The opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) has charged that the Patriotic Front (PF) government is mocking the Zambian people over the constitution.
President Michael Sata has said there is no need for the country to have a new constitution contrary to his promise in the run-up to 2011 General elections that he would deliver a new constitution within ninety days once ushered into government.
ZED President Fred Mutesa has told QFM News in an interview that President Michael Sata is taking the people of Zambia for granted and he is taking advantage of their patience to have the constitution ready.
Dr. Mutesa says there is need to remind President Sata that one of the reasons why the MMD was voted out of power was their inability to deliver the people driven constitution.
The ZED President adds that Zambians from all walks of life must remind Government of its solemn responsibility to listen, hear and understand the urgency for a people-driven constitution.
He states that Zambia deserves a complete overhaul and different generations of Zambians have spoken out on their demand for a people-driven constitution
Indeed, Sata has taken people of Zambia for granted. My call for all well meaning Zambians, lets rise and demand! Huge and colossal sums of money have been spent, was that just to make his friends rich, knowing that at the end of the road, he will throw it to the drain ???? Well, its good it has come out of his mouth, we need a revolution similar to the Egypt, Syria, Libya to mention just a to mention just a few. Chiluba took people for granted and he was brought down. Lets remember Dr Martin Luther Kings speech, ‘ Freedom is never given voluntarily by the oppressors, it must be demanded by those who are oppressed. If we need this constitution, we need to DEMAND IT FROM OPPRESSORS ‘PF’

I know that Sata is a lier but i canot believe what Dr Mutesa has said. Is it true that Sata has changed his language over the Consititiution and said that Zambians dont need a new constitution? I think i must have missed something here.
I watched it pa 19hrs news my friend. sata said the constitution just needs a few amendments and it will not be necessary to overhaul it.

It was there on ZNBC news (yes, you heard me right, ZNBC). They reported that Sata had said that there was no need for a new constitution. This was during his recent visit to Luapula. I heard it and I believed my ears. There will be no NEW constitution and we are messed up so brace yourselves!
5 months ago I boggled that those who think sata will give us the constitution were dreaming and my score were green 3 and red 23,as of now sata stand is clear no new constitution.as chief of confusion what he wants is to declare a state of emergency and eventually one party state.this is just the beginning of more shocking news yet to come from pf ,those who are hoping for 2016 will be shocked how the elections will be rigged .the time to act is now .
How much of taxpayers funds have been wasted over the years over these draft constitutions…..all because these selfsame selfish greedy politicians are forever depriving us from a “people-driven constitution” that can stand the test of time.

I personally am hurt. We are 13 million Zambians who wants and support a new constitutions. The problem is that we let these few greed politicians to control us as if they are gods. We are a strong tidal wave that can supercede any decision. Let us unite and get what we need.

I will not be surprised if MCS maintains status quo on dual nationality issue, he has made his stance very clear on this one and given the fact that he is one to overrule even popular vote, he is capable of overturning this one as well.
It will be interesting to see how things unfold given fact that late Mwanawasa and even the just fallen RB were in agreement of granting Zambians in the Diaspora dual nationality. I have a feeling this is one of the targeted amendments.

Michael Sata’s dictatorship should be eliminated.Winning a presidential election does not mean that one has got the power to oppress the people.Zambians will have a new constitution by hook or by crook.
People may appear docile (or gullible) now,but when they are pushed to the wall,Sata and his tribal and corrupt PF will be thumped.
We will never have good governance here without a good constitution.
The way UPND would like the constitution of Zambia to exclude people without degrees is the same way PF is making a constitution which fits them. The main reason why we can not unite is because we do not have a credible substitute for a president. if people from UPND think they can dribble their to state house you will be in for a rude shock when you find Chama Chakomboka in state house. Please people let us be honest and stop being emotional. I agree they love their own.
My view is that the concerns of government are also well founded. The process of constitution making visibly showed signs of politicization, revisionism lack of sensitivity regarding time frame framing and delivery as well as elastic expenditures. That is recipe for contestation, doubting or indeed rejection by any well meaning democrats.
I am concerned soldier and Zambian citizen who is getting fed up with SATA’s govt which is insensitive to our problems. Do you know why there has been coups in some countries? Because of having presidents like Sata who are very egoistic. Sata cannot be changing goal posts concerning the new constitution. Colossal tax payers money has been spend in trying to come up with a constitution that will stand the test of time. I am sending strong warning to the govt not to take Zambians for granted.
