A consortium of civil society organizations (CSOS) has shown intentions of forming a coalition with church mother bodies and opposition political parties in the country in pressing for the release of the final copy of the constitution.
CSOs Spokesperson MacDonald Chipenzi has told Qfm news in an interview that CSOS have realized that they need to join forces with opposition political parties, the church and other key stakeholders in ensuring that the pf government gives the people what they want.
Mr. Chipenzi says some reports have shown that the PF government wants to manipulate the final document to be in conformity with their needs unlike the needs of many Zambians which should not be allowed.
He adds that there is need for the government to release the constitution without being pressured because it’s for the people and not a PF play book.
Mr. Chipenzi has also urged the media to be proactive in their reporting to bring out issues that may make the government release the constitution.
If it will have to take a drone on Sata and his league of liar to get it that Zambians have sacrificed for a people driven constitution, so be it.
Ba Sata is a politician, we do not need a drone to get a constitution from him. We just need to demonstrate vigorously against him on this constitution thing and he will back down immediately he sees that the PF will lose the elections in 2016 because of this constitution issue. What we need now is effective leadership within the opposition and Civil society to lead the civil protests against the PF and it will just be a matter of days the man will back down.
Zambia has never been cursed before with such kind of pathological liars in power as this regime of fanatics too drunk with imaginary power.
This is the highest plunder of Tax payer’s money. These people are so selfish such that they can’t think how the people of Zambia sacrificed for this constitution. The so called secretariate which was appointed by this Government only benefited huge sums of sitting allowances. Wynter Kabimba also was getting these allowances. This Governament has no shame. They can’t get the people of Zambia for Granted.
LT, please replace that picture of this guy, put a better picture, the one prior to his illness. Or ask him to buy another shirt, jacket, etc, on as-he-is basis, and take a good picture of him. Otherwise, the brother isn’t that bad!
Hai KBM, nice to hear from you. i understand your concerns but that should not distract you from putting your opinion on this crucial matter, the constitution. thanks
argumentum ad hominem!!!!…. how pathetic
A coalition of CSOs and opposition parties,(excluding Cosmo Mumba,of course),is what this country needs to press for a new constitution. The donor community will support the initiative because they have seen how Michael Sata’s dictatorship is messing up Zambia. In order to have good and civilized governance we need a new constitution now.Sata’s tribal and corrupt PF is not strong,it will soon crumble.
What Mr Sata and his team are doing on the constitution making process is the worst hypocrisy witnessed in Zambia’s political history. Mr Sata was very vocal about the simplicity of giving the Zambians the constitution. he differed a good number of his MPs labelling them rebels over the constitution process. Mr Sata and PF you will go down as the worst regime in our beloved country. You lied about everything and you are determined to continue misusing resources and abusing the Zambians. A reminder of some of your lies:
1. Restoration of barotse agreement
2. No more load shedding
3. Job creation
4. Removal of the Public Order Act
5. Completion of a people driven constitution in 90 days
Zambia needs a leadership for this generation and not our great grand fathers. Arise ECJ and your…
Where are the catholics who were so vocal during MMD rule? I have not seen any pastoral letter of late castigating the present government as was the frequency during MMD. Let the church show us direction instead of hiding!
@teddy what do you expect from the hyporictc Catholic church whose head is a mulamu to the destroyer in state house. Silence by the Catholic in Zambia is putrid to say the least
Now that neck in that collar bane , shirts have sizes too.
Now on a serious note . We need to do an Egypt on these PF dictators. All that Zambians need right now is a leader to rally around. Enough is enough. This gvt has lost legitimacy 2016 is too far. They need to be booted out now – surely after making all those promises and duping people to elect them into office on the basis of all those promises including delivery of a people driven constitution in 90 days , for someone to insult us that we dont need a new constitution ! On this issue , some of us are prepared to die . This is the proverbial last straw. Can someone of the stature of General Miyanda pls lead this Revolution. Enough is enough.
And yet, people are still voting PF into MP positions — this may need to be re-thought, and carefully.
This is the start of the Election Rigging process. The provision on Presidential Petition in the current constitution allows for a President to be sworn in immediately after being declared winner. Those agrvd can only contest in the courts of Law after the President has been sworn in. In other words one can be sworn in even if he has lost elections! This ‘ Election Rigging Clause’ was introduced by Chiluba in 1995 for purposes of holding on to power. The PF are aware of this clause and they do not want dropped as has been proposed by the New draft constitution. My only hope is that the current ECZ chair, who in my judgement has a lot of integrity will continue up to election time in 2016.
Never trust a politician, he always says what he wants you to hear until he gete the power. But we all knew MCS’s true colours but some of us chose to ignore or naively thought he had changed. Its hard for a hyena to change its spots or its character!
MR CHIPENZI, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR BLACK FRIDAY BLAH..BLAH..BLAH…? DON’T WORRY. SATA WILL GIVE US THE CONSTITUTION THAT WE WANT. HE HAS NOTHING TO LOSE. EVEN IF IT COSTS HIM THE PRESIDENCY, HIS NAME HAS ALREADY GONE INTO THE ANNALS OF HISTORY AS A MAN WHO CAME FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS WITH THE BEAREST OF EDUCATION BUT HOWEVER MANAGED TO FORM A POLITICAL PARTY ALMOST SINGLE HANDEDLY, WON GENERAL ELECTIONS AMIDST A MIRRIAD OF CANDIDATES WITH ACADEMIC PROWESS. NOW THAT IS MY MAN. YES, HE HAS SOME WEAKNESSES AND NEEDS TO REVAMP HIS PARTY. BUT AS FOR NOW, I THINK ZAMBIA IS SAFE IN SATAS HANDS COMPARED WITH THE CURRENT OPPOSITION LEADERS. GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.
Now is time! All Zambians are behind this except Kabimba and MCS
