The United Party for National Development (UPND) has urged government and the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to adequately prepare the Under 17 girls national soccer team ahead of next year’s FIFA world cup tournament.

UPND Chairperson for Youth Affairs Likando Mufalali urged FAZ and government to ensure that the team is adequately prepared so that it does not end up being a mere participant but a competitor with the aim to win the championship.

In a statement made available to ZANIS Sports in Lusaka today, Mufalali has since congratulated the Shepolopolo for being the first women football team in the country to qualify to the major women’s championship.

Mufalali further said his party will continue to promote investment in various sports disciplines as one way of creating employment for the youths.

After a 3 all draw in Lusaka two weeks ago, the Under 17 side stunned their host South Africa 3-1 on Sunday at Bidvest stadium in Johannesburg to qualify 6-4 on aggregate to next March’s FIFA Under 17 world cup to be hosted by Costa Rica from 15th March to April 5.

Meanwhile, Mufalali has also congratulated Nkana Football Club for winning the 2013 FAZ/MTN super league which adds to the club’s record of having won the tournament 12 times.

Nkana who finished the super league on 59 points sealed their record 12th title with a 4-1 demolition of Red Arrows in the final fixture of the season at Nkana stadium in Kitwe.

Just kidding who doesnt? I actually thought about it, maybe they are too just a matter of timing, otherwise, people will Bark endlessly that might be the reason they havent done it, I wouldnt mind as long as it helps the Teams after all those complaing cheer with empty hands!

  2. Image building at work! Anyway it is okey kaili matimu yachalo chonse.Besides that l must point out the name shepolopolo is 100% wrong.lt has no meaning and sounds bad. Why not chipolopolo girls only?

    • @Osmore, actually shepolopolo means chipolopolo girls. She means girls and polopolo means bullet. So to make it sound a bit different and better, they call them shepolopolo

  3. the upnds are the zambian soccer fans from masumba to hifilema now we are gown to see after hifilema wo is gon to take over is nawakwi. dont comenti anything.

    • You are the one whose thinking in terms of Politics! By the way… what gives you and others the right to comment on everything else and not UPND members? Are they not Zambians before UPND? Zambians why do you make mountains out of Mole hills? This calibre of behaviour says much about a bunch of you! Read again yours and others opnions over UPND on this issue, make judgement as an independent person without being bias, then you will know what am alluding to, otherwise, your opinions speak of shallow mindedness!
Even if it had anything to do with politics…. whats wrong with that? Dont they all have strategies? What then is stinky about this one? Move on and condemn were there is need, in short issues that matter!

  4. ITS GOOD OUR GIRLS HAVE QUALIFIED BUT THEY MUST BE WATCHED COZ SOME CASSANOVAS WILL BE HOVERING OVER THEM. WITH THAT TYPE OF DANCE THEY DISPLAYED DURING RECEIPTION IN THEIR HONOUR BY THE MINISTER OF SPORT & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT. WE KNOW THEM THEY ARE BIG SPOILERS. I URGE THE GIRLS NOT BE GROW BIG HEADED AHEAD OF THE TOURNAMENT IN COSTA RICA NEXT YEAR. THEY SHOULD INSTEAD REMAIN FOCUSED. IF PARENTS MUST KEEP AN EAGLE’S EYE ON THE GIRLS ACTIVITIES AS THEY NEED TO REMAIN FOCUSED ON THE FORTHCOMING CHAMPOINSHIP. I AM JUST DELIGHTED BUT WORRY STILL REMAINS HIGH.
