the Way!

  14. The bias against Kitwe is blatant. New stadia are being constructed in towns with virtually zero football tradition or activity like Mongu and Livingstone but Kitwe despite its large population on the Copperbelt is never even mentioned. I once asked one former FAZ President why Kitwe was never considered for an international stadium and he lamely blamed it on violent fans in Kitwe. Some of us have petitioned the parliamentary subcommittee on youth and sports and the ministerKambwili for an international stadium in Kitwe and got zero response. FAZ Disciplinary Committee even wanted to derail Nkana’s victory!

  15. Congrats Kalampa you hav done us proud Lusaka fans but continental cup dont bow out in the first round go upto the final like you did when you met Zamalek

  16. NKANA FOR LIFE++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  17. Nalelo eee ba Nkana bawina, Isaac Phiri ba Devil bawina, nalelo ee ba devil bawina, pali ba devil nshilala tulo, Well Done

  18. Congrats ZESCO, we fought the battle till the end. Continental football is coming pa Levy, we can do wonders there with hard work… AS for Kalampa pliz tell yo fans to behave, otherwise you will embarrass the nation. U can bring the continental games to Ndola is u can behave… Congrats anyway

  19. Where is the trophy ba LT? I know that you guys at LT are supporters of the defunct City Ya Moto, but please show us the pictures of those Wusakile boys lifting their trophy.

  20. I said it from the begging that Nkana were aiming at representing Zambia in the continental championship. Thank you Nkana for brining bank the image of the beautiful Zambian soccer. People have now gone back to loving Zambian soccer.

  21. Kalampa all the wall ifwe….Nkana itimu lya mwela onse..Ba Nkana fipolopolo!! Thank Kalampa for the good game you have displayed this season, very splendid, profound indeed.

  22. Once upon a time Nkana had won the league title “Anabeaten” in the words of some Wusakile and Chamboli boys! Go Nkana, go!

  23. <body
“Nkana will always be the best. I also want to agree with other bloggers,”government has surely sidelined Kitwe in terms of sports infrastructure”. Anyway Nkana has won, what else.

  24. “Nkana will always be the best. I also want to agree with other bloggers,”government has surely sidelined Kitwe in terms of sports infrastructure”. Anyway Nkana has won, what else.

  25. That Song please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Great Serenje Kalindula Band. Sweet memories of Serenje Secondary Technical School for Boys. Mpompompo. It reminds of the days when we use to sneak into Zambia Compound, muchi muzi to drink Imbeketi ya chibuku and that song was the one playing!!!

  26. message to all nkana and power supporters and also the people of Kitwe is that ,come 2019 zambia, mighty be considered to host the africa cup of nation. and if the government and FAZ failed to construct a stadium in kitwe, never travelled to ndola and lusaka to support. after all we have got TVs at our homes, let them fill those big stadiums.the justification that kitwe is a violence city is not true and if its true what about lusaka. remember people of chingola, chililabombwe, kalulushi, chambishi, mufulira can not go to lusaka minus passing through kitwe. conglats kitwe and Mopani

    • no stadium in the hurb of coperbelt chingola, chililabombwe, kalulushi, chambishi, mufulira. watching TV will be an option. VIVA NKANA VIVA.
